Wedding Cakes

So how many of you have gone shopping for cakes, whether it be a wedding, birthday, special occasion, doesn’t matter… Most everyone thinks the same thing… Geez, they are expensive. Some of the wedding cake mark up is just because it contains the word: Wedding. Other costs that go into that price though are of course your ingredients but a large majority of it is time. Doing a wedding cake takes time and effort! The lady I have doing mine goes home from work, takes a nap, and then gets up about 11 pm or so and starts baking the cake and lets it cool and then decorates all through the night so that the bride and groom have the freshest cake possible. Not always is this the case though… some bakeries have frozen cakes for just in case emergencies… ie slam on the breaks going to deliver and the cake gets creamed!

I’ll warn you right now this is a picture loaded blog! If you don’t like pictures, don’t read/look!

The joke at work is I always need a new hobby. In 2008 that hobby was cake decorating so I took classes and practiced, practiced, practiced.

Here are a couple of cakes I did BEFORE I took the cake decorating classes.

I LIED!!!

I said I wasn’t going to share this until after the wedding, but I got to thinking about it… Who reads this that is actually coming to my wedding? I don’t think anyway which is kind of sad! But I’m so excited I just had to share!!! So if by chance, someone reading is attending the wedding, Act Surprised!! 🙂

Joint Parties!!

So I was going to post this on Saturday but obviously didn’t get it done. By the way, one phrase you don’t want to hear when trying on your wedding gown, “It doesn’t Fit.” Then add in one of the bridesmaids says hers doesn’t fit. And then watch the zipper get broken on the Mother of the Bride dress. Top that off with turning your hair Blonde, and hey you have a party and a half!

So we started off Saturday headed to the florist. That all looks good. Then PC and Tbug left and went home and my mom and I ran errands. I’d decided I wanted highlights in my hair. PC told me to go get them done but my mom and I have done them out of the box before and it turned out just fine so I figured crunch time, I’ll just save some money. We bought a box and proceeded on. My hair just turned blonde in the process. 🙂 I have a few highlights of my natural hair color 🙂 It doesn’t look bad, it’s just a lot more blonde than I had imagined! (please ignore this picture it makes me look like I have back boobs or something :(…)
So then I went home and tried my dress on so we could work on making the bustle and mom kept pulling and pulling and pulling and I said, “What doesn’t it fit.” Jokingly of course and she said, “No.” About that time my heart hit my toes. Ok so instead of losing weight as a bride to be, I’ve gained 4 lbs. Seriously 4 lbs shouldn’t make a dress like that not fit… That’s water weight. I got to thinking when I tried it on it, it was with one of those bras that also sucked in your midsection and Saturday I only had on a strapless so that means I’m on the hunt for a mid-section sucker inner 🙂

So I texted both my gals standing up with me. Well one has her dress so she tried it on Saturday night and guess what, it didn’t fit. But it’s all good, I have the shawl that came with the dresses so she’s just having it altered.

So mom’s dress has a hidden zipper. Those always make for difficulty zipping up dresses so I didn’t zip it up all the way. Once she took it off and had it laying on the bed she went to zip it up and the zipper broke. Woohooooooo!

