Take Two – Fashion Blogger…

We’ve learned that I am not a fashion blogger.  But even for not being a fashion blogger, sometimes it’s fun to take pictures and believe I am one.  I ran out of the house with my cell phone and handed it to my husband, here take my picture please?

I’m thinking that models and fashion bloggers don’t go around sporting the nice “Farmer’s Tan”, but that’s just the way I role.  I worked hard for that tan.  In fact, later that afternoon I worked on a second set of tan lines with this shirt.  Later that day we were headed to the hayfield to pick up 135ish bales of Alfalfa hay.  Boy it was a hot day.  I think I sweat more this last weekend than I have in the last month combined.  It’s been extremely humid.  And a lot of people say, don’t you live in Southwest Missouri?  What do you know about humidity?  Let me tell ya something, we get our fair share by far.  It’s absolutely crazy!

Today there is a 50% chance of rain.  I’m wondering what it will do… Tuesday night there was like a 30% chance.  I guess it poured up on the square at the North end of town but at the ball fields at the south end of town it spit sprinkles here and there.  Once all ball games were over it picked up a bit but never poured like the North end of town received.  And I promise, our town isn’t all that large.

And every post needs a Photobomber, right?  Marlie just wanted her few minutes of fame.

if anyone is interested in knowing what I’m wearing…

//American Eagle jeans//Justin Boots Flip Flops {similar}//Old Navy Tank top//Montana West Belt//Belt Buckle I won showing horses//Wedding band – From hubs!//
So there we have it.  My attempt at being a fashion blogger again.  Not great, but whatever.  Practice makes perfect right?  We’ll stick with that and hope that it at least gets better someday, right??
Typically I’m not crazy about Thursday’s, I know they are the day before Friday but they are usually the longest day of the week in my opinion.  But today, I have fun things planned so maybe it won’t be so bad?  Next week this time Tbug will have been with us for a whole day.  She’s spending extra days with us this week.  Happy Thursday!

Marlie Doesn't Share Bones

**Friend’s Lovers – Can you hear the line where I got the title??**

Over the weekend we went to PetSmart to get some things for the pups.  While we were there hubby found this really large rawhide bone.  He was like, “how funny would it be to see them fight over it?  Especially if Audrey were to get a hold of it.”

The thing is, it’s bigger than Audrey :).  So Sunday morning I was cleaning out the truck and set the bone up on the toolbox.  I told hubby and Tbug where it was just so if 3 of us knew, maybe we wouldn’t forget to at least grab it before we left if nothing else.  While I was still grabbing things in the house, hubby wanted me to grab my camera and come outside.  I guess the minute that hubby took the plastic wrap off, Marlie grabbed the bone out of his hand and took off.

I was trying to get her to come toward me, however she was soooo prancy I couldn’t get her to stand still.  One thing about this silly girl, she gets excited whether she has a bone or a piece of trash and she has to prance around for everyone to see.

Then she ran off toward the front of my car to play hide and seek with the rest of the dogs.

The minute Rio headed toward her, the front paw went on the bone and when Audrey headed her way down went the head.

She wouldn’t even let me grab it from her.  I was trying to get a hold of it for a comparison shot.  I finally got it away from her and handed it to Tbug.  She kept jumping up like I’ve never seen her jump before.  Finally we quit tormenting her and let her have it back and she ran off with it again.

I woke up Monday morning and she was sleeping next to it, placing herself between the bone and the other dogs.

To say Marlie was happy with this purchase would be a huge understatement!

My lazy butt kicked that 5K a$$

**disclaimer: I posted that on facebook (with the whole a-butt word).  I’m not trying to offend someone with my language, but boy was I on a runners high Saturday night!**

Last fall I got it in my head that I wanted to run a 5K.  I’m not really sure why, maybe reading all the blog posts about all the amazing girls who were doing it, I was inspired, I’m not sure but I wanted to do it.  Hubby and I started training for it, but then winter kicked in and I became a hibernating bear.

