I've been gone :(

I’m not sure if many of you have noticed or not, but I’ve been gone a few days.  I wish I could say I was off on a caribbean cruise or in the desert (hey it should be warm there, right) or at a Hawaiian getaway, but sadly, I’m not…  Friday afternoon my mom sent me a text about 2pm and later I talked to her at 4… they had to rush my grandpa to the emergency room.  He passed away Saturday morning at 4am.  We had a funeral for him yesterday, but that doesn’t make me feel any better.  No one has any idea how much time I spent with both sets of my grandparents throughout the years.

In fact, this may be sad but true, I think I spent more time with my family as a whole than I ever did with any of my friends, and no that isn’t sad b/c I got to spend time with my family, but I didn’t have many friends either…  Oh well it’ll suck someday because I’m an only child and all my family is older than I am but for now I wouldn’t have changed a minute of my life for anything in the world.

I think the part that freaks me out a lot… the grandpa that died, is the one I referred to in the post Thursday.  Anyway I just thought I would let you all know that I hadn’t completely fallen off the face of the earth, some of you who I am friends with on facebook could have seen the posts :(… but the rest of you, I promise I’ll be back.

All I can say right now is… This Sucks!  I hope you all have had a better week/weekend than I have!  I’ve been walking around in a haze all weekend/week so far.  I’m down to one grandparent… and I’ve lost 3 of my bestestestestestest friends.  I just know he isn’t in pain right now and isn’t suffering, however I so want to be selfish and keep him just a bit longer!

So I now ask a favor of you guys out there in bloggy land… tonight if your kids are getting on your nerves, hug them just a bit tighter!  If you can, give our parents, your grandparents, your elderly neighbor a hug.  If you aren’t close to them (proximity or otherwise) call them and just let them know that you love them!

Ok I’ll quit being a Debbie Downer (no idea where that phrase came from, it just sounded good) and I’ll be back tomorrow with a great, wonderful, happy, I think post 🙂

Peace, Love, & Grandparents!

Nicole

{Typed up on September 23, 2013) You know those awkward moments in life.  Come on, I know you do, we all have them at some point or another. So a priceless moment is hubby going to buy a pregnancy test. I hadn’t been feeling well and not to say we were trying, but at the…

  1. Heavens sake! You don't need to happy post when such a tragedy hits. I'm an only child too and it's a little lonely when all the ones you love get older and leave us. I know your grandpa is watching over you. You are a tough cookie (as my husband says.) Give yourself some time and miss him for a while.

  2. Sorry for your loss.

My favorite grandmother – the one I spent nearly half my childhood with – passed away when I was in basic training for the Air Force.
The grandmother I was never close to, and who was never close to us, died a few years ago.
I never had grandfathers that I knew.

But I called my mother this morning, and call her at random times; and we email every day.

You have my sincere condolences. *Hugs* ♥

  3. I completely understand. My daughter is an only child and my parents are much more than typical grandparents to her. I can't imagine how you are feeling right now. Blessings and thoughts of healing comfort for you all right now. So very sorry.

  4. Thoughts & prayers are with you and your family. I completely know how you feel. Of my four grandparents, three passed away before I was born or old enough to remember them. My only living grandparent is my Grandma, she's 95, and while I know she can't live forever, I can't imagine life without her.

Thinking of you at this difficult time xo

  5. I am so sorry to hear about your Grandpa. It sucks so bad and the hole they leave in your heart never closes. Having lost the 3 family members I loved most in the world—my Grandma in 2008, my Grandpa, 11 months later and now my dad—I know what you are going through. Just when I was starting to move on a bit from one loss another one occured.

If you ever want to talk I am here for you. No words can take away the pain but know you are in my thoughts.

  6. Oh Nicole, I'm so sorry. I did notice you were gone, but I hoped for some happy reason. My thoughts & prayers are definitely with you & your family.

  7. So sorry for your loss. I too just really hang with my family. My sisters are my best friends as are my cousins. Thinking of you today and the days ahead

  8. I'd give you a big hug if I could. You're so lucky to have known your grandparents that well. What a blessing you must have been in their lives.

  9. So sorry to hear of your loss Nicole. As CCC stated, you're lucky to have such fond memories of the time you spent with them. I only have one grandparent left too. Treasure it.

  10. So sorry to hear about the loss of your grandpa. I'm glad you got to spend so much time with him and that you treasure him and your memories. We will remember you and your family in our prayers during this difficult time

  11. I am really sorry to hear this sad news. You are lucky to come from such a close family. Remember the happy moments and treasure them forever.

    Best wishes always,
    Natasha.