I can’t say I wasn’t a little frustrated by the end of Saturday but you know, it’s one day. It’s the lifetime after that really matters so hey… I might be getting married in jeans and boots but the important thing is I’m marrying my best friend, right?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So back to what I was going to post Saturday. A week ago Saturday, the day after my surprise lingerie shower, we had our bachelor/bachelorette parties. We did it as a joint effort :). This was still a surprise to me as well although PC was very much involved in it all.
We went to Frontier City in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It was a lot of fun but boy was it hot! If you’ve ever been to Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri, it is very similar to that just not nearly as big.
I’ve always wanted one of those old time photos taken. We decided we’d do one with our wedding party (since that was who was involved plus Noah’s girl he brought.)
Kalem, Noah, PC, Me, April, Shantel, & Evelyn
It was such a hot day! Noah and Shantel left before the rest of us. Then April left and drove on to Texas. Kalem, Evelyn, Mark and I though, we were hot, tired, hungry and thirsty! We drove down the road to Cracker Barrel and ate dinner. We couldn’t wait for our waitress to come get our drink orders and bring them back. She no more than brought the first round and PC told her she might as well bring his second round. So she went after that and we all proceeded to go through the menu. She came back, took our orders, walked off and brought us a pitcher of Coke. Since Kalem doesn’t drink coke, he had Dr. Pepper so she brought him 2 more glasses on top of what he already had.
Kalem pretending to drink the Coke straight from the pitcher.
Here were his extra Dr. Peppers.
We had a blast. I’m not really the stripper kinda gal so this was perfect for me!
This was taken somewhere between Oklahoma City and the first toll booth outside of Stroud. If you can’t tell it is 8:40pm and still 91 degrees.
While we were driving through Tulsa PC looked down and noticed that it was 99 degrees. Come on, we’re going North, not South!!!
Ok this car here, you can’t see it’s license plate but it cracked us up. It said “PITHED”. I think it might have been a combo of hot and tired but we laughed our heads off.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Maybe I should also tell you about our Friday night… PC and I are not living together. We decided even though we have the house, we are not living together until after we are married. So I haven’t stayed in our house since I was 16 and it was owned by other people. After the shower was over on that Friday night we thought, well let’s just stay here. Everyone was meeting up at our house anyway so we thought we wouldn’t have to get up nearly as early. You know, sleep in… This is a joke because I can sleep in on weekdays and on weekends I’m wide awake at 6am…

So anyway… we ran back to my parents house so I could grab some clothes and then went back to our house. So it was about 11:15-11:30 when we got home. I realized the shirt I wanted to wear was dirty so I threw it in the washer and jumped in the shower, and then once I was out we sat on the couch watching tv trying to stay awake. So when the washer went off and I hung my shirt up and threw all the rest in the dryer we headed to bed. All I could hear was every noise: the windmill squeeks, the dryer was running, the clock on the dresser was ticking, the air conditioner kicking on and off and on again. I was about to go nuts. Just about the time I thought I could finally drift off to sleep the door bell rings. I looked at the clock, 12:45am. Who the heck is at the door?

April left her cell phone at our house but I really didn’t think it was her. Who was it? PC went and answered the door. It was the neighbor. We left our gates open so she came up the driveway. Said she was sorry to wake us but that there was a GMC Jimmy parked on one side of our driveway that they had the sheriff remove and 2 guys walking through our woods with flashlights that the guy in the Jimmy wasn’t with and just wanted us to know. Then she proceeded to introduce herself and her family and ask if the previous owners lived there still and on and on for probably 10-15 minutes.

Yup you guessed it, once she left then I really couldn’t sleep. In fact the windmill started sounding like a screeching dog. I so can’t wait until Bear moves out there with us!

And then, I was wide awake at 6am on Saturday morning. So much for sleeping in!

Saturday night we got home around midnight and Sunday I slept in until 10:30am! Woohoooo one day defeated!

So there was our bachelor/bachelorette party!

Joke time:
A little boy was in a relative’s wedding. As he was coming down the aisle, he would take two steps, stop, and turn to the crowd. While facing the crowd, he would put his hands up like claws and roar. So it went, step, step, ROAR, step, step, ROAR, all the way down the aisle. As you can imagine, the crowd was near tears from laughing so hard by the time he reached the pulpit. When asked what he was doing, the child sniffed and said, “I was being the Ring Bear.”

Peace, Love, & Bears!

More Games

Okay back to the party games. The next one was rather funny too! Everyone in attendance (but me) was told to write out the house chore they hated the most and give a reason. Once all had done that, Evelyn collected them and handed them to me. Then I was told to read them out loud but replace the chore with, “I hate sex because…” and finish it with their reason for hating the house hold chore.

