A bit of a Rant and pictures :)

Ok, I’m sorry I’m going to get a bit political here for just a second, bare with me…

Seriously… every candidate is crooked it some way, just ask their opposing candidate.  Why the heck do they focus on the bad of the other candidate?  Why don’t they just solely stick to the Good for themselves and be done with it.  Why must they think they should badger the other?  Seriously.  I heard both presidential candidates have dropped in popularity because they have been attacking each other.  Seriously, I could see it, so why don’t they just stop that approach.  It doesn’t really make the public all that happy anyway…

And truthfully, I get tired of all the political stuff, I think mostly because they badger each other.

Ok now that I’m done ranting about that…. sorry, hope you stayed with me… Let’s move on :).

Friday night my darling {step}daughter got to come over earlier than normal.  Yey.  Her mom brought her to me at work when I got off, so we had all evening to bum around and do nothing, but that was good because we had a busy weekend scheduled.

Anyway, we played around and had a fun, small photo shoot.  Here are a few photos for your enjoyment 🙂  This will show you just how dry it is around here.  This is one of the larger flowing streams around here.  It’s really sad.  We’re right around the dam where the water just “flies” over.

This is how sad it is on Spring River.

What kid doesn’t like to play in the water?!?!

My sweethearts

And a goofy one just for good measures.

It’s the Little Things in Life

Have you noticed how it’s the little things in life that are forgotten?  Why just yesterday my husband reminded me that I used to call him Goob Goob.  I seriously had forgotten that, and it really makes me sad!  btw, I think he kind of got the name based off the movie Night at the Museum when the statue said, “Dumb Dumb you bring me Gum Gum.”  Obviously my husband isn’t a dumb dumb, but I started out calling him Goober then Goob then Goob Goob.

So in that thought there, think about the average, normal, everyday things that you do, that probably go unnoticed or missed.  When I get in my car, I put on my Sunnies (unless it’s dark or not bright).  When I get out of my car, I take them off.  So in habit, when I get in my car in my glasses (few and far between) when I go to get out I take off my glasses realizing that didn’t work out so well. Another Walk Down Memory Lane

I decided to share more photos from my Facebook page.  I dunno, sometimes it is fun to go back and look at these.  I can see a difference in myself from the first one (seen here) to the second bunch (seen here) to these.  And these only go up to about April of 2010.  That was 2 years ago.  Dang!  What’s even harder to believe is next month will have been 3 years since I went on my first date with my hubby.

Over the weekend we were talking about how long he and his friend Robert have known each other.  16 years.  Dang that seems like a lifetime… ok maybe not but still, that is the age I was when I graduated high school :).  But really, they’ve known each other longer than they haven’t, if that makes sense.  They both turn 30 this year.

So then we got to talking about how long we’ve known each other {hubby and me} and we’re at 15 years.  I’ve still known him longer than I haven’t.  We met when I was 13 years old, technically we probably met before that, but I really can start to remember the obnoxious Tuba player starting my 8th grade year of school.  And our friendship started blossoming in 9th grade when he’d sing in class with me.  Now I wasn’t a student who acted out, but this one teacher would get under my skin and I’d sing, Garth Brooks “Two Pina Coladas”.  Yes, I know very uncool of me.

Anyway moving on….  Another walk down Memory Lane

Our First Christmas together.

Trying to learn my first dSLR which was a Canon Rebel XS.

Facebook had something going around once on show yourself as a kid.  This is my mom’s favorite photo of me as a child.

Just some random shot I took.  We were actually moving sheep around.

An early Sunday morning after Church.  It was actually very gray, my first attempt at photoshop.

Will You Marry Me

Our weekend trip to Branson the day after he proposed.

Wedding dress shopping.  Boy I was scared of this!  They almost had to take me kicking and screaming!  In fact the joke was they thought they were going to have to get me drunk.  No they didn’t, but I didn’t want to go.

Our engagement photos

I think it was this time that I looked up at him and said, “This feels so real.”  and it brought a little tear to his eye.

Hay Day! Hay Day!

Saturday was a busy day!  Oy!

