It’s Official, I’ve clearly lost my mind!

Ok… let me re-start this… For over a year I’ve watched people talking about doing the C25K program.  I’ve listened to people who have trained, run, etc.  And I’m not going to lie, I kind of wanted to do it.

I talked to hubby and I wasn’t real sure he was game.  So I’d talk to him more about it, again, not sure he was game.  He didn’t mind walking at night, but that wasn’t getting me any closer to being able to say I too had run a 5K.  I don’t have any idea why I wanted to say I had run one, but that’s sure enough what I wanted to do.

Then one day out of the blue last week he said, let’s do the C25K program.

Really?  What?  Are you out of your mind?  Ok :).

We decided to start last Tuesday night.  We got a training app and went to town.

First day down!  Woohooooooo.

Then the unthinkable happen, dun dun dun, the flu hit my household.  yuck!  So yesterday morning, after recovering all weekend from the flu we started back on day 1.  Hey, the first day one was just practice :).

Sorry about the quality of the photo… it was 6:45amish and the sun hadn’t even woken up yet.

Since my tennis shoes (tenny runners) were kind of getting old and hubby wears his most days to work so we didn’t want to wear his work shoes out, we went shoe shopping.

New shoes are always an added bonus, right?

Sad to say I have war wounds, but hey, no pain, no gain right?

So please tell me it gets easier!  Oh, and that these stupid battle wounds go away 🙂

And just for good measure

Oh and get this… my Photoframe Chalkboard was featured here… Check it out!!

  1. GOOD JOB!! Starting is the most important first step! I PROMISE it does get easier! In week 5 you'll think it's funny to look back on where you started! I've never experienced blisters. Could your shoes be too loose?

    xo

  2. You go girl!! I've never had blisters like that though, if you keep getting them – I'd try another pair of tennys. Blisters are no fun!

  3. Awesome!!!! I've had that app for over a year and haven't even fired it up! I suck.

Well – keep it up – let me know your progress. I HATE running – I hate any physical activiity – but it keeps me semi-healthy so I do it. If this program works for you – I'd be willing to try it.

  4. Way to go, Nicole! Like you, I've recently been thinking about starting the Couch to 5K program… I really hate running though, so I'm not sure I'd be successful. But after seeing so many of my friends do the Army Run this weekend, I'm being inspired! Maybe I'll join you! 😉

  5. Good for you guys!! You can buy an anti-friction “runners stick” in CVS or whatever – they're usually pretty cheap. They're great for breaking in new shoes in general too. 🙂

  6. Alright! Good for you and your hubby! How great that your hubby is wanting to do it with you – mine is totally not interested lol

I just ran my first 5K a few weeks ago. It was hard but wonderful!

    Ouchy for the blisters tho.
    Good luck 🙂

  7. Okay one tip not from me, but my WW Leader who does 5K and 24hour cancer walks and so on, mole skin for the blisters. She says they are awesome and available at the dollar tree.

Now…You two rock! I just might try and get Rich on board with this when he is released from all this foot business!

  8. Good for you! I cant tell you it gets easier as I have never done it , but I suspect like all things it does .My rule of thumb has been I run only to a sick animal or from a bear , so no help at all

  9. YAY for you! I've done the program twice. I will be embracing it again after this baby boy is born. I'm excited! I love having goals. And I promise, when you think you can't do it anymore, keep going. Your body will surprise you!

    Good luck!!
