Dear Ann Landers

I wish i could give credit to this, but unfortunately I can’t. Let me explain… If my mother reads this I’ll be in deep sh*t with her… haha… My mother hates having her picture taken. When she and my dad got married she almost didn’t have a photographer but my grandmother told her she’d regret it someday if she didn’t, so she got the smallest package available. Me, being the bright daughter I am decided that while she was out of town this week that I would scan all their wedding photos so I could have a digital copy. She got mad at me a few years ago for showing them to people and hid them but they’ve been found… shhhh don’t tell on me! And No, I wasn’t the one who found them. So anyway when I opened the box they were in I saw this newspaper clipping and fell in love with it. I just knew I had to share it with all of you. So this was a newspaper clipping from probably back in 1978, the year my parents were married, give or take a few years. She cut it out and the date was cut away from this clipping. Hope you enjoy and I’d give credit if I could.

Dear Ann Landers:
I hate to be a pig, but I need two things from you. First, your definition of “class,” which my mother clipped out and pinned to the kitchen bulletin board. It stayed there for nearly six months.
I also need your definition of “love.” I carried that one in my wallet for almost two years. Then somebody stole my purse.
I realize my chances for getting both requests granted are about one in a million, but I have nothing to lose except a 15-cent stamp. – Denver

Dear Den:
Here are both definitions. I’m glad you asked. It made my day a lot easier.

Class

Class never runs scared. It is sure-footed and confident that it can handle whatever comes along.
Class never makes excuses. It takes its lumps and learns from past mistakes.
Class knows that good manners are nothing more than a series of petty sacrifices.
Class bespeaks an aristocracy unrelated to ancestors or money. A blue-blood can be totally without class, while the son of a Welsh miner may ooze class from every pore.
Class can “walk with kings and keep its virtue and talk with crowds and keep the common touch.”Everyone is comfortable with the person who has class because he is comfortable with himself.

Love

Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weakness.
Love is content with the present, it hopes for the future, and it doesn’t brood over the past. It’s the day-in and day-out chronicle of irritations, problems, compromises, small disappointments, big victories, and working toward common goals.
If you have love in your life, it can make up for a great many things you lack. If you don’t hae it, no matter what else there is, it’s not enough.
