Happy Halloween y'all!

It’s that time of the year. Time for the witches and ghouls and goblins to come out and start tricking us for treats. Oh yeah I just said that 🙂 It would also be known as October which means Pumpkin Carving for Halloween!! This is the last weekend we’ll have Tbug in October so we knew what we needed to do….

This year hubby participated in the Underwater Pumpkin Carving and so we bought new tools for him to take down with him because we weren’t sure where the ones from previous years were. Good thing too because we still haven’t found them. Woops! With the new tools, came a new book with new patterns so Tbug couldn’t decide if she wanted to use a pattern or make up her own. In the end, she decided to go with the book.

Have I ever told you how good my husband is to us? He helped Tbug with her pumpkin, helped me with mine, and still did his own. Yup, he’s awesome like that. He takes such good care of us! He chose to use a pattern out of the book as well.

I was the rebel child. I’m not one for following patterns, so I made my own. Oh yeah, I’m cool like that, or else I’m just a rebel child or don’t know how to follow the lines :). You choose.

Ah, my loves. I was the first one finished, partially because I made my own pattern so I didn’t have to wait for the pattern tool and partially because I think I started first.

Our finished pumpkins. We had to do them Friday night because we had a jam packed weekend so we got finished around 11pm.

But, 11pm makes great time for photos!  Tbug’s, mine, hubby’s.

Happy Halloween y’all! 🙂

Frantic Friday

1. Not really Frantic, I just couldn’t think of anything else to title it. Oy, this has been an interesting week. NOTHING it seems has really happened. Craziness. I’m not really even sure what to post about, sad time. No thoughts. No events. Nothing.

2. I’ve bugged poor HickChickBritt a lot this week. Sorry! Anyone else wanna give me their number so I can bug them… lol 🙂 I promise, I’m not crazy :).

3. I’m sitting in the library and accidentally just dropped my phone on the table and the guy sitting across from me looked at me then kind of half way grinned. Woops. Sorry dude!

4. Not having class yesterday has really thrown my schedule off. The professor was in Colorado for some reason…

5. So this last weekend hubby and I ventured in to Hobby Lobby. I love that store and hate that I’ve heard rumor that they might be closing due to Obamacare. I’m not going to discuss politics, we’ll leave it at that but Just know I LOVE THAT STORE. While I was there I found my bottles I like putting my homemade vanilla in on sale so we bought up what was left and then decided it was close enough to time for Christmas that we should start working on our Vanilla. I promise, I’m not an alcoholic. They had Vodka (one of the key ingredients) on sale (not Hobby Lobby) so we bought extra and got them (as in the bottles) all started in making homemade vanilla. One of the ladies I used to work with, her son tried drinking it… thought vanilla flavored vodka. Take his word for it that yuck. I’m not about to try it!

6.  I mentioned that I didn’t have to go to school yesterday. I can tell you I did absolutely nothing. Ok so I bugged Brittin and I took a shower. I ate my lunch for breakfast and peanut butter sandwich for lunch. I changed out of PJ’s into yoga pants and a long sleeved t-shirt around 11am and finally put on jeans to go to Pokey & Earl’s around 5:45. I did a bit of homework though. That’s good, right? Although I was even lazy in that area.

7. Remember when everyone’s beloved Picnik went away? And then Picmonkey came out? Well yesterday while I was doing nothing, I was perusing around on facebook (big waste of time) and one of my friends from college was debating making a photography book.  Anyway, reading through her posts she was talking about finding Picasa then someone suggested Ribbit.  I had to go play around on it.  Super easy and fun.  If you want to try it out, you definitely should!

8.  So maybe you knew or maybe you didn’t, I got myself a blogging gig for our local dive shop. I know the guys rebuilding the site and they asked if I’d be interested in writing a blog about Scuba Diving. I said sure! So yesterday I am proud to admit that I wrote next weeks blog post. I sent it to Deb and Dan to verify the information I grabbed from the SDI website (where our certification is through) was correct (since it correlates with our local shop). Dan finally sent me back an email late at night and at the end it said sent from DVRDan’s iPad (not quite that order). So hubby was like you soooo need to email him back and say it’s about Dan Time. lol 🙂 I love our diver friends.

9. So back to the whole Hobby Lobby experience… some of you who follow me on Instagram may have seen a picture that looks very similar to this. Actually, it was this exact photo. So yeah…. they had letters made out of faux deer antlers and I was looking at them. Hubby talked about one and I picked this one up and said, ooo look at these. Turns out I was holding them just like this and hubby was like, hunny, you already have a nice rack. Of course a lady was walking by just as he said that and she about died laughing. I’m sure I turned bright red.

10.  I told you, not a lot has been going on. So this picture… this pair of jeans, for some reason I step on one heel while the other heel sits just at the base of my heel. I can’t explain it but it sure does drive me nuts!

And that’s all she wrote boys (and girls!!)

Let's Talk Socks

Seriously, who doesn’t LOVE brand new socks?  They just have that warm, cozy feeling.  That brand new, out of the package feel.  It’s hard to describe, but it’s there, trust me, if you don’t see it that is.

So here a while back hubby, Tbug and I were walking through Walmart and we found cute socks.  Now if there is anything to know about us…

  1. I love new socks
  2. The cuter the socks, the better
  3. Tall socks are great for boots
  4. Tbug never has socks, even when we buy her socks
  5. So she wears mine.

Most of the time it’s just easier to tell her to wear my socks anyway.  All socks we buy her I swear disappear.  Maybe she eats them, or the cat plays with them?  Either way, she wears my socks most of the time.  And when she can’t find matching socks, she wears mis-matched socks… but that is the cool thing to do so whatever.

