So back in June of 2010 I did this little survey about my blog. I’ve been messing with my blog over the last month and wound up stumbling across this blog. I thought it could be fun to do an update… Let’s see what’s changed! 1. started your own blog 2. slept under the stars 3. played in a band 4. visited Hawaii 5. watched a meteor shower
6. given more to charity than you could afford to 7. been to Disney 8. climbed a mountain
9. held a praying mantis
10. sung a solo
11. bungee jumped
12. visited Paris 13. watched a thunder and lightning storm 14. taught yourself an art from scratch
It’s funny… the chain of events that happen in your life. The way that the world goes round. Evolution if you want to go there… whatever you want to call it, life is weird!
You are a baby and a young kiddo and you think your parents are the grandest. Then you get pre-teens through your teenage years and you start looking at your parents like they are crazy and aliens and everything else.
Then you get into your 20’s and your parents are your friends and become cool again…
dun dun dun…
Then you have your own family and you turn into your parents.
I realized this tonight when I was repeating “sleep sack” in a funny voice saying how much baby girl loves to sleep in her sleep sack. (I don’t know what else to call them… they are fleece things with arms and the bottom is like a sack and they zip in them). That’s when I had one of those ho crap moments and thought I’m turning into my mother, or what I can only imagine my mother like at my age (maybe not age… maybe point in life).
Now if only I could be the size my mother was at my age! She wore a size 4. I’m not sure I’ve ever worn a 4, not even in my skinny years… ha!
But that’s neither here nor there. Just know, I’m turning into both of my parents in different ways. I guess my parents really are cool. But don’t tell them I said that… lol… we’ll keep that our little secret :).
Good morning friends! Well, I’ve survived my first 2 night classes of the semester. I just hope I’ll make it through the rest of them. I don’t really care for night classes to be honest. Anyway I’ll quit complaining! So, I was at my parents house this weekend cleaning out my old bedroom and found a paper I wrote for my Senior Year Cadet Teaching Class. I got 100 on it. Since this is my first week back at school, I thought it would be fun to share it with you. So welcome back to Fall/Spring 2000/2001 which was my senior year of high school.
“Why I am taking Cadet Teaching”
For the past few years of school I have watched the teachers teach students. They come up with new ways to get a point across so that students learn to the fullest. It seems like teachers have a little bit of a different way to get a point across but they all have the same outcome. While I watch the different teaching techniques my mind always stores the cool ideas. Now that I am in my last year of high-school it is time to start planning my future. Now that it seems like my future is coming faster, teaching has always stuck in my mind. I have always wanted to take some of the ideas I have seen presented to me and present them to other students who are younger. When I found out I could have the chance to work with a teacher and see if teaching was really what I wanted to pursue I jumped at the chance. I have committed myself to students just as I once had an older person committed to me. What I really hope to get from this is the skills of working and communicating with younger students. When you work with younger students you have to think more about how to talk with them. It is different talking to different age groups. If I realize that teaching isn’t for me, at least I will have the know how of how to communicate which will make me an all-around better citizen. I hope to bring to the children the “want” in doing better in school and so they continue their education and not drop out. I have had older students and adults touch my life and I want to be one of those life touchers.
Tuesday was a rough day at our house. Poor baby girl didn’t feel good. On a good, normal day we might wake up at 2am, definitely 4am and sometimes 6am… but Tuesday morning was different. If you’d like to check out 2 of my other days go here (January 8, 2013 and May 12, 2013)
2am. We woke up at our 2am hour, the difference was, she didn’t want to eat. Like at all. And she wouldn’t quit crying. I tried and tried to comfort her but there was no comforting her.
3am. By 3am I was tired and cranky myself. Hubby woke up and said let him try to comfort her. He tried to feed her and again, she wanted nothing to do with eating.
4am. I knew hubby needed to get sleep so I took her out of the bedroom into the living room. I tried holding her, rocking her, putting her in her swing… nothing seemed to work, at all! Hubby came out of the bedroom and said to let him try. She stopped crying for a few minutes but then started right back up. Still nothing seemed to work, so I took her back and told him to go back to bed.
5am. I turned on the tv and camped out in the chair hoping that I could get her to settle down. Finally hubby said to bring her to bed, he’d try to get her to sleep again. I laid her down in bed with him and she immediately stopped, closed her eyes and went to sleep. I just about broke down and cried. Hubby told me to go take a shower. I was swearing at 5am that baby girl didn’t like me, in fact she hated my guts at this point :(. It made me sad!
6am-9am baby girl and I snoozed.
