Cattleman’s Steakhouse Cafe – Oklahoma City, OK
I really think I almost need a label that is like television or something :). You’ll see why in a bit…
Anyway Sunday before we headed out of town we finally made it to Stockyard City. Pretty cool place from what I can tell, now I just really need to get back there and check it all out. Seriously, of all the times I’ve been to Oklahoma City, it pretty much is passing through or going to the fairgrounds. I’d like to see what more the city has to offer.
Anyway I was kind of feeling steak and so was everyone else so we headed off to Cattleman’s Steakhouse Cafe. For the 2 o’clock hour on a Sunday afternoon there was a wait and the place was packed. I guess that shows what kind of a reputation they have.
Please enter, won’t you? I so want door handles like these!
Look at the pretty water glasses :). When all of us but dad ordered water she brought us larger glasses. Said the little ones just wouldn’t work :). I love that their menu had history on it which can also be found on their website.
Hey, this place was even good enough for President Bush to eat at. That must say something, right? You know, if president would eat there… Check out their other Wall of Famers!
We started off with an order of Lamb Fries. They are the house specialty. Let’s see, how to nicely put this… if you don’t know what lamb fries are that is…Some call the calf version Rocky Mountain Oysters, around here they’re called Ozark Mountain Oysters. They are, in fact, lamb nuts. Battered and deep fried. And don’t be surprised that the look on Tbug’s face… I just caught her off guard. She was eating them out of her own free will and asked for more.
Now don’t go here expecting to have Ranch dressing on your salad because they just don’t have it. Their house dressing is what replaces Ranch but I’ll tell you, it wasn’t disappointing AT ALL. In fact, very good. And I’m extremely picky with salad dressings.
Now when I was younger I used to LOVE to order Chicken Fried Steak and as a kid, I could finish one off that size. Oddly enough, these days I can’t anymore, which is probably good for my butt… With that being said, generally I just don’t order them because I hate to waste food, but Sunday I was feeling saucy I guess. We didn’t eat lunch, this was also dinner (like lunner) so I went for it. Hubby and dad also ordered the Chicken Fried Steak. Holy cow was it awesome!
It came with a side of Mashed Potatoes and gravy. Holy moly was it awesome!
Sadly I couldn’t finish all of mine but when Tbug saw I had some left she was all over eating it.
For Tbug’s meal, she went with the Spaghetti with Meat Sauce. She said it was good and pretty well finished it off before she went after my Chicken Fried steak.
Mom ordered the Lunch Sirloin which was a 5oz Sirloin cooked to Medium Rare. She said it was fabulous.
And the rolls. OMG the rolls were so yummy. I just about burst at the seams by eating it but it was so good I couldn’t quit.
And here is why I said I needed to create a labe for TV or Celebrity or something of the sorts. Guy Fieri has a show on Food Network called Diner’s, Drive-ins and Dives and he actually visited Cattleman’s Cafe and left his mark on the building. The only thing that would have made that better was if he’d been there when we were.
Y’all come back now, ya hear!
I still want a set of these door handles! Very good choice, especially on a Sunday afternoon. Good Food, Good Family!
