Book Review: Stealing Sawyer – Samantha Christy

This was an interesting book to me. After reading Catching Caden and Benching Brady, I really wondered what the story was about Sawyer. Now… the name Sawyer always had me believing it was a black guy. No racism there, just that’s how I saw him in my head. Looking at the cover of this book, I’m wrong. I really could have used a description reminder of him more than once while reading this book… haha. (more…)

I’m truly ready to see these books made into movies. Janet Evanovich in her first Stephanie Plum book made a car blow up because she said that was “Hollywood.” Well… I saw “Hollywood” in Purple Orchids. I got to thinking earlier today that I wonder if the title of the book will make it or break it for Hollywood? Now granted they can change the name of the book when it gets made into a film, but still… I wonder…

This is definitely one of them I want to see made into a movie. But I say that and then I think back to some of the other books and well… I want them made into movies too.

Me: Hello Hollywood, I would like to request these books be made into movies. Thanks!

If only it were that easy. (more…)

Book Review: Catching Caden – Samantha Christy

Y’all, I know this is a fictional book, but I am now a fan of baseball. haha! I always have liked baseball. I can’t watch it on tv very easily… I prefer to be in the stands. The vibe you get from the stadium helps! But wow…

So Caden is the sister of the main female character of Stone Vows. See, they are all tying in together. The characters are still all appearing. We are starting to get a ways out from the Mitchell Sisters… but still they are appearing a little. Especially because the Mitchell Sisters husbands all own the gym that Caden uses and Murphy eventually starts working at. Hopefully, I didn’t give away too much.

Catching Caden – Samantha Christy

If all they see are her scars – they aren’t looking hard enough.

It was my home run ball that shattered her face.
Right along with her modeling career. (more…)

Book Review: Stone Vows – Samantha Christy

Hmmm… So this book helped make a comeback from Stone Promises. I still couldn’t give it 5 stars. Toward the middle to end it got one of those weird way too many thoughts, trying to make word count vibes. I still really liked the book, don’t get me wrong. I liked the characters. Chad/Thad and Malory made a visit from the previous book as well as characters from the other Stone brothers book and the Mitchell Sisters Book. I still think Chad/Thad (he’s one and the same) is a very hard character for me to remember. I keep having to really think about who he is and how he falls into this…

I really want to play “Never Have I Ever” after reading this book. Unfortunately, I don’t really have people to play it with. Oh well. And everyone else would probably be drunk, but not me ha! Or full if we just played it with food. It’s all good.

Stone Vows – Samantha Christy (A Stone Brother’s Trilogy Book)

SHE’S FORBIDDEN.

I’m her doctor.
She’s my patient.
My only patient.

She’s alone and in trouble.
From the moment I see her, I know she’s special.

As a resident, I’ve spent years living and breathing hospital life.
Then she comes into my ER, and my need to help her is all-consuming. (more…)

Book Review: Stone Promises – Samantha Christy

Okay… so far, my least favorite book/character that Samantha Christy wrote. Honestly, I keep forgetting about this brother. Is that sad? Especially since I just finished this book. I mean I started the next book, but I was trying to tell hubby about all these books. I CAN’T seem to remember this brother. Ugh!

And sadly, his wife is one I keep struggling with too…

Stone Promises – Samantha Christy (A Stone Brothers Trilogy)

We were childhood friends.
Me and the boy who would grow up to become Hollywood’s hottest star.

When I was six – I fell for him at the bus stop.

When I was fifteen – he moved away, taking my heart with him.

When I was twenty-four – he came back for me even though I didn’t want him.

The nine years we spent apart, I tried like hell to fill the void. (more…)

Book Review: Stone Rules – Samantha Christy

I really liked Samantha Christy’s style of writing. When I was finished with the Mitchell Sisters Trilogy, I went on the hunt to see what else she had written. Turns out she had a trilogy on the Stone Brothers. And Charlie, who made an appearance in Black Roses happened to be the first female character in Stone Rules. Score… We got to stick with the Mitchell Sisters. Totally game for that.

Now back to Christy’s style of writing. I won’t lie, some of the sex scenes that she writes are enough to make me blush. I guess that’s what you get when you read romance novels. They weren’t as bad as 50 Shades of Gray… and for the record, no, I did not read that book all the way through. I made it 25% of the way because I wanted to see what all the hype was about. It made me freak out to the point I slammed my kindle shut at the time and sat on it. I was sitting on an airplane headed to Las Vegas. Hubby was sitting next to me and wondered what my problem was.

I couldn’t do that book, 25% and I was out and I’ve never tried again. Yup, you can hashtag truth that. Sad but true maybe, but true none the less. (more…)

Book Review: Talking as Fast as I Can – Lauren Graham

After reading about the Mitchell Sisters, I decided to sidestep and read about Lauren Graham. Some interesting things about this book…

  • I started it years ago.
  • It was actually bought for my hubby to read. He’s a Lauren Graham fan.
  • His favorite tv series was Gilmore Girls.
  • Hubby bought it on audiobook.
  • He and I were going through it at the same time. Although he may have finished it just before I did…
  • I actually read this from a hardback book, not off Kindle.
  • She reads her own audiobook.

