Frrrozen Hot Chocolate

Here is this weekend’s forecast…

Can I order some rain?  We’re burning up here people!  I don’t mind the heat, I’d just like a little rain to add to our heat!

So you remember that movie Serendipity?

And that Frozen Hot Chocolate they ate in the movie.

Yeah when I went to NYC back in 2005, one of my goals was to go there and try one.  OMG, it’s huge and to die for!

Then a couple of years ago I ran across a cookbook that had the recipe in it.

Thank goodness… because living in SW MO it isn’t quite a hop skip and a jump away just to get one!

Frrrozen Hot Chocolate

6 half-ounce pieces of a variety of your favorite Chocolates
2 tsp store-bought hot chocolate mix
1 1/2 Tbsp sugar
1 1/2 cups milk
3 cups Ice
Whipped Cream
Chocolate Shavings

Chop the chocolate into small pieces and place it in the top of a double boiler over simmering water, stirring occasionally until melted.

Add the hot chocolate mix and sugar, stirring constantly until thoroughly blended.

Remove from heat and slowly add 1/2 cup of the milk and stir until smooth.

Cool to room temperature.

In a blender place the remaining cup of milk, (here’s where I’ll bet that Raw Milk would make it extra yummy!)

the room temperature chocolate mixture,

and ice.

Blend on high speed until smooth and the consistency of a frozen daiquiri.

Pour into a giant goblet

and top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.

Enjoy with a spoon or a straw –or both!

  1. I remember that movie – my fave is One Fine Day where Michelle Pheiffer goes in there & then loses George Clooney's daughter?? I'm a sucker for that movie. They never show you the 2hr wait for an ice-cream store though. LOL

Friends & I used to go there in HS (when we were skinny LOL) They also have a peanut butter froz. chocolate and the best is this dessert with rich clotted cream, strawberries and chocolate. Your brains will fall out it's so good. You should Def. check out if the recipe's in there. Soooo good! 🙂
