Little Boy Finally Has a Name

Before I begin today’s post, could I ask a favor of you in praying for my grandma.  She’s having surgery today on her ankle.

**************************************

So it has only taken a week, but our little boy has a name finally.  Before I share with you his name though, I need to tell you the background story of his name.  It’s a good one!

So my dad and I work for the same company not doing the same job but doing jobs that are closely related, so names I’ve heard what feels like my whole life, I get to actually talk to these people now.  So a week ago Monday I got a phone call from one of my dad’s people saying he needed help but promised my dad he wouldn’t call him again that day so could I help.  Well Yes, I can help :).

So while we were waiting on the system to upload/update, etc side conversations were rolling and our new baby came up.  He asked me what his name was and I told him we hadn’t decided yet so he decided we needed to name him “Kernel Sanders.”

I told him this baby wasn’t a chicken to which he replied, neither was Kernel Sanders.  So we went back and forth while on the phone and then once his problem was solved, we hung up.  I had a picture of the baby so I shot it to him.

I don’t think so Tim

The next day I got a phone call from Greg informing me that Colonel Sanders was taken by a Tennessee Walking Horse up in New England somewhere, but we could spell it with a K and be okay.

So the next day I received an email from Greg:

That’s not his name……  But he’s doin good.  I’m betting he wishes he was back in momma today since the weather turned off cold and nasty.

The next day my dad sends my husband an email and cc’ed me:

Nicole’s Hubby:
Since your colt is still un-named (at least to my perception) while I was feeding earlier today I came up with what may be the greatest name ever.  Why don’t you name him Kolonel Sanders or perhaps even Kernal Sanders.  Both of them would be unique.
Dad

I knew who the culprit was:

If you’re not careful,  you may just wind yourself up in a blog post….

So I had to follow through on my threat! And that’s just what I’m doing.  Greg wound up getting himself a blog post….

And one last thing before I reveal the babies name, an email that went out this morning to Mr. Greg….

So you’re paying me Foal Support right??

By the way, just so we’re all clear, his name is not Colonel or Kernal Sanders.

But we all did agree his barn name would be Colonel

10 Things to Smile About – March Edition

Holy Cow!  Where did March go, can someone please tell me.  Seems like just yesterday I was smiling about February and now it’s already time to smile about March.  Yikes!  I swear, some days at work it feels like time is actually standing still, but when you look at the big, whole, overall picture, I think someone hit time warp speed accidentally and life is flying by!

So today I’m linking up with EmmyMom for her 10 things to Smile about

And with Shawn & IA for Talk to us Tuesday
Seriously Shawn
And Stacy at for Random Tuesday Thoughts
Stacy

And in no particular order

1.  I started doing the Revolt Fitness as well as a Biggest Loser Competition among friends.  And even if the scales aren’t moving as fast as I prefer they would, I am starting to feel better about myself and hubby said for sure he’s seeing definition in my arms.

2.  We finally got snow, even after Spring supposedly sprung.  Mother Nature had other ideas.  And I may not be a snow person, but… it’s good for the ground, especially since last summer we were in drought conditions.  Every little bit helps!

3.  Tbug went and spent a Saturday with us at the Kansas City City Market {Farmer’s Market} and she loved it as much as we do.  We also went out to lunch & dinner and to Cabela’s & Trader Joe’s.  It was a fabulous weekend!

4.  This chicken cracks me up!  It was an email I got at work and shared here, but truthfully I feel that way some days as I’m sure we all do!

5.  We had the first baby of the season born.  She’s now a couple weeks old and a big ball of fire!

6.  I’m finally starting to adjust to this time change, but every now and again it’s still kicking my butt!

7.  The 6S we performed on my pantry is still lookin good!  Made it almost a month and everything is still “in its place”.

8.  Sunday Night Dinner‘s always make me smile

9.  The fun time we had at the Spring Gathering.

10.  And this still makes me smile.  And sorry it has a dirty word in it, but I didn’t pick the song, I just think this is awesome though.  Dressage is pretty sweet style of riding, especially to music like this.  They say generally they choose classical music.

10 Things to Smile About, February Edition

1.  Tbug got to attend a Try it Tuesday with us and give scuba diving a try.

2. The girls got to have a fun cookie day.  And the adults got the yummy cookies out of the deal, heck yeah!

3.  Rio came into our lives

4.  I made fun of hubby for trying to leave for work in his house shoes and then I tried to leave for date night in mine.  Woops 🙂

5.  We celebrated Grandma’s birthday at one of her favorite places to eat – Red Lobster

6.  We celebrated Mardi Gras with a King Cake although everyone was avoiding the “good luck” baby thinking that it meant you’d have a baby.  btw, that’s not what it means….

