Advice

A piece of advice you have for others. Anything at all.

If there is a piece of advice I can give you, I’ll give it to all my couples readers.  Couples whether you are married or just dating, heck even my single readers can take away from this…  Are you listening close?

Never air your dirty laundry in public

What do I mean by that?  If you and your significant other are arguing… keep it between you.  No one else is in your relationship and no one else knows the extent of the argument.  You can tell your side of the story and generally the person you are telling it to will side with you because they are your friends.  No one needs to take sides except you and your partner and at that, you need to resolve it between yourselves.  No one else is in that relationship.  Point blank.
And I know I’ve only been married a little under 3 years but that’s the best advice I’ve been given and that’s the best advice I can give.
Do you agree with me?

    Dear Grandma

Dear Grandma, Today would have been your birthday.  I know I use past tense, truthfully I wish I was using the present tense.  I miss you.  More than you’ll ever know, I miss you.  If you were still here you’d have the pleasure of meeting your grandson-in-law and your great {step}granddaughter.  Unfortunately I guess I…

    Current Thoughts

Have I ever told you that I sing Christmas songs year round?  Well, it’s true.  I’m sitting here in an air conditioned house, while it is 91 degrees outside and supposedly feels closer to 100 and yet I’m sitting in here, in the house, singing We Wish You A Merry Christmas in my head.  Am…

  • Fear Rules

I show up every day, even multiple times per day and lately am unsure what to write. I start filling the blank white page with garble that’s rumbling around in my head and then I refuse to hit publish for fear. Fear of being judged. Fear of no one reading. Just… Fear. I have another…

  1. I'm thinking about Facebook. Hhahaha! Sometime's I worry about the stuff people feel comfortable enough to share on such a public place. I don't care if they are all my friends. Some things you just don't talk about.

  2. Very much agree with you. It seems in the world of Facebook, Twitter & blogging, we see too much of couples' “dirty laundry” floating around! Of course, I don't have a man to openly fight with – haha! – but I hope that the day I do, we can keep it between us! Nobody else's business!!

  3. I agree! It drives me crazy when I see things posted about that. I try my hardest to not speak bad about Dylan to other people. It doesn't matter what he did to drive me crazy that day, it's not their business!

  4. Totally agree!!! I have friends that fight in front of everyone and it is really obnoxious and makes us not want to be around them. If Josh and I have an issue we take it somewhere private or wait til we get home to discuss it.

  5. Agreed! When Chris and I were first dating everyone was always in our business. Now that we are married with kids, it doesn't really seem to be much of an issue anymore. Well that and we don't fight or even see each other lately! haha

  6. You are right. It's not just Facebook, Blogger or Twitter, either.
Every newspaper, garbage magazine, and so many TV shows, think we need to know everything about everyone.

Well I don't, and I think there are a lot of people who feel just like you and I do.

They should not air their dirty laundry.

  7. I agree 100%. Unfortunately, when you have a close knit family like mine, it's hard to keep “problems/discussions” under wraps. My kids are blabber mouths. Grandma always finds out that mommy was mad at daddy! LOL

  8. I wholeheartedly agree. When other people try to get involved it just screws things up even more! You need to communicate with your partner, not everyone else!