But I must complain…  Do you see a problem with this sock?  (look at where the arrow is pointing!)

How on EARTH does she make the socks dirty?  Those socks were worn 1 time.  That’s it… they were brand spankin new socks and she makes them dirty.  She does that with every pair of socks I have whether they are brand new or old.

You see these socks?  I’ve worn them 3 times and they’re still clean.

Can someone PLEASE explain this to me………..?

The Good, Bad & Ugly

***Please don’t judge me… I’m just nervous!***

So here we are, it’s 10:54 at night and I have to type this up.  Not always does our life go as we planned.  Not always do we see the good in all circumstances.  In fact, I have no idea when this will post at this point because I have no idea when hubby and I are going to announce to the world that we’re expecting (heck even typing that freaks me out) but along with all the good in our life comes the bad and sometimes we also just want to remember times like this.  So this may just be for me, but please share with me.

Last night I took the pregnancy test that came back positive.  When I walked out of the bathroom with it in my hand I just showed hubby.  He jumped up off of the love seat throwing his food to the side and bear hugged me.  Not the best move as I was kind of nauseous feeling anyway, but the thought that the test came back positive made me sick as all get out to my stomach.  To say I didn’t react as a normal happy person would is a bit of an understatement.

I went to school today and we’re studying Othello by Shakespeare.  All I could think about was, is my sweatshirt hiding my bloated stomach.  I know, not what most people would be thinking but I kind of feel that 16 year old in me coming out.  No, I never was pregnant at 16 just to clarify.

Most days I see myself as a first time around, traditional college student.  Sadly I see myself in life where most people of that age would find themselves instead of someone who just turned 30 this summer.  That right there is enough to scare me out of my mind.

So anyway after school I usually go hang out in the library, read blogs, study, etc for a bit and then I go home.  Well I wasn’t feeling all that well so I just decided to go ahead and come home.  Poor HickChickBritt, I was bugging the crap out of her today.  I just seriously needed someone to talk to because it helped keep my mind off what was going on.  Sorry I couldn’t tell you at the time HickChickBritt!!

The Wrap Up – 101 in 1001

So a while back… you know, as in back in 2010, after reading that a lot of people jumped on the bandwagon to do the 101 in 1001 list, I decided to play along.  I’m pretty sure if I remember right, after seeing Jill sign up, I decided I needed to as well.  She was one of my newest followers at the time, and really there were lots of other people but I’m pretty sure she was the one who pushed me over the edge.

I printed my list off and carried it with me for over 2 years.  That paper saw better days, that’s for sure.  Parts of it I had to reprint a couple times for different reasons… but the paper stayed in my purse and was carried around with me for 2 years.

I would pull it out when I went to places to see if I could cross anything off.  Sadly there were things on here that caused me problems and there were things I was unable to finish for whatever reason, but it was a fun list to attempt and I was able to cross a lot of things off.

The list I finished with wasn’t the original, I wound up having to modify it a bit for one reason or another, but here is the list and what I was able to accomplish or the things toward the end I knew wouldn’t happen.

We’re finally closing that chapter of this list.  I haven’t worked on it in a while, I just finally found a time to recap it 🙂 (more…)

Awkward Moments

{Typed up on September 23, 2013)
You know those awkward moments in life.  Come on, I know you do, we all have them at some point or another.

So a priceless moment is hubby going to buy a pregnancy test.

I hadn’t been feeling well and not to say we were trying, but at the same time, we weren’t preventing anything either so hubby wanted me to take a pregnancy test when I started not feeling well.  So after he couldn’t convince me to go buy one, he went to the drug store on his way home from work one evening and tried to quickly grab one and get out.

You know how that story goes, especially when you’re in a small town drug store.  A guy walked up and said, “Can I help you?”  He was like {thinking crap}, “I’m trying to find a pregnancy test.”  The guy told him they were to his right.  The two gals behind the counter said, “Do you see them?”  He looked over and saw all kinds of other random stuff but no tests so he was like, “No.”  So one gal came over to help him.

He said it was quite embarrassing because they brought out the Gangnam style dancing at the chance to help him find a pregnancy test.

He went through all of that for nothing because I wound up not needing to take the test anyway.

The next month…

For about a week I felt nauseous.  I kind of thought it was due to eating dinner late, especially after bouncing around on a tractor in the hayfield of an evening.  Finally hubby suggested I go ahead and make use of that test.  He was like it was cheap so why not.  Well, leave it to me.  I screwed it up the first go-round, as in I didn’t pee on it.  Yup, I’m cool like that.  So we waited the time it said and notta.  It didn’t even register.  We looked at each other dumbfounded and he asked me if I read the directions.  Of course, I didn’t because I felt dumb doing that in the first place. How to: Eat a Fudge Pop

So the other day hubby and I were eating Fudge Pops.  They’re sugar free but you sure can’t tell it, they taste great.  Anyway… I ate down to the stick and then hubby looked at me like I was eating it weird, so I thought I would share with you….

Once I get to the stick, then I turn it sideways and start biting to the stick.

See… That weird?

Once all of it is bitten off one side, I turn it over and start biting off the next side.

Until it is all gone, then I turn it again.

Once I am left with this side…

I just pry it off with my tongue and yum.  It’s all gone.  (by the way this is a horrible angle on me, just saying!)

And there you have it… How to eat a Fudge Pop the Nicole way, I guess… lol.  Does anyone else eat fudge pops this way?  Or am I just crazy?  Maybe you shouldn’t answer that last question.
