Fried Pickles & Onion Rings

Once upon a time, a husband decided to make Fried Pickles for Sunday Night Dinner. He asked his wife for a recipe to make fried pickles. The wife didn’t know one so she googled it. Came up with 2 different recipes for fried pickles. They decided upon a recipe to use. The wife walked out of the kitchen and the husband didn’t read the directions, so they made up their own recipes as they went. And wound up with 3. Then end.

Onion Ring/Pickle Batter (dry)
1 Cup Flour
1/2 tbsp Kosher Salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp Season salt

Onion Ring/Pickle Beer Batter (Wet/Beer)
about 4 cups flour
1 16oz can beer
1 tbsp season salt
tsp black pepper
tbsp Zio’s seasoning
tsp garlic powder

Onion Ring/Pickle Batter (Wet/Buttermilk)
2 Cups Buttermilk
2 Cups Flour
1 Tbsp Kosher Salt
1/2 Tsp Black pepper
1/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper
2 tsp Season Salt

Drain your pickles out of juice (or slice if you’re using fresh). Slice your onions into circles/rings.

Depending on which batter you use, you douse your pickles or onion rings in the mixture and pop them into a deep fryer (or a pan on a stove with oil). Cook until they are golden brown and enjoy!

Drain the pickles

Letting the Onion Rings bathe in goodness.

For the dry method, a baggie is helpful. Put them in, shake around, pull out, and deep fry.

Don’t touch the oil, it’s hot 🙂

This was the first batter. The dry batter doesn’t coat them as much, the wet batter does.

This was the beer batter I think.

The buttermilk batter.

More yummy goodness.

I really don’t know which batter I liked better. They were all pretty darn good.
