The Perfect Summer Sandwich

Spread the love

With summer drawing to an end, I just wanted to talk about one of my favorite sandwiches to have, especially in the summer months.  The classic BLT!  Bam!

Start with Bacon.  If you’re cooking a bunch of bacon at a time, the easiest way is to place it in a single layer on a cookie sheet or jelly roll sheet and put it in the oven.

350 degrees for about 15-20 minutes until it is to your desired doneness. (btw, is doneness a word??)

Next you’ll want to locate the Mayo or in our house, hubby’s more into the Miracle Whip, and the cheese.  Oh and the lettuce and tomato, just sayin.

We didn’t have any tomatoes though, but Mayo your bread slices (both sides) and place lettuce on one side.

Top with cheese.  Now we used Jalapeno Cheese this time, but your favorite type works just fine!

And the bacon.  You can’t forget the bacon in a BLT minus the T plus Cheese sandwich 🙂

And there ya go!

Happy Monday!

  1. Never tried cooking bacon in the oven. Do you have to turn it over at all?

Jalapeno cheese sounds pretty good. Is it similar to pepper jack?

And I'd have to put a bunch of onions on too 🙂

  2. That's how they did bacon in the military. Lots of mouths to feed and they definitely did bunches of bacon.

And I think doneness is a word when talking bacon talk. 😉

Will have to think about this. I don't normally like BLTs, but yours looks really good!

    Have a great day! 😀

  3. I've always wanted to try cooking bacon in the oven! My BLT's usually are on English muffins and are just bacon, lettuce, and mayo 😀