It was on my 101 in 1001 list of things to accomplish and a goal that I wanted to complete before I turned 30 next month.  I found a race in Joplin that was a night race, The Starry Night 5K, 10K and One Mile Fun Run, told hubby and he signed me up before I had a chance to back out.

Being Father’s Day weekend we wanted to celebrate Father’s Day with my mom before she left at 7am Sunday for China, so we decided to go out to eat on Saturday night.  Mom suggested that we eat Italian (my fave) for the carbs to run so we ate dinner at 4pm.

As we were headed to Joplin a storm started blowing through and of course we were driving right into it.

Then I got the warning that there was a Flash Flood Warning.  Fun!  I may have started grumbling about having to run in this and started getting cold feet about running in the first place.

We met up with mom and dad at Carino’s.  One of my favorite things there is the Chicken Parm but I couldn’t eat it all.  Hubby went with fish.  By the time we left it was pouring rain and we stood in the corridor of the building for a while hoping it would slow down.

This is the only picture of the rain I got, but the streets of Joplin were flooded in a lot of places.

Because of the rain, check in was delayed to start until 7pm.  We got there right about 7 and it had quit raining.  That meant, in fact, we probably were going to be running.  Hubby and I went up to get our packets and check in.

I am proud to say I finished the race.  My dad keeps teasing me that I cheated and had someone pick me up, etc.  Just so you know, I didn’t!

Our official time was 42:27.58.  That made our pace a 13:42 min/mile.

Hubby was a bit ahead of me and waited at the last turn for me to catch up.  I guess everyone kept telling him he didn’t have much more to go and encouraging him to finish but he told them he wanted to cross the finish line with his wife.

Hubby finished 26 out of 27 in his age group.  I came in 45 out of 62 in my age group.  Over all we came in 248/249 out of a total of 290 5K runners.  For our first 5K we were proud of ourselves.  Estimated that we ran about 2 miles of the 3.2 miles that make up a 5K.  That’s extremely good for non-runners like ourselves.

Initially I asked mom and dad to stand with Tbug at the finish line for us, however I told them not to worry about it with the rain so we went to their house after we were finished to pick up Tbug.  As we were driving home, I really wanted ice cream but didn’t say anything until hubby brought it up so we went by Sonic and got 1/2 price shakes.  Hubby and Tbug got Peanut Butter and Chocolate and I got a Chocolate Covered Strawberry shake.

Then we came home and sat in the hot tub to help with our muscles.  I’d say a pretty great end to a fantastic day.  Plus I crossed off a 30 before 30 list, a bucket list and a 101 in 1001 item.

Happy Father's Day!!

This year for Father’s Day was a bit hectic to say the least.  Sadly, my mom missed Mother’s Day because work had her in Germany.  This year, however, work was sending her to China ON Father’s Day.  Oy!  So we decided to celebrate and go out for Father’s Day on Saturday evening, however hubby and I signed up to run a 5K (more to come on that) at 8:30 that night.  Yup it was a night run.  So we ate a late lunch/early dinner.  We were with the Early birds at the lovely hour of 4pm.

Tbug and I didn’t give hubby his Father’s Day present on Saturday night, but we made sure that grandma was around to see grandpa’s (wow that sounds weird still.. lol) present so we took it with us to dinner.  My dad’s present from the 3 of us was socks (remember, we love our socks) and 90 oz of Peanut Butter.  Dad loves his peanut butter and was out, so we made sure he had enough… lol :).

Now I can’t quite remember how it happened, and hubby swears that my mom and I egg it on more than anything, but dad and hubby tease each other about Justin Bieber.  This present from hubby was (newly added) Justin Bieber singing Toothbrush (that sings Boyfriend. hahaha)

As well as the Christmas calendar and hubby’s pillow case he got for his birthday last year.

Sunday morning, Father’s Day, hubby woke up to his present from Tbug and me.

Along with his present of Tbug of course!

