Are you jealous? Be jealous!

As we’re approaching lunch time, isn’t it a good time to blog about food? I think so :). And it’s my blog after all so that’s what I’m going to do. I really think this weekend evolved or maybe that’s revolved around food. You be the judge :).

Friday night after hubby loaded the trailer with hay, we decided to run into town to go to dinner. I really wanted Italian and there’s a new Italian restaurant so we decided to check it out. It’s a good thing we did! Vito’s Italian Restaurant.

Since they are a new restaurant they are still ironing out the hitches… Our waiter forgot to bring us bread, but the hostess fixed that quickly. Our server had quite a few tables too so no big deal. The bread was good. I agree with hubby it would have been nice to have oil to dip it in, but the bread was very good. Oh and it was good dipped in the cream sauce from my entrée.

Speaking of my entrée, here’s what I had. I can’t remember what it was called but it was fantabulous. Yes I said fantabulous. It was ham and black olives sautéed with tortellini in a cream sauce with a touch of red sauce. Oh wow. And Abug even ate this up.

Wednesday nights: Dinner, Diving & Ice Cream!

There is a local children’s camp that the dive shop we dive with goes to every Wednesday night for 8 weeks. Last year hubby and I had the pleasure of going and helping Deb & Grady out and we had a lot of fun. This year we discussed it and thought Tbug might have fun helping out as well so we made arrangements to get her every Wednesday night for 8 weeks minus the week she’s on vacation to go help as well.

We meet up at the dive shop on Wednesday nights, usually after giving Dan grief all. day. long. about it being Wednesday as he forgot the first week… We love you Dano! Anyway we meet up at the shop and leave between 5 & 5:30 to head for dinner first. Usually we either eat Wendy’s or Hardee’s. This year it’s been predominately Wendy’s.

And I wanted to write this great post about how we love them and they love us. In fact when we walked in they recognized us as the Wednesday dinner crowd :). But this week, wow they mixed our order up so bad. They haven’t done that since last year… it was crazy. So usually they’re great!

We all pretty much got the same thing, either a Baconator or a Son of a Baconator, fries and a drink. My Son of a Baconator only wound up with 1 patty. Whatever… it was still good. Then I started complaining that I needed a selfie stick again. Hey, my birthday is July 30th, who is sick of hearing about the selfie stick and wants to send me one. ha!

Quite the Interesting Weekend….

I’m going to state this now, we don’t have typical weekends at our house.  I’m not sure why, we just don’t.  So here’s how our weekend went.

Friday night we met up with a bunch of friends and went out to dinner at a sushi restaurant.  Wait, I ate Sushi.  Yup, sure did.  I know that’s a first for me, especially since I’m not into fish really but I only ate cooked sushi and I’m all for trying things.  Never said I have to like it, but I give it a go and try. I even attempted eating with chopsticks because that was really my only option.  It was… interesting!  I kinda suck at that!

Then we went home and went to bed because we had to get up early the next morning.  Busy day!

Saturday we woke up, loaded up the car and headed to Extreme Sports Scuba where we attended an Equipment Maintenance Seminar.  On our way I was in the mood for Starbucks so I conned hubby in to stopping and getting me a piece of their Lemon Pound Cake and a Mocha Frappe.  Yum!

From there we made our way to the dive shop for an equipment maintenance seminar.

Earlier this week I was craving donuts and they just so happened to have donuts (and coffee) at the seminar.  I may or may not have eaten 3 donuts, but in my defense, hubby wanted one and couldn’t have one so I ate one for him plus Peanut wanted one.

From there we had to head to Tulsa to pick Tbug up.  It was about noon when we left Joplin so we decided to just eat lunch when we got to Tulsa so we made the 2 hour drive.  Man by the time we got there we were hungry.  We went to Utica Square and ate at PF Changs.

Mine was the bottom, hubbys was the top.

From there we headed on to the Tulsa Convention Center to see Tbug’s cheer team perform.  They won first in their division which qualified them for Nationals.

