It’s Wedding Season

I don’t know if you know it or not, but summer has officially sprung! Here in the midwest we went from Winter to Summer. Spring, what’s that? I’m pretty sure last fall we didn’t know what Fall was. We just fell from Summer into Winter. Crazy Midwest weather.

But, that being said, It’s coming on big time wedding season. They say that people in the olden days got married in June because they took their yearly shower in June so they’d smell good. But for good measure they carried a bouquet of flowers to hid that musty smell. haha. I sure hope that was a joke! In this instance, I just hope I’m gullible because if that’s true, pew.

Last weekend, I went to a wedding. Yup, that’s where I was headed with all of that. The weather was gorgeous! We drove out to Big Hill Lake near Cherryvale, Kansas. I have a bunch of friends that live in that area. I was apparently only 3 miles from one of them. I’m not sure about the other… but on one of their farm websites they mention Big Hill Lake in their description on where they’re located.

When I got there, wedding preparations were already underway. As you can see, I got in on some good pictures of them making lemonade. We also had taste testers in this endeavor. It was fun. (more…)

10 Interesting Facts About Me | Blogging 30

How many times have I shared facts about myself…. seriously? Like is there anything about myself I could tell you that you don’t already know? Hmmm…. I guess I’ll approach it this way…..

10 Interesting Facts About Me: The Anniversary Edition

  1. My husband and I were both 27 when we got married.
  2. I knew I wanted to get married in the church my parents got married in. It just so happened to be the church I was a member of. It almost didn’t happen, but in the end, it did.
  3. I’m not sure anything will top our 1st Anniversary…. 1 Week in Hawaii.
  4. We honeymooned in Chicago. While people questioned us, it was actually a lot of fun! We ate our way around the city, no joke.
  5. This year, we spent our 7th Anniversary in the Hayfield. Stories to come! (more…)

Drop the ring in the spaghetti plate

Okay so I should come clean about something… I have my moments where I’m sappy! I know fairy-tails don’t exist but that doesn’t keep a girl from still loving the sweet sappy stories. Yep, sometimes it gets me in trouble but whatever, I deal :). So one thing that I’ve always liked was for a guy to be nervous when he proposes. Does that mean I had to have that, no but I soooooo thought it would be awesome if he was :). I also said I didn’t want to know the proposal was coming.

I think what started my obsession (good word) for this whole being nervous was Kenny Chesney. I know there are other artists out there who refer to this, but he has 2 different songs, one refers to dropping the ring in the spaghetti plate and the other talks about being down on one knee on her momma’s front porch.

My husband exceeded all my expectations when it came to proposing to me from throwing me off the night before saying he still hadn’t asked my dad to actually showing up at my work and proposing. It was my fairy-tail.

Now one thing I’ve probably addressed before with our proposal was he bought me flowers even though I’d told him not to. I had to go to the front of my office building to get them which was quite a distance from my desk and that gave my mom time to get him into my cubical to set up. I called him while still up at the front of the building to “grumble” at him for the flowers (not really but we’ll pretend).

He had the ringer turned on on his phone and when it went off he threw the ring while trying to get the ringer turned off on his phone. The ringer was set specifically for me so it would have given him away.

With that knowledge, I realized that he was nervous! I got the nervous part of my fairy-tail. Now if only they would have caught that on film :). How awesome is that though? He was nervous and dropped the ring :).

I do!

Three Years ago today I married one of my best friends.

Please play Hank Williams Jr, Blues Man

This photo was symbolic for us for the simple fact that we went to school together.  We met before we got to the high school, but our friendship strengthened once we were sophomores.  At the time our High School was 10-12, now it’s 9-12.  And sadly our high school building has become the junior high, but either way, this building is where we built upon our friendship all those years ago.  And no, sadly we aren’t “high school sweethearts” but that’s okay.  Everyone needs to build their story somehow and this is ours!

Happy Anniversary my sweet husband.  I love you with all my heart!

Another Walk Down Memory Lane

I decided to share more photos from my Facebook page.  I dunno, sometimes it is fun to go back and look at these.  I can see a difference in myself from the first one (seen here) to the second bunch (seen here) to these.  And these only go up to about April of 2010.  That was 2 years ago.  Dang!  What’s even harder to believe is next month will have been 3 years since I went on my first date with my hubby.

