AMC Dine-In Theater – St. Louis, MO

After we checked into our new hotel and got situated hubby asked what I wanted to do next.  Now, one of hubby’s fave movies right now happens to be Grown Ups.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen that movie, but I like it too.  So I suggested that maybe we go relax at a movie and see Grown Ups 2.  Hubby got online and found a theater within about 5 miles of our hotel, but it just so happened to be a Dine-in Theater.  What’s that you ask?  Yeah, I didn’t know either.  If you knew, just remember I might lead a sheltered life :).

You go to the movie, they give you assigned seats, you get a menu and choose what you’d like for dinner.  And truthfully, the prices of the food happen to be the same as a sit-down restaurant.  Oh and the food, yeah it’s real food, not like just a hotdog and nachos or something :).  I believe if I remember the menu, they also had popcorn, just like a regular movie.  You have servers that come around and serve you and if you need a refill or something else, you push a button and they come to you, all while enjoying your movie. Favazza’s On The Hill – St. Louis, MO

On Monday we went to Anheuser Busch for a bit and then decided we were ready for lunch.  One of the guys at AH gave us maps for restaurants in the area.  The Hill is known as the Italian neighborhood where there are a lot of great Italian restaurants.  Italian, I’m sold! So we headed for the hill.  The map we were given included many restaurants, so I just chose one and plugged it into the GPS and that’s where we went.  The restaurant I chose was Favazza’s.

We went around the block and found parking on the side.  As we were walking to the building I found graffiti. We were told you wouldn’t see much of that in the city. And seriously, those guys who do that are really talented.  They need to put their talents to good use! (more…)

The Sheraton Westport Plaza Hotel

So Monday we had to check out of the Hampton Inn downtown and move to our hotel room over at the Sheraton Westport Plaza Hotel.

The Location was over near Creve Couer area of St. Louis.  This was a very nice neighborhood with a lot of shopping and dining options around, also easy Interstate access.

One thing we definitely liked about this hotel is the elevators were much faster and never crowded.

Our room was on the 4th floor.  It was a King size bed that also had a couch and a little sitting area.

St. Louis – Part I

**Sorry this is wordy/picture heavy but St. Louis is COOL!
More so than I ever thought!!!  Please read…**

When we woke up Sunday morning we were a bit on the lazy side but decided we should get up and head to the Arch before everyone beat us there and we were there all day waiting to go up.  We got there around 9:30 or so.  When you enter the park there are gorgeous views.

And then you get to the main attraction.  They say this is in the area that Louis and Clark crossed the Mississippi River into the St. Louis Area, although remember this wasn’t St. Louis as we know it today :).  This is the Gateway to the West. (more…)

The Old Spaghetti Factory – St. Louis, MO

So after we went up into the Arch, we decided to go down to Laclede’s Landing which was right there in the same area as the Arch.  Once we got down there, we found a map of all the eating places.  Hubby asked me what I wanted and when I saw The Old Spaghetti Factory, I knew that’s what I wanted.  We headed toward the building it was in and had a difficult time figuring out how to enter the restaurant.  By the way, you enter through the alley on the backside of the building between 1st and 2nd street.

Once you’re in the building, you go down this gorgeous staircase to the basement of the building. (more…)

Woody’s Wood Fire Bar & Oven {Pizza}

The Friday night before we left for St. Louis, there wasn’t a whole lot of food in our house, you know since we were going on vacation for a week.  So we decided to head to town and grab a bite to eat.  As we were driving around we were debating on what we wanted to eat when I suggested Pizza.  We went through all of our options and eventually wound up on heading to Joplin and eating at Woody’s Pizza, not to be confused with Woody’s BBQ in Webb City, just to clear that up :).

As you can see, they actually cook your food in a wood fire grill behind us.  The place doesn’t seat that many patrons, but there is also an outdoor patio area as well.

St. Louis Bound

Hubby and I had plans to head to St. Louis on Monday, however, as a last-minute decision, we decided to head up on Saturday.  We went to TB’s birthday party and then headed out toward St. Louis.  St. Louis may not have been our original planned trip, but I’m sooooo glad we went there.  You’d be surprised what this city, that feels like it’s in my back yard (about 4 1/2 hrs away), has to offer.  It was amazing and crazy!

I just so happened to catch my birthday… 7:30 at night with the outside temp at 83 degrees.  7/30/83 🙂 (more…)