After the awards we decided to head back to Utica Square and eat at the Olive Garden.  Boy let me tell you about that experience… So hubby went in and put our name on the list.  They gave us a buzzer and told us it would be about 20 minutes.  So as we sat there we noticed at least 2 parties one of 3 and one of 4 that came in after us but was seated before us.  Hubby went up to ask what happened, yeah they didn’t put our name on the list.  So they seated us immediately.  No big deal.  The guy who seated us took our drink order, Tbug and I ordered a Peach Bellini Iced Tea and hubby ordered water.  A waitress brought our drinks and said who got the 2 unsweet teas and who got the water.  I sat there for a minute trying to see if I really heard her say unsweet and sure enough she did.  Still no big deal but really? lol.  I looked at hubby and said, “This is going to be an experience.”  A second waitress came to take our food order.  Hubby asked for soup and I asked for a side of ranch dressing for my salad.  So the came out with 3 salad bowls and no ranch dressing.  Hubby was like, um… I asked for soup (still we didn’t throw a fit) and I was like and I asked for a side of ranch dressing.  Ok that was fixed.  Then we were asked if we’d like cheese on our salad, I said yes and we waited 3-5 minutes before they came back with the cheese.  I couldn’t help but laugh.  So then it was time for our entree’s.  Everything came out okay except hubby ordered a steak and they didn’t bring him a steak knife.  The waitress said I’ll go get you one. He sat there for about 5 minutes and I offered him my butter knife.  He was like I have one so he ate half his steak with a butter knife.  Finally the waitress came back to see how our food was and I was like, is he not allowed a steak knife?  She was like oh I forgot.  Hubby was like I’m finished can I have a to go box.  Instead she brought him back a steak knife.  Then tbug and I got up to go to the bathroom and the guy who seated us came by and asked if our experience got better.  Hubby was like, I ate half my steak with a butter knife, what do you think.  The guy was like, no probably not.  I was sooooooooo ready to go home by this point.  Didn’t help we had a 2 hour drive home after this fun experience.

We got home around 11:15 and all crashed for the night.

Sunday we woke up and laid around lazy until it was time to go meet my parents at Long Horn for lunch.  Then we came home and hubby changed the oil in his truck.  Finally hubby started working on our Sunday Night Dinner food and then it was time to take Tbug back to her mom so since hubby was cooking I ran her to town.  Then we met back up at Earl’s house for dinner.  Quite the interesting weekend!  And now it’s Monday.

Thanksgiving {in one post}

Okay, one post.  Let’s get this show on the road.  We’re going to do Thanksgiving in 1 post which will make it photo heavy so get your eyes ready, your coffee brewed and whatever else you do!  This year’s Thanksgiving we headed down south.  My aunt and uncle live in southern Oklahoma and the NCHA Futurity is going on in Ft. Worth.  A guy that works for UB had a horse in the futurity show on Thursday morning so UB woke up at 4am and headed to Ft. Worth.  He said he’d work his horse and help Shane and then he’d be home so we planned our Thanksgiving meal around that time frame.

Hubby and I were in charge of the turkey.  Tbug helped AC with some of the appetizers and sides.  I jumped in and helped as well because we all know I love to cook.  But mostly I stood around and took pictures and drove my aunt nuts… haha.  I guess she didn’t know I’ve gotten into taking pictures of everything.  We had a very leisurely morning, appetizers for lunch and ate dinner around 4pm.

I guess now we’ll allow the photos to do their own talking, except I’ll help now and again :).

Don’t worry, I chopped the ‘shrooms after Tbug washed them.

We had eggs and bacon for breakfast Thursday morning.

One thing that I absolutely love is watching the Thanksgiving Parade.  Usually I don’t get the chance so it was exciting to see Santa Claus bringing an end to the parade.  Let the Christmas season come!

Dad was able to watch all the runs going on at the Futurity because I set my laptop up and he watched the live feed.

Appetizer lunches are the best.

Don’t show AC, she’ll disown me but it was soooo cute.

Happy Thanksgiving!

After we ate dinner we went to help AC set up her Christmas tree.

Tbug kept picking on me and I told her I’d sit on her.  She didn’t think I’d do it so I showed her.

One of my favorite comments of the night… This tree has to be like 10-20 feet taller than me.  Holy cow!  I’ll have you know the tree is 12′ tall. But it totally cracked me up.

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and let the Christmas season commence.

Mini Me

So Mini Me isn’t so crazy about trailers, but do you blame him?  Last fall, a 3 1/2 hour trip while he was sick was his first time he’d ever been in a trailer.  His 3 1/2 hour trip home was the 2nd.  So heading to Stillwater this time, was only time number 3 of being in a trailer.  He’s not crazy about them…

Because once they got him to OSU, they tried to put him in stocks, which he refused.  Dad wound up having to back him in.  Then he refused to leave, they had to back him back out.  Hey, he knows how to back.

Once he’s in the stocks, they poke and prod and do weird things to him.  Do you blame him for not wanting to go in the stocks??

But out of all the horses that OSU saw around the same time, with the same or similar symptoms, he’s one of the horses that is doing the best.  They wanted him to come back for a follow up visit, and to take some video’s of him to study.  Here they are taking his temperature which was 100.4 degrees.  Normal is 101.5 or lower.  Doing good so far!!