10am. We finally woke up and had a break down again. I figured she would be hungry at this point. She still wanted NOTHING to do with eating. It was the weirdest thing. So I picked baby girl up and rocked her and sang to her and finally got her to burp and that put her back to sleep.
11am. Baby girl just slept and slept. Every now and again she’d wake up, I’d burp her and she’d go back to sleep. I just stayed in bed with her. It was obvious she didn’t feel good at all.
12pm. I settled in and watched tv. Baby girl just needed mommy time I guess. Maybe she does like me… that or I was her only option… lol.
1pm. I was able to lay her down and get myself lunch finally. I noticed she has her mommy’s thumb. Some people have what is known as a hitchhiker thumb. You know, their thumb is like double jointed or something and bends back like that. Mine does, daddy’s doesn’t.
2pm. We were still in bed. Baby girl didn’t feel good at all, poor baby but I took advantage of the baby snuggles.
3pm. I finally was able to start blogging. At least reading blogs that is.
4pm. Around 4pm she finally decided to wake up so I took advantage of this time and we went to the kitchen. I decided that I had cherries in the fridge and a pie crust ready to go so we made our first (we, she… I’ve done this before) Cherry Pie.
5pm. We went on watching tv to kill time and you know, more baby snuggles. Once we started watching Family Fued the timer went off on the pie.
6pm. Hubby ran to my parents house to do chores to help mom and dad out and when he got home we headed over to the poles to go vote.
7pm. On Sunday my grandma made hubby and me this awesome meatloaf. When we got home from the voting poles we asked what we were going to have for dinner. (we asked as in we asked each other…) I told hubby that the meatloaf we had was awesome. He said we had hamburger so I called my grandma to ask her how to make the meatloaf. Again, yum but Grandma’s was better.
8pm. After dinner we had dessert… The awesome cherry pie. YUM! Baby girl slept through that part… One of these days she’ll have to try a pie she makes, just not today I guess… 🙂
9pm. I really needed to wake her up and start getting ready for bed, but the poor thing still didn’t feel good. Her belly gurgled and churned all day long. She farted and burped. So we just let her sleep. Sometimes sleep is the best remedy.
10pm. With the help of hubby we finally got her ready for bed. It was easier to just give her a shower with one of us in the shower and the other washing her so she got a shower. She loves those showers, way better than her bathtub. That’s okay baby girl, mommy and daddy like showers too! She gets so relaxed in our arms in the shower.
11pm. We got her out of the shower, dressed, wrapped up and fed and she was out like a light, that is until 2am the next morning but the next day was a much better day. And she woke up hungry almost every hour…
This was quite an interesting day for sure but we made it through with lots of baby snuggles. I definitely wouldn’t change that for the world but I sure would change it and make baby girl feel better.
How far along? 37 weeks 6 days Total weight gain/loss: Like I said last week, don’t eat and then go to the dr to have yourself weighed, it’s really hard on your mental psyche! How big is baby?Your baby’s the size of a winter melon! Yay! Baby has reached full term. She likely measures around 18.9 to 20.9 inches and weighs about 6.2 to 9.2 pounds. She’s gaining about 1/2 ounce each day.
She’s practicing some skills: inhaling, exhaling, sucking, gripping and blinking.
She’s getting her first sticky poop (called meconium) ready for her first diaper.
How far along? 34 weeks 6 days Total weight gain/loss: I was quite surprised after a weekend at the lake, my weight didn’t go up that much, score, right? I feel like a walking beached whale right now. Especially trying to get off the stinking bed! Oh, and you should have seen me trying to get out of the bed in the RV this weekend… How big is baby? Baby is the size of a Butternut Squash. She weighs in at about 4.2 pounds to 5.8 pounds and measures about 17.2 to 18.7 inches. {Holy cow, is there room for that in there??}
She’s recognizing and reacting to simple songs if you’re singing them. (If you’re not, start! She may find them soothing after birth.)
She’s also urinating about a pint a day. {Lovely thought…}
How far along? 31 weeks 6 days Total weight gain/loss: blah blah How big is baby? Baby is the size of a Pineapple. She’s about 15.2 to 16.7 inches long and weighs 2.5 to 3.8 pounds this month. She’s getting so big, she’s probably crowding your lungs.

Eye development, too. Her irises now react to light!

How far along? 18 weeks 6 days Total weight gain/loss: Well I go to the doctor this today so I dunno…. How big is baby? Baby is compared to a Sweet Potato this week. Baby is about 5.6 inches long and about 6.7 ounces and growing rapidly.
Baby is yawning, hiccuping, sucking and swallowing
Baby is twisting, rolling, punching and kicking too. Big enough you might be able to feel it.
