Book Review: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

It was interesting going back and reading this book. While it was a lot like the movie, there were a lot of differences too. I’m pretty sure years ago when I started reading the series, this was the last book I read through its entirety. But I have to say, it’s been years so I forgot quite a bit too.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J. K. Rowling

“There will be three tasks, spaced throughout the school year, and they will test the champions in many different ways … their magical prowess – their daring – their powers of deduction – and, of course, their ability to cope with danger.”

The Triwizard Tournament is to be held at Hogwarts. Only wizards who are over seventeen are allowed to enter – but that doesn’t stop Harry dreaming that he will win the competition. Then at Hallowe’en, when the Goblet of Fire makes its selection, Harry is amazed to find his name is one of those that the magical cup picks out. He will face death-defying tasks, dragons, and Dark wizards, but with the help of his best friends, Ron and Hermione, he might just make it through – alive!

Thoughts

It’s always interesting the differences between the books and the movies. Obviously the books have to give you enough details to “dream” about it. At the same time, Hollywood can’t always do everything that is written. I’m so glad that we are rereading through these books. I think hubby likes it too.

I have been asked if my little understands or not. You know, since she’s 5 years old. I hate being asked that though… she does. She can pick out similarities and differences from book to movie. 

Being on Spring Break, we’ve tried extremely hard to get through this book so that we could watch the movie before school starts back. Since school has been postponed, we had a little extra time. We were able to meet our goal which was good!
