Tornado Warning

We have heartache and devastation in my area today.  I haven’t even seen all the devastation that has gone through because the storm has only just left our area within the last couple of hours and sometimes it’s just best to let professionals do their work without people getting in the way.

I haven’t heard the exact severity but we’ve heard anywhere from an F3-F4 tornado hit Joplin tonight.  I live about 30 minutes from there and it was headed in our direction.  Apparently, the West side of town got hit bad but the tornado picked up speed as it headed toward the east end of town.  Once it left town they say it lost some of the speed/power.

Here are some photos that I’ve found on Facebook.

The Storm coming

Joplin High School

Joplin Wal-Mart at 15th and Rangeline

This is at I-44 and 71 at the 249 bypass.  Flying J is in this area.

So far the count is 24 dead.  No idea if that is official or even completely finished.

There are video’s on YouTube, on our local stations there is coverage (fourstateshomepage.com, weatherchannel.com, fox14tv.com)

My {step}daughter is fine!  My mother-in-law works at one of the hospitals, and she is fine.  The other hospital in the area (just around the corner) is completely destroyed.  They said it was like an atomic bomb going off.  Range Line which is one of the major roads in town with most of the businesses/restaurants is almost completely destroyed.

I have goosebumps and chills and am in tears typing this.  These tornadoes seem to be getting closer and closer to home and it’s so scary!

I wish I could find more photos and as I do find more photos I’ll be sure to share them with you.  Please keep these people and our area in your prayers!

    Take Two

Holy Cow! I just walked in from outside and it’s freezing cold out there. Okay maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration because I just looked at weather.com and it said that it is 40, but that doesn’t factor in that wind and that’s what is excessively cold this morning. Okay, so it’s 40˚ this…
