Pumpkin Patches: Annabelle’s Fun Farm

I’ve always said that my falls just go by in the blink of an eye. I guess there is so much going on, but add three holidays in there and wow! Last year I really wanted to take Abug to a pumpkin patch and wanted Tbug to be there. This year same thing, but knowing how my October was the rest of the month, and the fact that we’re over halfway through the month already, I knew that wasn’t going to happen. In fact, it was a quick last minute decision to go to the pumpkin patch this last weekend.

This year we decided to drive to Welch, Oklahoma and go to Annabelle’s Fun Farm. A friend of mine went last year, she has a little girl who is 7 months older than Abug and then a little boy who is a couple years older and it looked like they had fun there last year so that’s kind of one of the decisions in this choice.

There was a petting farm area with a pony (which Abug hated… she loves horses but wasn’t crazy about the pony), goats (didn’t care for), pigs (didn’t like), rabbits (scared of) and birds (chickens, peacocks, etc).

Dad’s Birthday

My dad’s birthday was Friday. Does it seems sad that all I have are stories and pictures of food? Just a thought….

Yup, dad’s birthday was Friday. Dad had to work. Hubby had to work. And if you want to call what I was doing work, I did too… although I don’t. More on that to come!

Anyway I made plans to get Tbug so she could be there for dad’s birthday dinner. Turns out her mom and {step}dad were eating at the same place we were, Texas Roadhouse, so she just road there with them and I went and got her from inside the restaurant. hehe. Hey don’t knock it, she got to see grandpa on his birthday and that’s what matters.

Abug had stayed with mom on Friday since I had prior plans for the days adventures so she rode over to the restaurant with grandma, grandpa and Grandma J (great grandma). They were there when we got there. I ran in and got Tbug and we were all present and accounted for :).

They had a guy dressed up as an armadillo, he walked up and stood right next to Tbug and scared her. It was funny and cute.

Our number was called and we went in. Mom gave dad his birthday present right then (ours wasn’t here yet to give him so he’s still waiting). It was a photo frame to hang Tbug’s showing picture on the wall with the rest of them. The only thing he’s really said he wanted. Plus he got a new book, but I don’t know which one. I then ran the stuff out to the truck for them so we didn’t have to sit with it at the table all through dinner.

Next, it was time to eat!

Bread and cinnamon butter. What more could you ask for. really? I mean couldn’t you just make a meal out of that? I guess if not, I can still answer, I can.

Weekend review – Better late than never!

This last weekend started off with celebrating my grandpa’s birthday Friday night. On our way down to pick my grandma up my dad got a phone call from a friend asking him to come over and ride horses Saturday morning.

I knew hubby had plans on cleaning up around the house… no specifics were know, just the knowledge of it. So when dad asked if we wanted to go ride with him, Tbug, Abug, and I jumped at the chance. Come on, ride horses or work… you decide. Hubby is a good sport and said, “well you girls have fun.”

We got up early enough Saturday morning that we could run through town and get breakfast, then we headed to my parents house. Dad decided we could eat breakfast before we unloaded horse/cow feed (don’t worry we got him some too) so I sat Abug down on the dog food for a place to eat her breakfast. If you want to know how to keep a toddler still for a photo, give her food! :). haha.

Then it was time to unload feed. Tbug decided to help Grandpa carry the feed into the barn so I drug the sacks to the back of the tailgate so they could grab them. I stayed at the truck though to watch Abug and make sure she didn’t decide to nose dive off the tailgate.

Then Abug and I jumped in the front seat of the truck and moved it over to the trailer so we could hook it up, load up the horses and head to Wayne’s house.

Once we got to Wayne’s house Abug and I stayed on the outside of the fence for a few minutes while they warmed horses up. Our horses hadn’t really been ridden in about a month to a month and a half so I didn’t want her on one that might act up.

Pensacola Beach Eats: Peg Leg Pete’s

I definitely wouldn’t have nearly as many posts about Pensacola Beach if I didn’t break each restaurant down into its own post… that’s for sure. I think I might think about food way too much too…. look how much I’ve been talking about food. And it’s not like everyone enjoys looking at what we ate… but that’s okay, it’s memories. Some day when we’re all eating pills for our nutrition… the future will be able to see how we pigged out on real food :). You’re welcome future!

btw, I’m eating animal crackers right now. 🙂

When we got back from Deep Sea Fishing we were hungry. The night before we’d tried to get into Peg Leg Pete’s but the wait was so horrendous we wound up at Hemingway’s Island Grill instead. We decided at 3 pm on a Monday, surely we could get in for lunch, right? You betcha we did so we finally got to try the… Peg Leg Pete’s.

