Pei Wei Asian Diner – Ft. Worth TX

Spread the love

On Saturday of last weekend my aunt and uncle asked if we wanted to meet up for lunch.  When we said sure they gave us two choices and we ended up at Pei Wei Asian Diner.

I have actually eaten here one time prior with my aunt, my mom didn’t remember that though, but I got the same thing both times.  Now Pei Wei is owned by the same people who own PF Changs, it’s just the “fast food” version I guess you could say.

When you walk in, you’re greeted with their menu on screens 🙂  How very modern of them :).

I loved all their wok’s sitting there.  Big, small, large, shallow, extreme options!

And of course your chef’s cooking it up.  You walk past them after you place your order (and pay).

We chose to get some appetizers…

Crab Wontons
Crab, cream cheese, scallions, bell peppers

Very good.  I didn’t try with the dipping sauce they came with.

Vegetable Spring Rolls
Cabbage, ginger, carrots, celery, scallions, onions, black mushrooms, glass noodles, rolled in a crispy wrapper

I didn’t actually try this dipping sauce either.  I can’t explain it.  These were all vegetarian options here.

Pork Egg Rolls
Pork, Napa cabbage, black mushrooms, carrots, scallions, rolled in a crispy egg roll wrapper

I have to say I think the Pork Egg Rolls were my favorites.  I like the meat in them, what can I say?!?!

Then it was time for the Food!  I ordered Fried Rice with Chicken added to it.

Fried Rice
Soy sauce, scallions, egg, red bell peppers, broccoli, carrots

Very good!  I would say if you don’t like green onions you should get it without because the green onion was very present, but I thought it added some extra taste/flavor.

Hubby and dad went with the Orange Peel.  Now it said it was “spicy/hot” but one of them said they didn’t taste any heat until right at the end and the other said they tasted it but it wasn’t over powering at all.

Orange Peel
Chile bean garlic sauce, orange peels, scallions, snap peas, carrots

In the bite I got, I didn’t get any heat.  The orange peel chicken was very good!   Truthfully I think I should have gotten that.  I even ate a snap pea. or snow pea or whatever those green things are :).

Mom was the good one of the group and went with a Chicken salad.

Asian Chopped Chicken Salad
Sliced chicken, assorted lettuce, Napa cabbage, carrots, Thai basil, tomatoes, crispy wontons, toasted sesame seeds, sesame ginger vinaigrette

She said it was very good.  Holy cow it was a large salad.

Now it cracked me up because my aunt and uncle even allowed me to photograph their food.  I wasn’t going to bug them but they waited so I took advantage.  AC ordered the Caramel Chicken.  Said it’s one of her faves.

Caramel
Tangy caramel chile sauce, pineapple, ginger, garlic, lemongrass, mint, rice sticks and an Asian slaw of cucumbers, red bell peppers, carrots, cilantro, red onions, Fresno chile peppers, Vietnamese vinaigrette

Now UB doesn’t really like Chicken or Turkey, in fact I’ve really only seen him eat Turkey on Thanksgiving… No joke.  So he went for the Ginger Broccoli beef.

Ginger Broccoli
Sweet soy sauce, scallions, ginger, garlic, broccoli

Now with any good Chinese (or Asian??) restaurant, they served Fortune Cookies.  We went a little happy with the fortune cookies…. shhhhh don’t tell ;).  Now the favorite thing to do is add “In Bed” to the end of the fortunes.  It makes for some interesting conversations if nothing else.  I think the table next to us were listening to us and laughing at us :).

And when we walked out of the restaurant I saw this bumper sticker on a truck.  I thought it was funny.

Want some great Chinese, fast, check this place out!