I wish you could see his face here.  He absolutely loved it but at the same time covered his face accidentally at the very minute I tried to snap the surprise on his face.

Earl recently got a popcorn maker and hubby has been wanting one.  I went on Amazon and found him this one (not quite like Earl’s but close).  Along with the popcorn maker he got Popcorn Bags, a Popcorn cup, Butter Flavored Oil, Ranch seasoning and 2 deals of Popcorn in a jar.

Guess what we had for breakfast….

Then we all got dressed and headed to lunch at Dos Arcos, which just so happens to be the same place we ate on Mother’s Day… lol.

Then we headed to my parent’s house to spend the afternoon with my dad and ride horses.  Here, Tbug was petting Mudflap and Tulsa decided she needed attention too.

My dad and his pictures he takes with me….

And we played with Snookums and got her saddled for the first time.  I’ll have you know she’s the most laid back, relaxed horse we’ve dealt with doing this stuff for a while.  It’s pretty awesome.

I hope everyone had a Happy Father’s Day and honored those Father’s in your life.

Eating Crow…. Again

Have you ever heard the phrase, Eating Crow?  Or The Taste of Crow never tasted so good, etc?  Well I think I am one getting good at eating crow.  Not the real bird :), just the fact that I’ll say something, (ie I’ll never marry a guy with a kid, but that turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made) and then you/I wind up doing it after all.  Yeah, something like that.

So anyway recently my hubby had been driving my car.  I got in and what did I see?  A nice big blue streak across the seat…

Can’t say I was the happiest about this discovery either.  I started grumbling and asking hubby what he got on my car seat.  We’ve debated if it was pen, paint, chalk, who knows.  I blamed him for it though, that’s for sure.

So this morning when I went to get dressed, I noticed there was something on the pocket of my jeans.  Oh crap, I might actually be the culprit of the blue on my car seat.  Crap crap crap.

PS that is a black arrow I drew on the picture to show the blue spot… just sayin….

I just so happen to be the one in our house who likes blue ink.  Now, does anyone know how to get blue ink off tan leather seats?

Current Thoughts

Have I ever told you that I sing Christmas songs year round?  Well, it’s true.  I’m sitting here in an air conditioned house, while it is 91 degrees outside and supposedly feels closer to 100 and yet I’m sitting in here, in the house, singing We Wish You A Merry Christmas in my head.  Am I delusional?  No, I’m not.  I just really like the song apparently :).  Actually, you know another song I really like?  Well probably not but I’m going to tell you now :).  You Make it Real by James Morrison.  That’s just one of many though.  Right now I think there are 159 songs on my iTunes play list, however there are way more than that on my actual iPhone.  I need to update my play list but sometimes that just seems like it’ll take forever and it will just be a drag so I’m putting it off.  Have I ever told you how much I hate commercials.  When I hate them more is when I actually sit there and repeat the stupid jingle that goes with them, kind of like the Farmer’s Insurance Commercial, We are Farmers and then make the dun du du dun dun dun tune that follows.  Yuck!  Anyway now that that is out there, moving on.

So yesterday I was reading a blog post by Amanda Nolz who has a blog on Beef Magazine and she was talking about how they’re thinking of doing a Bachelor kind of based on Cowboys.  Would you be interested?  I’m not sure I would, but I guess we’ll see.  I don’t really have any other thoughts on that… hmmm, what else is floating around in my head?  The bottom of my laptop is cutting into my legs.  Oy, but if I move it, then it just creates those creases elsewhere.  But I guess we’ll try that for a minute.

My head itches.  Just in the place that I sunburned here recently.  Yup, up in my hair.  It has something to do with that twisted bangs, ya know.  So anyway I’m watching Friends and Pheobe just was talking about Not mine, not mine, not mine.  I love that, especially when she goes, not not mine, not not mine.  Hopefully there are some avid Friends watchers out there.  I sometimes quote lines, especially at Sunday Night Dinner and people look at me like I have horns growing out of my nose.  I promise you, I don’t.  Maybe hidden by my hair, but definitely not out of my nose… lol.  My other absolute favorite quote I say all the time is, “Hey You got the door Open,” said by Monica on the 30th Birthday episode.