Over the weekend we were talking about how long he and his friend Robert have known each other.  16 years.  Dang that seems like a lifetime… ok maybe not but still, that is the age I was when I graduated high school :).  But really, they’ve known each other longer than they haven’t, if that makes sense.  They both turn 30 this year.

So then we got to talking about how long we’ve known each other {hubby and me} and we’re at 15 years.  I’ve still known him longer than I haven’t.  We met when I was 13 years old, technically we probably met before that, but I really can start to remember the obnoxious Tuba player starting my 8th grade year of school.  And our friendship started blossoming in 9th grade when he’d sing in class with me.  Now I wasn’t a student who acted out, but this one teacher would get under my skin and I’d sing, Garth Brooks “Two Pina Coladas”.  Yes, I know very uncool of me.

Anyway moving on….  Another walk down Memory Lane

Our First Christmas together.

Trying to learn my first dSLR which was a Canon Rebel XS.

Facebook had something going around once on show yourself as a kid.  This is my mom’s favorite photo of me as a child.

Just some random shot I took.  We were actually moving sheep around.

An early Sunday morning after Church.  It was actually very gray, my first attempt at photoshop.

Will You Marry Me

Our weekend trip to Branson the day after he proposed.

Wedding dress shopping.  Boy I was scared of this!  They almost had to take me kicking and screaming!  In fact the joke was they thought they were going to have to get me drunk.  No they didn’t, but I didn’t want to go.

Our engagement photos

I think it was this time that I looked up at him and said, “This feels so real.”  and it brought a little tear to his eye.

Linking up with 2 of my favorite gals here: Impulsive Addict & Seriously Shawn.  You should too b/c you can blog about anything… anything goes!

2 Years

Where were you 2 years ago?  What day would that have been?  What year?  Can you answer any of those questions?  I can.

The day of the week would have been a Friday.  The year would have been 2010.  Starting at 8am in the morning I was making phone calls left and right.  First to the bank, then to the hospital and back again.  The Hospital said I didn’t pay a $25 co-pay bill (that they make you pay in advance before they’ll do anything to you) from 2008.  The bank wanted to charge me $28/hr to research and find the check I had written.  I was arguing with the hospital that they wouldn’t see me without paying the co-pay.  I was arguing with the bank that I wasn’t going to pay $28/hr to find a $25 check.

The bank finally reasoned with me that that wouldn’t have been a smart thing to do.  I finally proved that I paid the $25 co-pay but the hospital didn’t credit it to my account for a while, so therefore they thought I hadn’t paid it.  Gah and people wonder why I don’t go to the hospital/doctor!

About 10am  I was mad.  I had been so shook up because I am one to PAY MY BILLS.  The mail gal came by and saw my face was red and talked to me for a few minutes and then went on her way.  Just as she left Nancy at the front desk called me to tell me I had a beautiful package sitting on her desk.  I told her I’d be up.  I started to do the mail real fast and said, nope, screw it.

Would you like to know what I was wearing?  My husband says I have a steel trapped mind sometimes.  I know what I was wearing this particular day.  One of my favorite pairs of Lucky’s.  My Red Nike Shocks.  A t-shirt that said Tbugs Cheer team on it.  And my Fight like a girl sweatshirt.  Sorry I can’t tell you what bra and panties… I know you’re bummed about that right?

And this was what was waiting for me at the front desk.

Now I had already told the boy, Don’t get me flowers.  I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like them.  What girl doesn’t like flowers, even when she says she doesn’t want them. :).

I called him on my trek back to my desk to give him fits.  He didn’t answer his phone.  Odd because he was just talking to me via g-talk.  That’s fine, whatever I’ll go hit him up when I get back to my desk.

Engagement Photo Re-do

I kind of got away from multiple posts a day (I did that a lot last summer).  Then I was reading Tiffany’s Blog, The Apple Doesn’t Fall Far and she was doing a post on engagement photos because of a blog link up party at Chasers of Kaysers who is getting close to getting her own engagement photos taken.  She said we could use old posts so I went digging for my engagement photos that were taken last April and I realized I put straight out of the camera photos… but none from after the photographer did some touch-ups.  I liked our engagement photos and had a blast doing them, but at the same time, I’m not 100% sure they were the photos of my dreams, but there were some excellent photos taken non-the-less so… I’m going to share them again.

I’m sure she’d love if you’d like yours up as well if you had an engagement photo session.  And if you link up, please let me know… I’d love to look at them as well 🙂
Hope you enjoy 🙂