  • I detest cleaning the shower because the only way to get it clean is to get wet. (I hate sex because the only way to get it clean is to get wet.)
  • I hate doing dishes because it sucks and because I am a crazy messy cook (I hate sex because it sucks and because I am a crazy messy cook.)
  • I hate doing laundry because it takes to much time and I don’t like folding it (I hate sex because it takes to much time and I don’t like folding it.)
  • Folding laundry because it’s too tedious (I hate sex because it’s too tedious.)
  • Scrubing under the toilet seat because it has dried on pee (I hate sex because it has dried on pee.)
  • Dusting because I don’t like moving everything around to dust under it (I hate sex because I don’t like moving everything around to dust under it.)
  • Mopping because I have a lot to do and it takes forever (I hate sex because I have a lot to do and it takes forever.)
  • I dislike all housework that’s why I work at a salaried job (I hate sex that’s why I work at a salaried job.)
  • I hate cleaning the bathroom sink because it always has little bits of mascara in it (I hate sex because it always has little bits of mascara in it.)
  • Picking up papers (candy wrappers) that my man plays basketball with the waste paper basket and he misses (I hate sex because my man plays basketball with the waste paper basket and he misses.)
  • Moping because it makes me feel dirty (I hate sex because it makes me feel dirty.)

Now please remember I was reading ALL of these in front of my mother, my future mother in law and my grandmother as well as friends and co-workers. I was dying laughing too. But I mean hey I had already opened all kinds of lingerie in front of them, what’s a few jokes too :).

I still don’t have pictures, I’ve been waiting patiently because one of the games would be much better with photos… but anyway I guess I’ll tell you about it.

Everyone was told to bring a pair of panties, my size but their style. They strung a feather boa up between 2 walls and then clothes pinned the panties to it. I then had to guess who brought what. I had 16 guests present. I got 2 guesses per pair. I got 8 of them right. Not bad eh? Toward the end it was getting difficult because I couldn’t remember who I had already guessed.

So I really want to show pictures for the final game… I’ll hold out a little longer on it. Hopefully I’ll get photos by then… we’ll see. Otherwise you may have to use your imagination.

Peace, Love & Panties

What Will I Say?!?!?!

So yesterday I told you about the surprise personals shower I had thrown for me last Friday night. Well one of the games was done while I was opening presents and I didn’t even realize it. It started out Evelyn would write down phrases that I would say but apparently I wasn’t saying much at first so she started writing down phrases from around the room. Then after I was done opening presents the list was read aloud as:

“Phrases Nicole will say on their wedding night.”

I just had to share them with you. What it was actually referring to is to the side in ():

  • Sleep with me (On the butt of a pair of pants)
  • It makes me feel good (I have no idea)
  • That’s for when… (I said this but again, don’t know why)
  • I only growl when I’m mad (They asked me to growl. this was my response)
  • Now I know why April was always giggling when we did this with her. (I couldn’t quit giggling)
  • Ooooo it does smell good, I’ve never smelt it before (lotion that I received)
  • It’s very cute (about one of the pieces I received. We all said this throughout the night)
  • Oh they’re getting smaller and smaller (about the panties but not sure who said it)
  • It looks more like a man’s package (This was my grandma’s comment)
  • I’m not going to put it back in (I didn’t want to fold it and put it back in the box)
  • Haha, I didn’t break it (Me about the ribbons)
  • I wasn’t sure about the size. (Memaw about what size she got for me)
  • I know this trick (Me again on the ribbons)
  • Oh nice (This was said a lot throughout the night too.)
  • Very nice, Thank you (Me about something I received)
  • Is there more? (My mom b/c she thought something else should be in the bag)
  • Ok what’s next? (don’t remember)
  • Oooooo, that’s cute (This was said a lot throughout the night too by everyone)
  • No, they’re attached (me about the panties being attached to something, don’t remember what but someone thought there should be matching panties)
  • Those Match (me about a bra/panties set I received)
  • Can’t figure it out (haha, me because it had a built in bra thing and it was all tangled up)
  • Okay there we go (I finally got it all untangled)
  • Thank you (I said this a lot that night.)

