Johnny Carino’s – Joplin, MO

Spread the love

Two Monday’s ago, wow that seems like a long time ago! Tbug had a school Christmas program.  First off I should mention she goes to public school now so with knowing everything about public schools and God being removed, it surprised and shocked me with the mention of Jesus Christ in some of their songs.  Way to go middle town America school districts!  I love it!

Anyway, moving on… on our way home from her school program we decided we needed to grab a bite to eat because it would be really late when we got home anyway.  Hubby decided we should go to Johnny Carino’s since we’d both been craving Italian.

On Monday nights they have half price family sized meals.  How cool is that?!?!  Half price Family sized Appetizers too.  Even better!

I also saw this… holy cow, I so need to try this sometime!

Anyway back to the meal itself, the waitress took our drink orders (sweet tea) and brought us warm bread and Extra Virgin Olive Oil with seasonings for dipping.  I seriously could make a meal out of the bread and EVOO seasoning mixture!

With our meal we got our choice of salad or soup.  I went with a classic ceasar salad.  Now Rachael Ray says that they make the dressing with anchovies… I sure hope that I don’t freak some of you out with that knowledge.  I’m the first person who steers clear of fish, but I sure like a good ceasar salad.

Hubby went with the soup.  He wound up with Minestrone because they were out of their potato soup.  The waitress said they had a large run on soup that day.

I had gone to the restroom while hubby placed our order and I came back to a family sized order of Mozzarella sticks.

Mozzarella with Marinara

Breaded in special seasonings. Served with spicy marinara sauce

Now I could make a meal out of these too because I like a good mozzarella stick and these were fantastic!  Being family sized, we had left overs for the next night!!  They were even good reheated.

Then came the main course.  We love Chicken Parmesan and this is very very good.

Homemade Parmigiana marker

Our signature recipe. Tomato sauce, parmesan and mozzarella. Served with spaghetti

The chicken was perfect.  Now I’m not a huge fan of spaghetti sauce, I prefer the cheese sauces better, however their spaghetti sauce doesn’t disappoint.  Getting the family size, we had leftovers for the next night!!

Oh No, spaghetti Overboard!!!

Now back in July I signed up for Pasta Points.  They said it was a free rewards points card.  I was like sign me up :).  With so many dollars spent you earn free money.  I was up to $5 so we applied that toward our bill.

Plus on my card I had a free mini dessert.  Hubby and I went with Tiramisu.

Homemade Tiramisu

Ladyfinger cookies soaked in espresso and layered between a sweet Italian custard blended with rum and coffee liqueur

Tiramisu is one of our favorite desserts!  This mini was the perfect size to share.  Enough sweet to finish out the meal, but not to much to over indulge!

And you really can’t tell by this photo, but it’s a mini spoon to go with the mini dessert.

YUM!!

This was the real kicker… we had 2 drinks, family appetizer, family meal and dessert for $23 and change before tip.  And out of this we wound up with 4 meals (two that night and two the next night in leftovers!)  That came out to $5.75 a meal.  I think that’s a fairly good deal, especially for eating out!!!
