Yummy Chocolate Chip Cookies

The cast of Characters: Brown Sugar, Regular Sugar, Flour, Eggs, Baking Soda, Salt, Butter, Chocolate Chips, Vanilla Pudding, and an iPhone… I cook with my iPhone, don’t you?… LOL. Oh and the two who were camera shy, vanilla & Oatmeal

Preset your oven to 375 degrees

1 Cup of butter or 2 sticks. Put them at room temp (or in the microwave for 20 seconds) into the mixer.  And beat them!  Add 1 cup packed Brown sugar.  3/4 cup of White sugar (regular sugar, granulated sugar, shuga, whatever you want to call it!)

Vanilla. Now it calls for 1 tsp. My grandma always said you couldn’t have too much vanilla so I NEVER measure my vanilla because of her. Beat this all together.  Then add 2 eggs.  Next comes 2 cups of flour. Beat.  Next, add 1 tsp of baking soda and 1 tsp of Salt

Now my grandma’s secret ingredient. 1 pkg Vanilla pudding. I used French vanilla because all I could find was French Vanilla or Coconut.

Next, you add Oatmeal. It calls for 2 1/2 cups. She usually (and so do I) adds 1/2 cup of regular oats (not ground up).  And then use a food processor to grind up the other 2 cups. Beat all together.

Next comes the Milk Chocolate Chips. You can also vary from this and add Butterscotch chips or one of her favorites is those orange slices, she cuts them up and makes orange slice cookies or M&M’s. Use your imagination. I was boring and went with Milk Chocolate Chips.

Mix that all together!

Drop by teaspoon onto a baking sheet. Now here’s a cool fact. If you use the ice cream scoop as pictured above, if you look inside, usually on the swinging arm there is a number. That number actually tells you how many scoops of that size you can get of ice cream out of a 1 Quart Container. That number is usually present on all ice cream scoops with the swinging arm.

Once you have all the cookies on the baking sheet you can flatten them or leave them as is. If you leave as is, they don’t flatten in the oven… so depends do you want a flat cookie or a big round cookie. You decide.

Now her recipe calls for 10minutes and 30 seconds but in my oven that got them a little done for me so I went with about 9:50.

And there you have it… Grandma’s Chocolate Chip cookies. Now… has anyone seen my darn cell phone?

On a side note, I was baking something one night when I still had my Pantec Duo cell phone and I covered the sucker in flour. I’ll warn you right now, it Hates being covered in flour. It halfway quit working. To be able to talk to someone, they could hear you just fine but you had to put them on speakerphone b/c the earpiece to hear them went away… it DIED! So don’t try that at home!

Recipe:

1 Cup Brown Sugar
3/4 cup Regular Sugar
2 cups Flour
2 Eggs
1tsp Baking Soda
1tsp Salt
1 cup or 2 sticks Butter
1 pkg Chocolate Chips
1 pkg Vanilla Pudding
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 cups Oatmeal

Cream together the sugars & the butter. Mix in the vanilla. Next, add the eggs. Beat well. Then add the flour, baking soda & salt. Mix well. Then add the vanilla pudding. Mix. Then add the oatmeal and mix. Then add your Chocolate Chips (or whatever you choose). Bake in a 375-degree oven for 10 1/2 minutes.

Peace Love and Cookies!

  1. Ok I'm going to fess up, I don't know how to do that. I have a Tasty Kitchen login but that's the extent of my playing around other than looking at recipes.

  2. My favorite choc' chip recipe also calls for oatmeal to be ground, love them! I've never seen this vanilla pudding addition but I'm always willing to give something a try. I can no longer eat them (gluten) but husband appreciates cookies anytime.

  3. Login to TastyKitchen. Click on the “Submit a Recipe” badge on the right (just below PW's cowgirl picture). Then you start filling in the blanks. The ingredients is a bit tricky. Be sure to put the qty, for eggs put “whole” as unit” and then click on the “+” sign. You can click on an ingredient and move it up or down in the list.

Save it initially as private (means the world can't see it). This will give you your URL to put in your blog post so that you can direct people to it for rating and printing and even scaling.

After you have saved the recipe you can upload a picture. Once you the post your step-by-step or whatever type blog post, you put the URL for it in your recipe under “Related Link”. Then save it and publish it to the public. Recipes are reviewed and then approved and made public. It will only be visible to you until the review process is complete.

  4. We vacuum seal them. My fiance, when he was in Afghanistan, his mom sent them that way and he said they stayed great. The only thing that didn't was a chocolate cake, it molded before it got to him.

  5. You can find it two easy ways:

    1) Login and go to your profile by clicking on the “My Profile” at the top and then on the left click on “Recipe Box”. Your recipes are shown by default and ones you mark as “Add to my recipe box” are listed under “Community”. I saw it in your recipe box when I accepted your “Friend” request.

    2) In the search box enter the title you gave your cookies: Grandmaโ€™s Chocolate Chip Cookies