I still wish I had pictures to show, although not sure I’d show what “personals” (haha) I received, I’d just show how gorgeously decorated my house was.

In other news, Brittany over at Unexpected Surprises featured me.

You really should go over and check it out! You should also check out her blog while over there. Her son is absolutely adorable. Today she shared a conversation she had with him. He wants to be an Alligator.

So I guess I’ll leave you with this cute joke I got in my email the other day. I have another one, I just have to find it!

The Sharing of Marriage….
The old man placed an order for one hamburger, french fries and a drink. He unwrapped the plain hamburger and carefully cut it in half, placing one half in front of his wife. He then carefully counted out the french fries, dividing them into two piles and neatly placed one pile in front of his wife. He took a sip of the drink, his wife took a sip, and then set the cup down between them. As he began to eat his few bites of hamburger, the people around them were looking over and whispering.
Obviously they were thinking, “that poor old couple – all they can afford is one meal for the two of them.” As the man began to eat his fries a young man came to the table and politely offered to buy another meal for the old couple. The man said they were just fine – they were used to sharing everything. People closer to the table noticed the little old lady hadn’t eaten a bite. She sat there watching her husband eat and occasionally taking turns sipping the drink.
Again the young man came over and begged them to let him buy another meal for them. This time the old woman said, “No, thank you, we are used to sharing everything.”
Finally, as the old man finished and was wiping his face neatly with the napkin, the young man again came over to the little old lady who had yet to eat a single bite of food and asked, “What is it you are waiting for?”

She answered:

“The Teeth.”

Peace, Love & Your Own Teeth!!

Bras and Panties and Lace… Oh MY

(Yup I did say that title 🙂 read on!)

This last weekend and even up to today I realized how truly blessed I am and what a great Fiance, Family & Friends that I have. I was kind of trying to hold off on this post because I don’t have any of the pictures from Friday night but you might be dying to know the secret just as I was so I guess I’ll go ahead and tell you.

All I knew going up to this was that I needed a white dress, there was a camera involved, was told PC was to wear black dress pants, white shirt & tie, and I couldn’t get ready at my house, I had to get ready at my parents house and then we’d go to meet up with Evelyn at my house for what I was told was pictures. She had ideas. haha.

What little bits and pieces got slipped out, which wasn’t much, I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what was going on and it was about to drive me nuts, but I tried to keep my cool and not let them know I knew anything because really, I was confused!

So after work we headed to my parents house so I could get ready. PC left all his clothes at our house. We were supposed to be to our house at 7:10. I hurried up and got myself ready so that we could get to our house and he could change. It was hot in my room and especially the bathroom so I moved the floor fan over in front of the door while I was getting ready. Now I was quite the site too because I should fess up I was walking around in my wedding shoes trying to help break them in as well. So I got dressed and was moving the fan back to the bedroom when the base slipped off the fan and slid down my leg and did this number.

And this is Tuesday after Friday. It’s healed a lot! Boy did that sucker bleed! and sting!

So PC cleaned it off for me and put Neosporin on it and a band-aid. I changed shoes and we headed out the door. It was about 6:30 when we left. 12 miles, at most 20 minutes, we were doing good to get him to the house and get changed, but we were driving 40-45 miles an hour. Usually it’s more like 55. Back country roads. I asked him if he was feeling ok and he said yes why? Well because you’re driving slow. Okay. But you have a car behind you. Okay. He’s usually the one going, boy I wish this person would hurry up. ha!

So we missed the turn to go to our house… wait what? So of course I asked and he said we’ll get there. I figured we were going to his mom’s house but why were we driving so stinking slow! Once we got there he went inside and I painted my finger nails. They look good painted in pictures :). He took forever in his mom’s house. Finally he came out and we proceeded on to our house. So by now I figure something is up but I couldn’t quite place my finger on what was going on. And we took the long way to the house. The whole way I keep looking over and grinning at him and I was making him nervous. I finally settle in and start reading him a blog.