Pensacola Beach Eats: Crabs on the Beach

Saturday for lunch we met with Lee, Kiran and their clan, then after that hubby and I had appointments to get massages. When we left for the massage it started to sprinkle, while we were getting our massage it was pouring. Pouring rain so hard that we could hear it inside the building. I said the thunder and rain added to the ambiance.

When we got back to the hotel we all just hung out for a little bit before the question was posed, What’s for Dinner?

One of the recommendations we’d had was Crabs on the Beach. We decided that sounded like a good deal. So hubby went out, got the suburban, came up to the door, and chauffeured us all around.

Pensacola Beach Eats: Red Fish Blue Fish

How many people can say they travel 10 hours or so from home and eat lunch with friends from your area? *raises hand*

So one of our friends is from Florida, not exactly sure where. His girls went to Florida for the summer to spend time with their mother and families down there. He just so happened to be headed down to pick them up around the same time we were headed down for vacation, so it was time for a friends meet up 10 hours away.

We decided to meet up at Red Fish Blue Fish which was right there on Pensacola Beach. I thought it was cool that it looks like the building is made of old shipping containers. Then I went onto the website and found out that the entrance was made of old wooden planks that were from an old Coca Cola warehouse north of Pensacola. Then they verified that the building was in fact re-purposed shipping containers. So there ya have it.

Pensacola Beach: Holiday Inn Resort

Oh hi, I’m home from vacation. Oh… you didn’t know I was on vacation? Well, I may have kind of omitted that. I didn’t want someone to break into my house while I was gone…. haha! Yeah, we’ll go with that. Or maybe I was a little worried to wish my summer away to get to vacation because that means I’m just days away from school starting and I’m really worried about that, to be honest with you! Either way, whatever, I’m home!

I only took a little over 500 photos in 5 days. That’s a little over 100/day on average. Definitely less than the 2,500 photos we took in Hawaii, but as I continue to weed through the photos… I’ll leave you with the hotel we stayed at while on vacation.

When our plane arrived we had a car service waiting for us to pick us up and take us to the hotel. My parents were on a different flight and they had to pick up the rental car, the rental car company wouldn’t allow us to, so that’s when hubby and my mom found this company and had a service waiting to pick us up. I would recommend if you need a ride from the airport via car service to use Pensacola Airport Shuttle.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Resort. It was great.

Our room was on the 8th floor. There were 3 elevators so we rarely had to wait long for one. We were up high enough we had a pretty darn good view. And the hotel has 11 floors. Some rooms are Oceanside with balcony’s, the others are bayside with just a normal window view. We were bayside. Hey, we weren’t in our room all that much! (more…)

Multiple Stories – We’ll call it confession Friday :)

I really like stories, so today I have quite the story for you :).

Back in 2009 I had a big group of friends that got together every month and we referred to ourselves as The Dinner Club. Our goal was to go to local restaurants that weren’t chain restaurants. Usually we liked Business Casual or dressier but we made a few exceptions every now and again. Okay so one night we went to Bayou. This was like in May.

Okay now jump forward, I think to October that year…. Hubby had moved home from Ft. Campbell and it was my dad’s birthday. We thought it might be fun to take him to eat for his birthday at Bayou but we didn’t want to tell him where we were going. I jumped in the driver’s seat, had him get in the passenger seat and everyone else got in the truck. Then we drove to Monett. He asked me where we were going and for some reason we all said, Mazzio’s in Monett.

So Mazzio’s in Monett has been the joking answer for a long time to a lot of What’s for Dinner questions.

Now we’re in the year 2015, my dad has recently gotten a new job, and when Tbug found out it was in Monett she said, “So we can meet grandpa for lunch at Mazzio’s in Monett.”

Last week Tbug was with us from Wednesday evening through Sunday evening so I thought it would be fun to drive down and meet up with my dad for lunch. I mentioned it to my mom and she was game because she likes Mazzio’s so it was set.
