Slice Bell Pepper and Avoid Seeds

A couple of weeks ago I told you how to freeze bell peppers.  After that post, I remembered reading Stef’s post on how to slice them without seeds and thought y’all might like to see that.  Now I very easily could have done it myself, however, I thought she already has the pictures and a post about it, I think it’s time for a guest post! :).  So I asked her if she’d be interested and she graciously said yes.  So take it away Stef

Hi! My name is Stef and I’m visiting from TooMuchToDoSoLittleTime.com.  I am so honored to be asked to write guest posts for Nicole.
I shared this post on my blog back in September 2010. When Nicole posted her Freezing Bell Peppers post she thought it might be good to show you another way to slice peppers, but this time avoiding the seeds.
Do you ever get frustrated with bell pepper seeds when you’re slicing and/or dicing a bell pepper?  Do you start by cutting in and around the stem and then dealing with the leftover seeds?  I used to.  But never fear… there’s an easier way!

Before we begin, sharpen your knife.  It is very important to always start with a sharp knife.
First cut off the stem.
Next, stand the pepper on its top.
Now take your knife and slice inside each lobe, around the seeds in the center.

Rotate pepper and continue slicing inside each lobe.

When you are finished, the center will remain with the seeds “contained”. (sometimes I carefully cut the little bit of flesh remaining around the stem area)
Toss the center into your compost pail and proceed with slicing and/or dicing. Be sure to slice and dice from the inside of the pepper and not from the outside.
Have you ever seen this method before?  If not, give it a try and come back and let me know how it goes.
Do you have a different method?

It’s super handy to have friends in the right places!  Thank you so much for sharing this post with us Stef!  And be sure to check her out while you’re at it.