7.  I celebrated my 3 year reminder of the best decision I’ve ever made.

8.  Hubby and I went to a Brazilian Steakhouse for our Valentine’s Day Dinner

9.  Earl, Moo and I spent the day with my grandma getting cooking lessons on how to make Strawberry Jam, Homemade Chicken & Noodles & Kid Friendly Muffins.

10.  We finally got some winter weather.

11. Oh and I’m being a rebel and doing 11 things to smile about.  I saved the best for last: Hubby and I went Ice Skating!!!  Happy Valentine’s Day to us!

10 Things to Smile about December

Linking up with EmmyMom for her 10 things to Smile about December!

And finally
Stacy

1.  We took my Mother-in-law to the Showboat Branson Belle in Branson, MO and spent the weekend dragging her around Branson and Silver Dollar City.  Note to self, never go back the first weekend of December when it’s 70 degrees outside at night to look at Silver Dollar City lights!  Holy smokes was it cram-packed with people!

10 Things to Smile About – October

A day late and a dollar short, but I’m still here today to share what made me smile in the month of October because there sure were a bunch of things.

So without further adu and in no particular order:

7.  Josie came to live with our family!  Tbug claims her as her dawg (dog).  So cute!  Josie much prefers the water vs my Lab who is a water dog.  Very odd duckling she is!

3.  Found out I missed my calling in life… I found, attended and fell in love with the Kansas City Farmer’s Market.  Although they call it a City Market so I’m not sure if there is a difference or not.  Doesn’t matter, I LOVE it!

1.  We celebrated my daddy’s birthday plus I finally fessed up to a prank I played on the Master Prankster all through September and the first part of October.

8.  Our Running is well in and under way.  So far we’ve kept up… last week was a bit of a challenge but we’re pushing through and that’s what matters.

2.  We attended the Maple Leaf parade and were able to make it to the Marching Band field competition this year.  Ah, such fond memories!

10.  My husband lovingly washed my car keys for me again :).  Everyone needs clean keys every now and again, right?!?!

2.  I finally had to pull my dress pants out of the closet to wear to work.  You can tell how long it has been since I’ve worn dress pants to work…  I don’t care for dress pants so during the summer months it’s capri’s and dresses/skirts!

Yes, that is a crease of dust where the hanger had them folded over…

5.  We threw hubby a surprise Birthday party for his 30th Birthday!!!  He’s such a good sport.  Have I ever told you just how much I love him?

4.  Halloween, Duh!  (Oh btw happy belated Birthday Janna!)

Totally ignore the fact I have Christmas shorts on, a JD Shirt and Camo House shoes, won’t you please?!?!  No one ever said I had to match at 6 in the morning…. and is it me or do my hands look REALLY creepy?

6.  I got to spend some quality time just sitting, enjoying the scenery, being alone with my thoughts and God.  Sometimes it is great to get away from the hustle and bustle!  Btw, if you followed me on Instagram you’d have seen this photo!

9.  We got my nephew so excited about riding horses again he missed my hubby’s surprise birthday party so that he could warm his daddy’s horse up at a local rodeo.  And I lost my horse to my {step}daughter all in one day!

There are 10 there, don’t worry I counted!  Now if you haven’t shared your reasons why you smiled in October, you still have a chance.  Emmy‘s real nice and she’d love for you to link up and share! :).

p.s. Can I bug you to vote for my photos again?  Deets here

10 Things to Smile About – September

Ok so technically I’m a day late in linking up, but it’s all good, I hope, right?   I’m linking up with EmmyMom on her 10 Things to Smile About

1.  I’ve spent TWO amazing years married to this wonderful man.  We’ve been together for 4 years and married for 2 years as of September 4th.

2.  Tbug participated in her first horse show and did EXCELLENT!  You’d have thought she’s been showing for years.

3.  We taught Tbug how to play Rummy and she loves it just as much as we do.

4.  I was introduced to one of these and my life has been forever changed.

5.  I had a moment to look back and see that my life may not be quite the direction I had planned but at the same time it’s following the exact path it’s supposed to.

6.  We celebrated my Mother-in-law’s birthday on Sept 5th.

7.  Unfortunately we lost Squirty which isn’t anything to be happy about but with the knowledge of Squirty, we were able to save Mini Me and my sweet {step}daughter tried to give my dad roughly $2 in change to help save Mini Me.  It allowed us to see the sweetest side of Tbug I have ever seen.

8. We got to see the PBR Live in Springfield with my parents & Tbug.

9.  I got to give Doti a Salt (or was the pepper) shaker for her collection, even though I accidentally broke the mate.

10. Then, even though I hate running, hubby has agreed to plug away with me to do the C25K program!!

What has made you smile this month??
