It’s Her Party and she’ll cry if she wants to

Spread the love

Did you know I have a toddler on my hands. Oh you did? Well did you know my Toddler is Two? Can you believe it? I’m not sure I can. Someone please pinch me and tell me how in the world she got to be so grown up. Seems just like yesterday I was trying to wake hubby up to take me to the hospital so we could do this thing. I still remember most of that day word for word… or thought for thought… or whatever… In fact, I think I remember that better than the day I got married, but I guess the day I got married was about 4 years before that so there is that. Anyway, moving on….

Abug is totally in to Minnie Mouse right now, so my goal was to throw her a Minnie Mouse Birthday Party. I scoured the internet for ideas and themed parties. I stumbled across a cake in the shape of Minnie Mouse, done by circular cake pans so I decided that’s the cake we were going to make her. I was sad because I baked my cake and it dried out. My week/weekend was hectic, so I baked the cake on Thursday for the Sunday birthday party. I guess no wonder it dried out. Oh well…

My mom and I went to Party City on Tuesday last week to look for decorations when we found this gliding Minnie Mouse Balloon. Mom said she needed it because how many times will her granddaughter turn 2. When Liss and Wes got to our house, I still didn’t have it blown up, so I got Wes to help me because I wasn’t sure what I was doing. They would have blown it up for us at the store, but we bought it 5 days before the party and didn’t want to take our chances so we bought a helium tank at Walmart.

This years menu included smoked ribs, grilled chicken, hashbrown casserole, wilted lettuce, corn salad, rolls (similar), and sweet tea. Hey, the kid LOVES Sweet Tea and it’s her party.

She had quite the party turn out too :). Grandma, Papa, Memaw, Grandpa, Great Grandma J, Great Grandma W, Tbug, Daddy, Liss, Wes, EA, Dill Pickle, Jared, Greg, and Holly. Not too shabby little girl, not to shabby!

I made the icing and placed the cake on the cardboard, then I drew in the outline. From there I showed Tbug what to do and had her ice/decorate the cake. I accidentally didn’t set the ears close enough together for one Bow like Minnie wears, so this Minnie wore 2 bows. Hey, it’s all good!

Then it was time to light the candle and let her make a wish and blow it out. Tbug helped her (and so did daddy)

Then it was present time. The cool thing about this age is I can take her present shopping with me and she forgets between when we buy them and when she gets them what she got. I think I’ll miss that next year or the year after that…. Oh well, it’s still fun to see the excitement on her face. She kept enlisting hep from Liss, Dill Pickle, and Tbug in opening her presents. That and she’d tear off a piece of paper, take it to someone, go back and tear off another piece, etc, repeat until the present was unwrapped.

Funny story about this… So she went present shopping with us. I picked this up, looked at it, she took it from my hands, put it in the cart, and looked at us and said, Thank you. Oh so you don’t want it right? ha! If you can’t tell by the look on her face, she was extremely excited about getting this.

Yes, we had her party outside. It was so stinking hot so we put swimsuits on and hopped in the pool. I’ll tell you, we just got our pool filled back up and we use well water… so to say it was cold is an understatement.

And who doesn’t take selfie’s while jumping off a diving board? I mean seriously people, priorities!

We had one balloon escape us. Then it got stuck in a tree before eventually leaving us. By balloon, it was nice knowing you!

Tbug decided to practice diving skills in our pool. She started with her dad’s gear and then eventually went and got her gear. Her dad sank her gear at the bottom of the deep end, had her swim down with mask and fins on and put it on. Not to difficult… you get there and grab that regulator immediately. Everything else is easy :). or easyish!

EA didn’t feel good. She even wound up taking a nap for a good 30 minutes to an hour in the pool on her momma.

And that my friends is all she wrote. I now have a full blown toddler on my hands and she let me know it yesterday at a store when she had a melt down because I wouldn’t let her run a stroller into someone. Hey, whatever floats your boat I guess.