Sometimes I start books and read more than one at a time because I get tired of a particular genre. It’s just something I do. If you go read my GoodReads it shows I’m reading more than one book. Honestly, right now I’m reading just 1 book, but still. (more…)

Corpus Christi, Texas: North Beach and Fajitaville

What do you do when you are in San Antonio but want to go to the beach? You drive to the closest one. After doing a little bit of research, the Corpus Christi area seemed like the best option. It was all interstate and it was about an hour and a half to two-hour drive.

When we started planning our trip to San Antonio we asked the girls what they wanted to do while we were on vacation. The only thing the little one said was the beach. Well if you haven’t noticed, San Antonio is still kind of in the upper part of Texas. Now, I use the “upper part” loosely because Texas is huge and in comparison, it really isn’t, but what I mean is, San Antonio is more inland bound.

We planned on Friday of our trip to be our beach day. That still gave us a day to mill around San Antonio. Plus we weren’t driving 4 hours (2 hours one way) and then home 11 hours the next. We had that cushion day in there to recoup from the beach.

Hubby, being the researcher he is, really didn’t research where we were going to go once we got to Corpus Christi. We just decided to wing it. As we pulled into the area, we found North Beach. We did a slight bit of research on the road and decided that might not be a bad place to check out, so that’s where we landed. We stopped along the way to get some sand buckets and shovels and plastic cups… who doesn’t use plastic cups to play in the sand? It was all I could find honestly. And we were ready for a day at the beach. (more…)

4th of July Photo Journal – Family

I can’t believe we’re already on the downhill slope toward Christmas. Oy! If you watch Hallmark Channel, we’re on Christmas in July… round the clock Christmas movies. Gosh, I love Christmas movies, but that’s another post for another day. Right now, let’s discuss the 4th of July, again… one last time.

This will be in the form of hubby’s family. I only say that to distinguish between our two families although technically when we got married, they all became OUR family. Anyway… Just clarifying right there :).

Now one thing that I should point out just to remember is that Hubby and I were the last ones to the party for the most part. A couple of stragglers came in but, usually, we’re some of the first ones there. When we hosted it, we were first, now that we are just patrons (haha, jokes on them… just kidding) we’re still usually some of the first ones to show up. Then I had to leave to go back to my house to get a trailer to set up the fireworks on.

When I got to the house, the joke was on me… hubby left his truck empty. I used his truck because at that time they were using the bed of mine to sort fireworks. I hopped in his truck and there were 27 miles to empty. Now, I could have made it to my sister-in-law’s and he could have made it from there to the gas station, but at that late at night, who wants to bother? So I stopped and got fuel for him. I might be nice sometimes, but don’t spread the word! (more…)

4th of July Photo Journal – Dive Club

I saw a meme on Facebook the other day saying something to the effect, 4th of July is over, it’s now time to get your Halloween costumes, your Thanksgiving menu, Christmas Presents, and we’re basically at the New Year, Happy 2020. Truthfully I might have giggled a little too much because… the way this year has been flying by, that almost seems real! Here we are 5 days past the 4th of July. Hello, July 9. We’re quickly approaching the dawg days of summer. It is finally getting hot and humid in Missouri. Yes, we have humidity. Yes, it’s horrible. You walk out of your house and feel like you’ve just walked out of the shower. It’s nuts.

Spring has been crazy around here. Tornadoes on top of tornadoes. Rain and flooding. Cooler temperatures… you name it, we’ve probably seen it. Except for a Hurricane. If we see a hurricane in Missouri, we have real problems. Did you know I’m only just a few hours away from the dead middle point of the U.S.? It’s up on the Kansas border near Nebraska. I’ve never been there although that’s on my list of things to do someday. Why not…

I actually live in a part of Missouri where within 30 minutes you can be further into Missouri, into Oklahoma or Kansas or Arkansas. And there is a point over near here where you can be standing on the border of Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma. 3 states in one swoop. Honestly, I’ve never been there either although I’ve always been within a mile or so of it. Why I never stop I have no idea.

This year because the 4th of July fell when it did, we got to celebrate twice. Once with our diver friends and again with my husband’s extended family. I overheard that some people think the 4th of July is only about bbq’s, fireworks, and spending time with family. That’s totally inaccurate. It’s about the birthday of our country. On July 4th, 1776 our forefathers signed the Declaration of Independence freeing us from British control. It was only after a horrific battle called the Revolutionary War was fought and won. Just thought I’d throw that very broad, basic explanation out there for anyone who might be confused. Do they not teach that in schools anymore? Although the person who made the previous claim is closer to my age than not. I’m really confused.
