Pensacola Beach Eats: Crabs on the Beach

Saturday for lunch we met with Lee, Kiran and their clan, then after that hubby and I had appointments to get massages. When we left for the massage it started to sprinkle, while we were getting our massage it was pouring. Pouring rain so hard that we could hear it inside the building. I said the thunder and rain added to the ambiance.

When we got back to the hotel we all just hung out for a little bit before the question was posed, What’s for Dinner?

One of the recommendations we’d had was Crabs on the Beach. We decided that sounded like a good deal. So hubby went out, got the suburban, came up to the door, and chauffeured us all around.

Our wait wasn’t long, even with our party of 9, the sad thing was though, they split us up between two tables. When our group went to sit, everyone but hubby, Abug, and me piled into one booth. Finally my dad swapped tables and ate dinner with us.

As we were looking at the menu we noticed Naked Fish.

You can actually go deep sea fishing, bring in your catch, and they’ll cook it for you. Interesting!

Both tables ordered Fried Pickles. These were some good Fried Pickles. Even Abug approved.

The other table ordered Shrimp Crab and Spinach dip. They even shared with us. Yes I ate some. Verdict, it was quite tasty. Really it tasted like Spinach and Artichoke dip.

Then they also ordered Flash Fried Calamari. It was served with Marinara sauce. I tried it. I tasted more sauce than the actual Calamari which I was told meant they cooked it right? I don’t know.

While we were sitting there, the windows were all open, of course I noticed most of the restaurants down there were mainly outside anyway. In fact, I noticed that there were like garage doors to the west and north but nothing to the south. Quite interesting!

A few times the wind came and we thought another storm was going to blow up, but nothing ever did.

When we were being seated, my aunt asked the waitress what the best thing on the menu was. She said the Shrimp and Crab Mac & Cheese. I decided that as long as shrimp is cooked right, I like it and I’m usually okay with crab (you know, I’m not a seafood person) so I’d try it. There was a bit much crab for me, hubby wound up finishing off my crab, but the mac and cheese with crab and shrimp was very good!

Dad went with the Gulf Grouper, Blackened. The watermelon off to the side, holy cow, it was interesting and very good.

Hubby went with the Southern-Fried Seafood Platter. It had Fried Gulf Shrimp, Coconut Shrimp, Oysters, Fish, Popcorn Shrimp and a stuffed crab garnish. He was in seafood heaven. I tried the hushpuppy, a coconut shrimp (I don’t like coconut shrimp) and some other bite he said, here try this.

When we went on our walk to the pier on Tuesday morning, I snapped a picture of the back of the restaurant.
