I do!

Three Years ago today I married one of my best friends.

Please play Hank Williams Jr, Blues Man

This photo was symbolic for us for the simple fact that we went to school together.  We met before we got to the high school, but our friendship strengthened once we were sophomores.  At the time our High School was 10-12, now it’s 9-12.  And sadly our high school building has become the junior high, but either way, this building is where we built upon our friendship all those years ago.  And no, sadly we aren’t “high school sweethearts” but that’s okay.  Everyone needs to build their story somehow and this is ours!

Happy Anniversary my sweet husband.  I love you with all my heart!

Good Bye St. Louis – I’ll Miss you!!!

Sadly when hubby and I woke up on Saturday morning, we had to pack our belongings and move them all to the car.  Sadly, our time was up on vacation.  This was one of the most relaxing vacations I’ve been on in a while and we still did quite a bit of stuff even.

One thing I wanted to do before we left town was to go to Trader Joe’s.  There was also another grocery store right there across the road and yes, I get my kicks by going to the grocery store and walking the aisles.  I guess I’m deprived of actual grocery stores back home… we have Wal-Mart…

Mac n’ Cheese Puffs, yes, please. (more…)

Five Guys Burgers & Fries – St. Louis, MO

If there’s one thing hubby and I enjoy, that’d be a good hamburger/cheeseburger.  While we were driving around St. Louis, we noticed, again just in our neighborhood, a Five Guys Burgers and Fries.  My mom introduced us to this when we were in Fayetteville so we knew before we left town we soooo had to try it out.  And that we did.

When you enter you can grab yourself some peanuts to eat at your table, but look at those bags of potatoes!  Seriously!!! (more…)

Kobe Japanese Grill at Westport – St. Louis, MO

So funny story… after our nap on Friday while we were in St. Louis, we woke up around dinner time.  Somehow we decided upon this Kobe Japanese Grill, so I looked up the directions, we got in the car and we took off.  It said it was only 4 miles… yeah the 4 miles we went dropped us off in the middle of nowhere (not really… it was a neighborhood) on a street that didn’t exist.  Now what’s funny is as we got on the road from the hotel, I noticed the GPS showed a Kobe on the map.  I questioned hubby but we decided to follow directions.  Yeah, big mistake.

After we realized we were in a neighborhood, we turned around and went back to the hotel.  I knew there were other places there by the hotel if we couldn’t find the Japenese Grill.  So we wandered around this area which btw, we found LOTS of stuff we didn’t know was there.  Finally, we realized that it was on the 12th floor of one of the buildings so up the elevator we went.  Sure enough, there it was.

Hermann Wurst Haus – Hermann, MO

So if there’s one thing you know about my husband and me, we like to eat food :).  We’re also not afraid to try different foods either.  So on Friday of our St. Louis trip, we decided to head over to Hermann, MO and check out the wineries.  Well, something you may or may not know about Hermann is it was settled by a lot of German settlers, so, therefore, German food.

I told hubby that I wanted to eat somewhere in Hermann.  Now I have to share this piece right here, I googled the best places to eat in Hermann and it pulled up the top 18.  Number 18 just so happened to be Hardees… lol 🙂

Anyway, back to my story, one of the restaurants that pulled up was the Hermann Wurst Haus.  It also said they had cured meats so hubby and I plugged the directions into the GPS and away we went.  From where we were, Hermann was about a 70-mile drive, which wasn’t bad and we got to see some gorgeous Missouri country.

Once we got there,  they invited us in to do a sample tasting of some of their brats.

Thursday in St. Louis

So when we woke up on Thursday, it was a cloudy, sorta rainy kind of day.  We got up and got dressed and decided to go grab breakfast at Denny’s since we knew we could get a big breakfast and not worry about lunch.

We bought tickets online to go to Six Flags.  By buying online, we got a discount but we had to wait 5 days to use them.  That put us up to Thursday.  Since it was raining on Thursday we were debating on if we wanted to use our tickets that day or not but finally decided after Tbug and had such great luck on my birthday with rain and amusement parks we decided to take our chances. Romano’s Macaroni Grill – St. Louis, MO

So one of my husbands & my favorite Italian places to eat just so happens to be Romano’s Macaroni Grill.  My love affair started back when I was a teenager down in Ft. Worth TX which just so happens to be the one I took my husband to when we started dating.  While we were in St. Louis we noticed that there was one just around the corner from our hotel, so we were sold.  We knew at some point during our stay that we had to go; Thursday night just so happened to be the day.

After we spent our day at Six Flags, we decided to go back to the hotel, get cleaned up and dressed up and head for dinner.  Btw, have I ever told you just how much I love Italian food? (more…)

St. Louis Take 4

We were woken Wednesday morning by the information that there was flooding of rivers along I-44 and around and south of Rolla the water was actually over I-44 and the interstate between St. Louis and home was shut down.  They were having to reroute people around the flooding, and when your major interstate is flooded, that’s…. fun!  I was wondering how we’d get home, luckily we had a few days for it to recede.

While we were watching the News and searching the internet, we decided to eat leftover pizza for breakfast so once we were up and dressed, we weren’t all that hungry, so we decided to get Cold Stone Creamery for lunch.

From there, we decided to head to the outlet mall we found while we were doing some google searches.  As we were headed down the highway we saw this interesting vehicle… Not sure what it was but I sure would have liked to have known! (more…)

Cold Stone Creamery – St. Louis, MO

When we woke up Wednesday morning, we actually finished off our leftover pizza from the night before so by the time we got up and dressed, we just decided to grab ice cream for lunch since we’d be eating dinner earlier in the evening.  There was a Cold Stone Creamery up the road from our hotel, and since we don’t have one close to home, we knew that’s where we wanted to go.

I loved their handle to enter the building. (more…)

P.F. Changs – St. Louis, MO

Before hubby and I were going to see the Broadway Musical, West Side Story, we decided we should grab dinner.  We had a gift card to an Italian restaurant so I plugged that into the GPS and she took us to the restaurant.  We had to park in a parking garage and as we were emerging from the parking area, I started smelling something really good.  It could have been that I was really hungry :).  Anyway, we came out right in front of the P.F. Changs.  I knew hubby was kind of getting tired of Italian and I asked if he’d be interested in P.F. Changs.  He was like…. um… so I knew what that meant and we entered.

One of our favorite things to do here is to get the meal for 2.  You get a starter soup, an appetizer to share, 2 entrees, and 2 mini desserts. (more…)
