40 Years….

So today, my father has worked for this company for 40 years.  Wow, that’s a really long time!  My mom is out of town for work so we celebrated this milestone last week before she left town with lunch with his co-workers & mom, hubby and me too :).

ignore the blurry phone photo!

So his boss compiled a list of things that happened the year my dad was hired.  Um… this was before I was born, so I had to look some of these up and some of these people.  I went ahead and included links (yes, I included links for things I knew too, I was on a google roll!)

  • Ride Grandpa, Ride

My grandpa grew up riding horses.  That was one of his favorite things to do. A couple years ago he went on the hunt for the perfect horse.  Everyone helped him track down a horse, when he finally wound up with this Appaloosa that he named Chico. As my grandpa got older it was harder…

Over the weekend we took a day trip to Tulsa. After church a bunch of us loaded up and headed to Tulsa, the rest of our group was already down there. Our destination was the Oklahoma Aquarium. At dive club we’d been talking about taking a trip somewhere and finally we decided on the Oklahoma…

Breakfast consisted of Pancakes. My aunt got me this really cool new cookbook, Back in the Day Bakery. If you can’t tell… the pancake recipe is from that cookbook :). • Ol’ South – Ft. Worth

One place that is near and dear to our hearts is Ol’ South Pancake House.  One good thing is they are open 24 hrs, however don’t plan on walking in and immediately getting a seat at 2am, because it probably won’t happen. Now generally we’re there on weekends (Texas) so possibly it’s easier to walk…

  1. 40 years, that's a great accomplishment!

Gas was the pirce of a sucker? Can you even imagine!

Thanks for linking up and congrats to your dad.

  2. That's so cool that your dad has worked for the same company for 40 years! My mom and dad were married in July of 1972, I'll have to ask her if she remembers some of this! 😉

  3. Ok, the costs in 72 were INSANE! It makes me wonder what things will be like in 20 years from now. It's a scary thought. I really want gas prices to go back to $.36/gallon! DANG!

Happy 40th Anniversary to your daddy!

    Thanks for linking up!

  4. Congrats! I wish not only that we could go back to those prices, I wish that we could go back to the simpler times. Our bills wouldn't really be that bad if we didn't have to have every channel on cable, smart phones, internet, laptops, etc. We have come a long way, but it's not necessarily better! Haha.

  5. That is so awesome that he worked for the same company for so long!

And love those facts! That calculator is hilarious.

And wow the prices on things. Was 1972 really 40 years ago?? Man, I am getting old

  6. Congrats to your dad! Sounds like he's hard working & dedicated. Wonderful qualities to have

Do you know I did not know we actually had a longest day in history recorded? Quite interesting!
