Hubby gets to travel

So a while back hubby had to make a trip for work. They sent him to Allen, Texas. I really meant to blog about this like 2 months ago because let’s be honest, I like to blog :)… but I kind of didn’t. So I saw this sitting waiting to be blogged and I decided now was as good of time as any, otherwise it might be like next year before I get to it. That would be horrible! So with his help, here’s his work trip to Allen, Texas.

This was actually within that span of going to Kansas City for Service Tech training in Scuba Diving and a trip to Chicago. I’m pretty sure my wife felt like she was a single parent for about a month. Sorry hunny, I love you!

So work put us up in the Homewood Inn & Suites in Allen Texas. We got in later in the evening and didn’t spend a whole lot of time at the hotel. But the bed was nice and the room was nice too. Definitely a good stay.

10 Reasons I like to visit Ft. Worth

In no particular order, here are my reasons for visiting Ft. Worth!

1. The Stockyards, duh! I absolutely LOVE the Stockyards. It’s part of history but it also just fun. Great shopping too! Usually, I buy a purse and a belt here, but this year I have a new purse/camera bag (LOVE) and my mom gave me a belt just before we left, so we were on the hunt for Christmas presents for Tbug.

Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen – Ft. Worth, TX

Normally when we go to Ft. Worth we eat Mexican food pretty much for every meal… or at least TexMex. I mean you’re in Texas after all, right? This year was different though… I mentioned that we always eat at the same places when we’re down there so my mom made it a point for us to eat at different places.

The last night we were there after the finals were over, we were trying to figure out where to go have dinner when it was suggested to go to Pappadeaux. Now there’s a couple, but we wound up at the seafood kitchen. Not being a huge fan of seafood I told them no problem, I’d find something to eat which I did.

We entered the restaurant and they seated us. Said it had been a crazy night. When the waitress got to our table and we asked how she was (after she asked us of course) she told us not very good she’d been lied to. Then the service wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t outstanding either. I have a feeling she was told she could go home and then they seated someone at her table? But I’m just guessing.

Macaroni Grill – Ft. Worth Texas

So a restaurant in Ft. Worth that is very near and dear to my heart is Macaroni Grill. Why you may ask, especially because it’s a chain restaurant, Well… when I was younger, in fact, the first year I showed at the AQHYA World Show we ate here. I absolutely LOVE Italian food. This restaurant is on University Drive just down from the Will Rogers Coliseum.  Perfect in my opinion :).

When we got there they brought water to the table for everyone. We hadn’t had anything to drink for a while so we all gobbled up the water but look how cute their water jugs are they left on the table. (more…)

Hilton Garden Inn, Ft. Worth TX

Wow, am I coming or am I going? I’m not really sure! btw, did you know this is the last consecutive date we’ll see in our lifetime? 12-13-14. Interesting thought for the day.

So I’m in Ft. Worth, TX this weekend. Hey, I love this town! We’re down here for the 2014 NCHA Futurity. So I thought I’d give you a quick peek at the hotel we’re staying at… the Hilton Garden Inn over on Rosedale. I’m not sure the Rosedale part is necessary, it’s just that’s how I know how to get here.

I had to snag an image from here because I forgot the outside of the hotel. My arms were usually full…

Ft. Worth Trip in a Nutshell

Oh Ft. Worth how I miss thee!  So Wednesday December 11th, my family loaded up and headed to Ft. Worth.  I think that Bella knew that something was up because all morning long she kept staring at me and giving me the evil eye.  She stayed home while we were gone and my Mother in law came over to check up on her.

There was snow on the ground and hubby had been outside.  When he came in he didn’t want to walk on the heels of his jeans and get his socks wet so I walked in and saw this.  Cracked me up.

When we were getting ready to leave I asked him if he had drawn the curtains.  Now we were waiting on the UPS man to show up so when he asked for a piece of paper and pen, I thought he was going to write the UPS man a note and instead, he “drew the curtains”…. yuck yuck yuck.

Ol’ South – Ft. Worth

One place that is near and dear to our hearts is Ol’ South Pancake House.  One good thing is they are open 24 hrs, however don’t plan on walking in and immediately getting a seat at 2am, because it probably won’t happen.

Now generally we’re there on weekends (Texas) so possibly it’s easier to walk in and get a seat on a week day, I don’t know.

One of my aunts lives down around Ft. Worth so we called her and she and a friend decided to come meet us for breakfast before we headed home last weekend.

Uncle Julio’s – Ft. Worth

One place that we like to eat at in Ft. Worth is Uncle Julio’s.  I have no idea how my parents found it but it sure is good!  We try to make it there at least once on our trips down there… key word: at least once.  Maybe that’s more like a key phrase.

Their chips are made fresh, I know this because you watch them make them as you walk through the door.  Hubby says this is some of the best salsa he’s had.  Fairly certain they use fire roasted tomatoes because you can taste a bit of a smokey flavor in the background.

Pei Wei Asian Diner – Ft. Worth TX

On Saturday of last weekend my aunt and uncle asked if we wanted to meet up for lunch.  When we said sure they gave us two choices and we ended up at Pei Wei Asian Diner.

I have actually eaten here one time prior with my aunt, my mom didn’t remember that though, but I got the same thing both times.  Now Pei Wei is owned by the same people who own PF Changs, it’s just the “fast food” version I guess you could say.

When you walk in, you’re greeted with their menu on screens 🙂  How very modern of them :).