We turned down the road our house is on and I’m still reading. When he stopped to get the mail I looked up and there were tons of cars in my driveway. Seriously… did they just pull a fast one on me? YUP!

We go walking into the house and I was like, was I supposed to wear the white dress? I was freaking out that I was over dressed! Nope I wasn’t… but I was the only one wearing white. Everyone else was wearing black.

April and Evelyn (my wedding party) had thrown me an intimates bridal shower. Once PC had me in the door he got in his truck and left. I was in complete shock. I had a fabulous turnout too. There were 17 of my close dear friends present. I wish I had pictures to show/share but I don’t have them just yet.

April had driven up from Texas. They even hid her car in my garage so I wouldn’t recognize she was up. She drives a Bright Yellow Sunfire, it stands out! Evelyn had arranged to meet up with PC’s mom to get a house key to our house and had my house so girly and pretty. It was a Tiffany’s themed Bridal Shower. It was gorgeous! Tiffany’s blue, black, white and brown were the colors used. My house was gorgeous!

There was a chocolate fountain. To dip in the chocolate we had donuts, pretzels, bananas, strawberries, cookie dough, peanut butter balls, and lots more I can’t even remember. There were blue M&M’s and blue punch.

We played games. I think I’ll devote a specific post to the games but I’ll brush over them here. There was the Teddy in a box game. There was the house hold chore game. There was a list of things “I’ll say” on our first night as husband and wife. And there was the Panties game.

It was a fabulous shower thrown by 2 of my bestestestestestest friends! They are both great roll models. Evelyn has been married 11 1/2 years and April is at 4 1/2 years. Evelyn even had a co-worker come be the photographer so when I get pictures I’ll share :). I can’t wait to see them.

So there was my truly big, awesome surprise! (There’s more but I figure that’s another post :))

Peace, Love & Great Friends!

Here's the rest :)

So we’ve been creating a list of things to get done tonight for tomorrow: PC needs a hair cut, need to pick up a prescription, I need to shave my legs. Wait, what? Why on earth would I tell you this? Oh wait that’s right, because I’m wearing a white dress tomorrow. Why, beats me! Maybe the same reason I can’t make plans for this weekend, heck, I don’t know. It’s beyond my knowledge! I’m soon to find out though, right?

So anyway to keep my mind off of that I thought I would share the last of the wedding slide show pictures that I haven’t shared yet. I really think after the wedding (which is in 23 days, you’re getting tired of hearing that aren’t you? Sorry!) I’ll share the 4 minute slide show with just photos of PC & me. I love it!

We went and applied for our marriage license. We had to take our drivers License (as long as full, first, middle, last name was on it), Social Security Card and $51 cash. I know that this is regulated by state but is the amount the same in all states? Those of you getting married, what are you having to pay for your marriage license? Then to get a certified copy in the mail of it, it is another $9. I’m thinking they are making money off of us there! In Missouri you have to apply and get married with in 30 days of the date that the license is issued or it is null/void. Then the preacher has 15 days to send it back in. I was talking to a guy at work the other day, our company made it mandatory here a while back that everyone had to supply marriage license’s, Last years tax form and birth certificates for insurance purposes. He found his and it was the original that said if it wasn’t turned back in within 30 days it was null/void. He’s been “married” for 12 years. And I’m pretty sure Missouri isn’t a common law marriage state. He said he uses that to his advantage when he and his wife get into an argument, well we aren’t married. bahahahahaha.

ok on with the pictures 🙂

The thing we ran into finding pictures of PC is most all of them were him and his daughter in the latter years. This sounds mean I know she is a big part of his life but she’ll have her day in the sunshine of marriage some day. This was a slide show of him and me with lots of people. We’ve included her in some, don’t get me wrong, I’m not that mean! Boy I sound mean I think I’ll shut up now! Please know for the record I love this little girl!

This is the grandma I share a birthday with, she is my dad’s mother.

