Woolaroc Rendezvous

{warning: Picture heavy!!}

Since we’ve become friends with Karen and Jared, they’ve mentioned doing these rendezvous things. We really didn’t know what that was but told them we would be interested. So basically, you dress up pre-1840’s, you sleep in tents, and that’s kind of the gist.

A few weeks ago, maybe even a month or so now, Karen and Jared showed us this flier they got in the mail for the rendezvous that happened this past weekend. Karen rounded up some clothes for us to wear and we were in.

Friday Abug and I loaded up with Karen and Jared and left early morning. It’s known that I’m not a morning person, they said they were leaving around 9-10am and I was like really (imagine that really in a whiney voice). Yes, really and I was there, rearing and ready to go, Abug in tow. Hubby was coming down after he got off work and picked Tbug up.

Oklahoma Aquarium

Over the weekend we took a day trip to Tulsa. After church a bunch of us loaded up and headed to Tulsa, the rest of our group was already down there. Our destination was the Oklahoma Aquarium. At dive club we’d been talking about taking a trip somewhere and finally we decided on the Oklahoma Aquarium. I guess technically we were in Jenks.

Our group that loaded up didn’t get breakfast so while we were supposed to meet the group already down there at noon, we stopped for a quick bite to eat at the Waterfront Grill and then headed to the aquarium, which put us there around 1ish. Sorry! Anyway the aquarium was a lot of fun.

Sadly because of our jump forward in time and going to church, Abug was up earlier than normal (equivalent to 5am for her). We then couldn’t get her to nap on the ride down so she was a bit sleepy going through the aquarium (as were the rest of us) but she handled it great!

Our trip down was fairly uneventful but we actually saw that precip that falls out of the sky. It was a crazy! I had to document it. (We’ve been on burn bans for the last 2 months)

Valentine’s Day Weekend

It was a Valentine’s Day weekend. Now… if you know, the hubs proposed to me on the 12th of February 6 years ago, so it usually turns into a multi day thing. That’s just how it is. And 6 years ago when he proposed, it was on a Friday and Valentine’s Day was on a Sunday. That weekend however we found ourselves in Branson at a Cheerleading competition.

Anyway this year Valentine’s Day weekend started off with lunch with my dad and my husband followed by coming home to a present 🙂

Horses & Food

Two weekends ago we went riding and since then Abug “talks” about riding in the form of Ride, ride, ride, ride, ride. This last weekend was no different. Hubby went to work on the shower houses back at the campgrounds again on Saturday so Tbug, Abug, and I went to hang out with my dad. I figured it wouldn’t take much and the girls could ride :).

We took one of dad’s saddles to our friend Len to fix and then it was time to head to the horse show that was going on. Dad’s on the board so he makes an appearance plus we like to see what’s going on anyway. Dad bought us lunch at Lucky J (where the show is).

Tbug’s 13th Birthday

I now officially have a teenager on my hands. Holy cow how did that happen? Tbug has been in my life since she was 6 1/2 years old and now she’s a teenager.  The first night I met her she called me her dad’s girlfriend. The next night she was using Memaw’s car hood as a slide and when I said she might not want to do that, I was basically told to mind my own business (not in those words). A lot has changed in 6 1/2 years, a lot!

And sadly I suck these days at taking pictures. I’m not sure what that’s all about… So the big things… Tbug turned 13. We celebrated her birthday on the 1st since this was her mom’s birthday. I heard she was having a sleepover at her mom’s and making her own birthday cake… red velvet with cream cheese icing.

Risky’s Steakhouse at Tbug’s request

Tbug was game for anything on this trip to Ft. Worth, except she had one request… She wanted to eat at Risky’s Steakhouse. A few years ago when we came down to pick up Squirty at the horse breeder, we drove into the Stockyards so that Tbug could see the Ft. Worth Stockyards. That day we ate lunch at Risky’s Steakhouse. They had Calf fries on the menu as an appetizer. On a later venture to Risky’s Steakhouse, we learned that you could also get Calf fries as a meal. Tbug loves Calf fries so when she heard you could get them as a meal, she was sold. So she specifically asked for Risky’s Steakhouse on this trip.

When we got there, mom ordered an appetizer of Shrimp stuffed Jalapeño poppers. They were Gulf sized shrimp stuffed with cream cheese and red peppers then deep-fried to perfection. The problem was there were 5 of us and only 4 poppers. Hubby shared one with me. I mean I guess I’m not huge on shrimp anyway so….. but I did try a bite and they weren’t bad.

Abug was enjoying the rolls, plus some of my Chicken Fried Steak. Her favorite was the potatoes. (more…)

Hoffbrau Steaks – Ft. Worth, TX

Traveling makes a person hungry and steaks in Texas are the place to have! When we pulled in to Ft. Worth, we decided to take Tbug to Hoffbrau, which was just across the street from our hotel so it was perfect, eat lunch and then check in to the hotel before heading over to Will Rogers.

We were all so hungry we decided to start with Texas Pesos. Jalapeño’s deep-fried, covered in cheese, and served with ranch dressing. I was sold! I like cheese and jalapeños and ranch dressing. In fact, looking at these pictures and thinking about them has me drooling for more… (more…)
