Week 37

How far along? 37 weeks 6 days

Total weight gain/loss: Like I said last week, don’t eat and then go to the dr to have yourself weighed, it’s really hard on your mental psyche!

How big is baby? Your baby’s the size of a winter melon! Yay! Baby has reached full term. She likely measures around 18.9 to 20.9 inches and weighs about 6.2 to 9.2 pounds. She’s gaining about 1/2 ounce each day.

  • She’s practicing some skills: inhaling, exhaling, sucking, gripping and blinking.
  • She’s getting her first sticky poop (called meconium) ready for her first diaper.

Maternity Clothes? I had to give up a pair of my shorts this week… not because they didn’t fit but they only had the short band (vs having the high up band) and it kept pinching my lower belly. It’s summer, I need shorts man… lol.

Stretch Marks? So last week I went to a Pure Romance party and they have this stuff called Save My Skin. I’m sure no matter what I’d have stretch marks but… I got that stuff and it has made them where they don’t hurt/itch nearly as bad and hubby thinks they’re actually toning down in color.

Best moment this week? Just all the love from my family and friends checking on me since I’m getting so close. I don’t like to be center of attention so I’m not saying that because of that, it’s all true and sincere that everyone is making sure I’m okay. I have the best family and friends! I’ve tried very hard not to milk the “I’m pregnant” card like some do :).

Movement? Yup baby girl is still moving. It’s funny feeling when she gets the hiccups which I think she has right now. It almost feels like a heartbeat… very consistent.

Food Cravings/Aversions? I never really had these… not any more so than not being pregnant… well I guess the aversions I’ve had… lol :). But I still really like Cheeseburgers :).

What I miss: I miss not having swollen feet. People don’t believe that my ankles and feet are swollen, but here’s what my feet usually look like (pre-pregnancy) (oh and ignore the funky tan lines please please…)

And here’s what I’m dealing with right now…

And here is what my feet are looking like most days anymore….

What I’m looking forward to: I’m really looking forward to meeting this bundle of joy although I’m scared out of my mind too! I’d really like her to hold off until I can finish up summer school next week!

Nausea/Vomiting? No not really.

Labor signs? Not that I know of. Maybe some Braxton Hicks contractions every now and again but I’m not really sure because I don’t know what they should feel like.

Gender? We have had them verify it’s a girl 4 different times. I’d say she’s a girl 🙂 I guess we’ll know for sure when she comes out.

Belly Button in or out? Oh it’s out. It spends most of its time out these days. I did learn that the brown/black look it has is normal. It has something to do when she came together and formed or something like that. After I have her it should go back down in color.

Wedding rings on or off? I am sooooo ready to have my rings back.

Sleep? Naps have become my friend again this week. I’m always tired.

Weekly Wisdom: Okay so I should come clean and admit that somehow I got off on my weekly numbers (but I’m still counting along even though I’m off so technically as of today I’m 7 days away) and I’m actually at 38 Weeks 5 days or something like that. Saturday I hit 39 weeks. To say I’m freaking out is a huge understatement. And after yesterday’s drs appointment, they think I might have to have a C-section because she’s not dropping like she needs to so I’m actually kind of really glad I have school right now because it’s keeping my mind off of things!

Due Date: Thursday June 26 but she’s measuring about a week ahead of schedule… by golly I do believe she’ll come when she wants :). Wonder if I make it through Summer School before she comes…. After yesterday’s drs appt I’m thinking she’s not coming for the next week.

Five Thoughts on this Friday: I didn’t have school on Monday because of Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday. I really don’t remember getting this day off last year but I’ll take it! Last night I was standing in the kitchen. The way our house was designed, you can see the back door from the kitchen. Everyone uses the back door. to enter and exit the house unless it’s pouring down rain or slicker than snot. Then usually we use the basement route. Otherwise, EVERYONE uses the back…