This is from the first day his daughter was at our house and we hit him with silly string 🙂

The last picture I got with all my grandparents. The two on either side of me were married and the two outside ones were married. The inside ones were my grandparents that died 9 months apart from each other. They got married 9/4/54. We are getting married 9/4/10

Here is a 4 generation photo of PC, his grandmother, his dad and his daughter. What’s awesome is there is another of them when Tbug was just born. How great is that!

PC with his Best Man – Noah. They love to play guitar!

Me with my bridesmaid, Evelyn. This was in photography class last fall.

PC, Jordan & Andy. They all grew up in the same church.

This was the night I was playing around with PC’s camera just after we first started dating.

This was last November. PC is riding Aloha.

Here is some of PC’s Army Greens when we were working on a photography project right here on my blog and we got behind and gave up 🙂

This was just after I got my sweatshirt in. I wanted to use it for my Shuttercal page. 🙂

My Palomino. Her name is Blondie.

This was in Kansas City last Christmas when we went up to see family. We were making a fast run to the Plaza when I saw this park and fell in love and whipped into the turning lane. It was so cold standing out there without my coat on but it wasn’t as pretty as my shirts 🙂

And there you have it. Throughout this blog you’ll see all the photos I’ve used for the first slide show. It will play at the beginning of the wedding while the guests are arriving. It’ll loop around on itself and play for an hour. I’m getting so excited! and yet so nervous! This particular slide show I did twice :). You can read about that story here if you want and haven’t already :).

Ok I’ve rambled enough. Hope you have a fabulous Thursday! Don’t forget to ask Prince Charming questions. Ask him why the grass is green, why the sky is blue, why a black cow can eat green grass and gives off white milk… whatever, just ask :). He’ll give you some type of answer. 🙂

Peace, Love, & Questions

Here's Some More

Oh another day, another dollar, another peek into our past 🙂 I’ve shared with you other posts of pictures of me and my fiance (or if I was being grammatically correct, my fiance and me). These are pictures that I’ve included in our side show for our wedding. I have two slide shows made up. One will play for the hour before our wedding. It is about 12 minutes long. Gives the guests something to look at, point at, laugh at, etc before the wedding and then I have one side show right before my grand entry that is 4 minutes. It is nothing but pictures of PC & me. It is set to a fabulous song! I might look into putting it up on the blog, but it’ll be after the wedding 🙂 That way if any in attendance read my blog they won’t get the surprise ruined 🙂

He looks so handsome in this picture!!

One of my High School Senior Pictures

This is him with his grandma, mother and newborn daughter

Ooop and the girl sitting next to me on the bed is Janet.

No this isn’t the order of the photos in the slide show because you’ll notice there are some of me twice and then him twice. I just grabbed them out of the folder in the order they were in. I love looking back at photos though!

If you’d like to see other photos from the slide show try going here, or possibly here, or maybe here, and even here

Peace, Love & Photos

Phelps House Part 2

Ok so I didn’t let you down yesterday, I am back today with part 2 of the Phelps House. Yesterday I went over the first floor and loaded you up with pictures and history. Well I’m back today to do more of the same. I sure hope you don’t mind because I am a history nerd. It fascinates me, well if it is interesting, if it is about weird things that they question you about during history tests in college, yeah not so interested I guess.

So now we are on the second floor. The Phelps society have added air conditioner to the first floor with central AC. On the second floor, they use these rooms for bridal party changing. All of these rooms have Window AC units that they turn on while there is a bridal party using it. They have 2 rooms that are allotted for the ladies and one for the guys. Again they tried to keep it tried and true. This picture of a doorknob is actually an original Crystal Doorknob in the house. All the doorknobs upstairs are these Crystal Doorknobs.

Now apparently even guys back in the late 1800’s early 1900’s were fascinated with technology. Let’s say you went upstairs to the second floor where all the family slept and you realized you left lights on downstairs. Instead of going downstairs to turn them all off, you’d pull this button in this box which would override all the light circuits downstairs and shut them all off. Pretty cool huh?