Ok, so now that my brain thoughts have exploded all over this blog post, I’m going to leave you.  Hopefully you found some humor in this if nothing else.  Lots of Love, on this beautiful Thursday.  and remember, We wish you a Merry Christmas, we wish you a Merry Christmas, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year :).  haha

Pool, Friends, Food, Running, what more could you ask for?

Sunday Night Dinner took a spin this weekend by moving to our house.  It was pool party night.  Now if you look at our pool in these photos, it looks cloudy.  We got our cover on late last year so we got a bunch of acorns and leaves in the bottom.  Heck we even found a patio chair in the bottom of the pool.  Yeah cool huh?  Along with that we found a Red Solo Cup so we claimed that someone was drinking in the bottom of the pool… lol.

Anyway, one of the awesome things about the group of friends we have, is there are certified Scuba Divers in the group, so that means, when hubby asked JT to come over and help clean the pool, they actually used scuba gear to get to the bottom of the pool.  I love my group of friends.  We may be friends, but we’re more like family!

While hubby and JT were cleaning, Moo and Waldy were having fun swimming.  This is quite the feat for Moo.  We’ve been working with her every year on swimming.  By the end of the night we had her jumping off the diving board with noodles and swimming to the deep end along the side of the wall without the life jacket! Woot!

Waldy is grounded from the diving board, so he was jumping off the side into the deep end.

Can you tell where the 2 scuba divers are?

And then JT accidentally came up under hubby.  It was quite comical.

We usually call dinner at 5, but we don’t usually eat until closer to 6.  While we were finishing up the food, Pokey went into the office and was using hubby’s reloading equipment.

Faye & Uncle B brought pizza.  That was used as the appetizer and I actually didn’t even get any of it.  I know there was pepperoni but from there, I couldn’t tell you what were in either box really.

JT brought French Onion Dip and a few different types of chips.

Hubby & I smoked some Pork Tenderloin.

Diver Girl brought baked Beans.

Mr T brought Linguini with Chicken

And 2 kinds of Potato Salad – Red at the request of Earl, heck yeah!  It’s the best

And the Mustard based type.

No one knew of any dessert that was coming so I whipped up a quick batch of brownies.  {Recipe soon to follow}

Monkey got a new life vest to swim with.  Her daddy put her off into the deep end but she hated it because the water was soooooo cold.  Which we’re on well water so that makes our water quite a bit chillier anyway, then we had to pump more in after hubby and JT were cleaning on the pool.  Finally Monkey got Uncle B to jump in.  Later, Mr. T got in with the scuba gear and the meter read that it was 67 degrees in the pool.  Brrrrr!

We were all discussing the C25K event again and around 8pm, we all decided that we’d run home, get running clothes and meet back up at the Lake and walk/run – train for the C25K and so that’s exactly what we did.

It was a nice, balmy 72 degrees outside.

And we’re off.  The lake was extra crowded this weekend because of the kids fishing day, normally it isn’t quite so crowded, but this picture is mainly us.

See, you just never know what this crazy bunch of people will get into next 🙂  Hang on and enjoy the ride is all I can tell you!

Linking up with SS & IA!!

Chicken Mary’s – Pittsburg, KS

Memorial Day Weekend is about honoring those who have served our country proudly.  My grandpa was one of them!  And if there is one thing I ever learned from him (which I learned way more than one thing!!) he always claimed food was better if you had to travel 45 miles from home or more :).

One of his favorite restaurants was Chicken Mary’s over in Kansas.  It’s kind of become a tradition to load up, visit the graves of our beloved family members and then go to Chicken Mary’s.

When you get there, obviously they give you the menu, but the cool thing is it comes with the story of how the restaurant got started.