All we did was run run run.  But… toward the end of the day, at least the “running” was on the tractor!

My uncle was baling hay down at my grandparents so we jumped on dad’s tractor and went and moved the bales into rows so that when UJ goes to load them up and take them to the house, all the running has been done.  Easy as pie :). haha.

We put the bales in 6 bale rows since that’s what the hay trailer carries :).

On a bit of a side note, I overheard my grandma say one time she didn’t have a camera.  At my parent’s house I still had my old Nikon camera {Nikon Coolpix 2500}.  I decided to grab it and check it out and if it still worked, I decided to give it to my grandma.  I charged up the battery and took it down to the hayfield with me to try it out.

What do you think?  These are all straight out of the camera… no editing.

If I got paid for the hours I sat riding around on the fender of dad’s tractor, I’d be a millionaire!

No the tractor wasn’t moving, we were waiting on my uncle to finish baling 🙂

Think my grandma will be happy with this camera?  It’s very easy to use so I hope she likes it!!!  Happy Hay Season!!

Sizing Down Your Photo(s) Without Photoshop

I have read a lot of blogs over the last few years where people hit a maximum limit of photos for their blog.

I’m not sure but I sometimes wonder if that doesn’t have to do with size.
ie:

  • 1,000 Kilobytes (KB) = 1 Megabyte (MB)
  • 1,000 Megabytes (MB) = 1 Gigabyte (GB)
  • 1,000 Gigabytes (GB) = 1 Terabyte (TB)

My big fancy camera takes “huge” photos (1+ MB and usually more like 3-4+MB)!  And then sometimes when I edit them in photoshop they seem to save even larger (not always though!).

So I thought I would teach you a trick on how to size your photos down (from MB to KB) for your blog.  You don’t have to have the high resolution photos for a blog… you aren’t printing them.  But even at that I’ve lost a few photos and printed off my lower resolution photos from my blog; as long as you don’t print large photos (8×10 or greater) you don’t really see the pixels to print.

Now you don’t need Photoshop or any other photo editing software for this.  You just need a Window’s Operating System XP or newer.  It comes standard with this program.  Know what that means?  FREE!

It is a very simple program, I don’t do much editing with it, every now and again I do make collages, etc, but for the most part I just use it to size down my photos.  In fact maybe this is a bit redundant but I edit my photos in PSE, save the “large” file.  Then take the large file and size it down for my blog, my digital photo frame, my computer desktop photos on my work computer, etc.

I learned this back in 2006 when my parents had dial up internet and I got frustrated trying to load photos on my facebook page.  Yes, I know, weird, but whatever!

The program you want to use is……. Paint.

Like I said, it comes standard on all Window’s operating systems.

Weekend via Instagram & Camera+

Sometimes I love Love LOVE my iPhone.  I get some easy shots that I might not have gotten otherwise, for whatever reason.

Ok so the quality might not be even as good as some point and shoots, but heck, I still like it!

So today’s post is brought to you by my new favorite app Camera+ and by my old love Instagram.

A relaxing Friday night once we finally made it home.  We were watching Sweet Home Alabama on CMT (the Reality show)

Helping Tbug and myself not get pinched on Saturday, you know St. Patty’s Day

Saturday we headed to the yearly buffalo sale. (2010, 2011)

Uh oh… I’ve created a monster! haha

Our Yearly Buffalo Sale photo 🙂

Driving home after we left the sale, we stopped in Nevada and ate lunch at Iguana Azul.  OMG it was good Mexican food!  My great grandfather used to have a hardware store up on the square also, just a random side note.

I’m starting to learn to live with the fact, windows down & my hair just don’t play nice.

Later in the afternoon we headed over to Lucky J to watch the cutting going on.

She looks happy eh?

Later my mother in law called us and said she’d like to take us to dinner.  She chose Habatchi.

Then we went with her to Atwoods and helped her load up something she was buying… and I fell in love with these boots.  They are so out of the norm for me and my taste but aren’t they sexy?!?!  Ok so I’m a shoe person but I absolutely LOVE boots!  Just saying!