This was one of the showers upstairs. There wasn’t a shower curtain or even a rod for one so I’m not sure if they had shower curtains or not.

This is one of the rooms that the bridal party can use to change in. Look they had their own fireplace. Super jealous!

And that room (previous picture) was connected to this room through the bathroom. Every 2 rooms shared a bathroom. This is also one of the rooms that the bridal parties can use as well, but Judy also said that a lot of brides love having pictures taken in this room. In the afternoon the light comes through those windows and being a white room it has a lot of natural light that goes with it. It was just beautiful.

And there it is connected to the other room with a “Water closet”. Plus you could enter all the water closets through a door that was out in the main part of the second floor.
Can you see all the natural light in this room. It was outstanding.

This is the room that Judy said most of the guys use to change clothes in.
Here is another view of this room. I so needed a wide angle lens but I was using the Nikon Point and shoot so wide angle lens was not an option.

This was the kids room if you can’t tell from this picture.

These stairs lead upstairs to the third floor which contains the ballroom and the servants rooms. There was that rope there so I was afraid we couldn’t go upstairs to look but Judy let us. I’m so glad she did!

This is the ceiling of the ballroom. Judy told us that it is as close to the original paint job as they’ve come so far and that it has just recently been painted. Neither PC or I were paying attention when she said who painted it because we really just wanted to go upstairs and look 🙂

Here is a shot of the ballroom.

And another shot. Shhhh don’t tell my mom she got in this picture or she’ll shoot me. haha!

This was the servants quarters. To either side of this small area were the rooms. And as you can see there are their stairs that take them down to the backside of the kitchen.

Even as servants stairs these stairs are just fascinating!

Here is one of the servants quarters. You can tell they aren’t nearly as elaborate as the families quarters.

And here is the other room. Missouri was right on the edge of the line between slaves and non-slaves. Some home owners had them, some did not. Apparently MO was a toss-up state. However being the late 1800’s slavery had been abolished but Judy never said if the servants were white servants or black servants. (Not that it matters, I just think it would be cool to know, I like my history.)

Granted this is back down on the main floor but in yesterday’s post where I said you walk through the door, to the left is the Ladies Parlor and the right is the Gentleman’s, well this is looking at the doors. It was actually a set of double doors you went through.

This is outside the house. It has a front wrap around porch that you can see in other pictures of the outside. It isn’t a complete wrap around but either way, it’s GORGEOUS!

This just looked like a gorgeous place for a photo opportunity 🙂

And here we are together 🙂

This is from one corner of the driveway. I got a better photo of the outside though 🙂 Never fear. I want to report it accurately to you 😉

Here is the sign outside. Yeah I blotted out the phone number but if you are ever in my direction and want that number, email me, I’ll hook you up 🙂

Here is the outside shot. This was also in Wednesday’s Post too. As you can see there’s the porch and where it wraps around.

Ain’t we little stinkers 😉

Just like trying to get the church we ran into issues getting the Phelps House for the reception, but it all worked out in the end. The day we called the photographer we wanted she got booked for our wedding day. The day we called to reserve this it almost got reserved out from under us, but yey, it didn’t. We did have to find a different photographer though. Oh well I actually got a friend who has a photography business on the side. And had another friend trying to get into the business do our engagement photos. He’s the other friends back up for the wedding.

Now I have to give you some cute little fact… hmm…. hmmm…. oh I’ve got it. Follow this if you can: We are getting married in the same church as my mom & dad, using the same reception hall as my aunt & uncle on my grandparents wedding anniversary :). To add to that… follow this if you can :). When my aunt and uncle got married I was their flower girl. I was 7. They got married 20 years ago this year. I’m now 27 which I believe was the age my uncle was when they got married. Now I have a 7 year old flower girl in our wedding. So when Tbug is 27 she should get married and have some girl be 7 as her flower girl… or something like that. Yeah to much thinking for a Saturday, I’m going to go lie down before I hurt myself. Oh no, wait I’m going to an estate sale. 🙂

Peace, Love, & Sevens