Here she’s listening to his breathing, swollowing, that sort of thing that goes on in his neckal area :).  Like that term?  Neckal…  it’s real technical.

I think he was less than enthused while they were listening to different aspects of his body.  At one point they put a bag over his nose.  Reason for this is you can’t tell a horse to take a deep breath like you do a human, so they put a bag over their nose which causes them to speed up their breathing and when you remove the bag, it causes them to take a deep deep breath.  See what you can learn!!

Here’s where they were doing the video of him walking and trotting down the hallway.  The real kicker is once they were finished the gal who was leading him here walked him straight in to the stocks.  Dad was like, go figure.

Once they were finished with his check up visit, dad and hubby went to load him back in the trailer, which he was having no part of.  Hubby was like, leave him here for a week and he’d be more than happy to get in.  Anyway eventually one of the vets came out and decided to give him a bit of a sedative to calm him down.  Once they did that, I guess another vet came out and wanted to watch him move and they were like, nope, because you won’t get a good view now.  So hubby and the vet linked arms and picked his butt up off the ground which caused him to put his front feet up into the trailer and they got him loaded.  Silly goose!

His check up went good and they said out of all the horses who have survived, he’s doing better than most.  Finger’s crossed we continue that way!  We’re working now on breeding mares back for 2014 babies.

Rib Crib – Stillwater, OK

If you remember back last fall, my parents made a middle of the night trip to Stillwater with Squirty and then 2 days later dad, hubby and I made a mad dash back to Stillwater with Mini Me trying to save him.  We were able to save Mini Me, especially since the few days prior with Squirty, we knew the warning signs.

There’s still no sign as to what caused that to happen, however there were apparently other cases of the same thing happening to other horses near the Stillwater area.  (not sure the distance)

Anyway one of the vets at OSU called my dad and asked how Mini Me was doing and if dad would be willing to bring him back down for a follow up visit.  Dad said he would so last Wednesday dad and hubby took off work and headed for Stillwater.

They were running ahead of schedule when they got to Stillwater so they decided to grab a bite to eat before they had Mini Me’s appointment with the Vet School.  They chose to eat at Rib Crib.

Knowing that I love my restaurant reviews (which I haven’t really done much of lately) they were soo kind to take photos for me.  Although I got some smart alic photos as well… but I won’t share and bore you with those :).  Ok maybe just one 🙂

The Rib Crib sauces.  There is Hot Sauce, Mild sauce and a Carolina Mustard Sauce.  Ahhh I just love Rib Crib and haven’t actually eaten at one in a while.  Looking at these pictures I sooo want to go ASAP! 🙂

Scuba Diving & Dinner – What more could you ask for?!?!

Saweeeeet!  Yup, no reason for saying that, just really felt like it :).  So last Tuesday night, the 12th, was another Try it Tuesday for Scuba Diving.  I have to say, I felt a lot more comfortable and took full advantage over the last time!

We made arrangements where Tbug got to go with us to try it as well.  To say she was nervous is a bit of an understatement governor!  (said in my best British voice, but I have no idea why).

We get different sized tanks for different sized people.  There were a few other kiddo’s that beat us there and to the punch so Tbug had to wait her turn.  No biggie though, she swam around with the other kids for a while.  Then once it was her turn, we suited her up (although we didn’t actually put a suit on her, we put the tank and goggles and fins etc).  They gave her instructions and then her daddy and I tried to walk her through this.

Sadly though, if you’ve ever worked with your own kids, sometimes they won’t listen to you, I’m not sure why though.  So we had D the man step in and walk her through it.  That’s what she needed.  Look at her go!

Once she got more comfortable D the Man let her go at her own speed and we had to go finding her :).  haha.

TB was at it again as well.  Look at him go.

I think eventually that TB, Tbug & ZebraGirl were playing hide and seek or something.  haha.

Longhorn Steakhouse – Tulsa, OK

Back at the beginning of January we tried to go to Longhorn in Joplin for Tbug’s birthday but were unable to get in due to the sheer volume of people and wait time, on a Wednesday no less.

One thing we debated that night was if Tbug had ever been to a Longhorn Steakhouse.  We weren’t sure until we got down to Tulsa for Tbug’s cheer competition.  After her competition, she went to eat lunch with all of us.  We chose to go to Longhorn Steakhouse in Tulsa which reminded us that, Yes, she has been to a Longhorn Steakhouse, the previous year with us.

As with the Longhorn in Joplin, you start with unlimited freshly-baked Honey Wheat bread and butter.  YUM! (more…)
