It's a Girl

Spread the love

No I’m not pregnant…. as far as I know…

No No NO…..

Ok first off, nothing to do with this post… the husbands surgery went very well yesterday!  His leg is swollen and ouchy but that’s to be expected.  He’s not allowed to drive for 24 hours so he has a lovely Chauffeur 🙂 LOL.

What’s funny is I don’t think people in my office realized I was gone… one co-worker sent me a lunch invite, he sits diagonal from my desk…. another one after lunch sent me an email to do something for her… oh well what can I do… I guess I’ll handle stuff today 🙂

So anyway back to the story…. My husband I swear swims in the estrogen ocean.

Me, daughter, female puppy, mare (female horse), ewes (female sheep), cows (female beef animal), and this is what we have.  I have 1 ram that we breed the Ewes to, but my cows go on my dad’s bull… And now… we’ve added another female to the mix.

Last week at work I got an email from a friend containing a photo of puppies.  Of course I sent them on to my husband because I LOVE puppies!  The email said they were Boxer/Lab Mix puppies

So we oogled and googled (ha) over them and nothing more was said.

The later in the week I got a second email of this cutie.

Yes I was always the kid who conned mom & dad into giving a dog a home until we found it another home if we couldn’t keep it.  LOL.  I have always loved dogs.  Yup, you guessed it I forwarded this on to Prince Charming too.   Of course he never responded about this pup because in the mean time I sent him yet another email (2 in one day) of this cutie patootie…

Isn’t she so sweet?  Her name is Oakley (the email actually said it) and she is 10 weeks old they guess.  She is part Great Dane mix.  Well the husband and I started emailing back and forth about her.

PC: This one is cute 🙁 !!!!!!!!!!!!!
          Me: I know!
          PC: Where is she?
Me: No idea.  Faith just sent this to me.

So I emailed Faith back and she told me where.  Well in the meantime the husband emails the place where Oakley is just to see what it would take to adopt her.  They sent a questionnaire and hubs forwards it on to me.  I read through all the questions and figured, yeah, they wouldn’t pick us….

1. Describe the kind of pet you’d like to have?
2. Would this be your first pet?
3. What other pets have you had in the past?
4. What pets do you have now?
5. Are they spayed or neutered
6. Are they current on vaccinations?
7. What happened to the pets you no longer have?
8. Have you ever turned a pet over to a shelter? If yes, please explain.
9. Have you ever had a pet euthanized? If yes, please explain.
10. If you have other pets, how will they adjust to the new addition?
11. How many adults in your household?
12. How many children in your household? Ages of each child?
13. Is an adult home during the day?
14. Does anyone in your household have allergies to do/cat dander?
15. How many hours a day will the pet be alone?
16. Do you rent or own your home?
17. If you rent, owner’s name and phone number:
18. Is your back yard completely fenced?
19. Would your pets spend any time in a garage?
20. Do you have a pool?
21. If your new pet is not house trained, what method would you use for training?
22. Your veterinarian’s name, address and phone number:
23. What arrangements would you make for your pet if you have to be away for any reason?
24. May we visit your home?
25. Are you ready to take full responsibility for this pet for the next 10 to 15 years?
26. Do you have resources to cover veterinary costs should your pet require treatment?
27. Why do you want this dog/cat?
28. Do you anticipate a move and will you take your pet with you?

Well unknown to me, PC fills out the questionnaire and sends it back in and guess what, They liked us!!  So we went for a “Meet & Greet” on Wednesday night and Miss Oakley came home to join our family.

poor quality photo, Oakley wouldn’t hold still and taken with the iPhone

She and Audrey get along GREAT!  Although at 10 weeks old she’s bigger than Audrey who is 9 months old… but it’ll make for a fun pair.  They are both puppies and they LOVE to play!  So now my husband has one more female to be around.

Think it was his goal in life to be surrounded by women? 😉

  1. So funny that you needed to explain whate ewes and mares, etc., were to city folks. (Being a farm girl, I see the humor. Probably not funny to real people.) Cute Oakley.

  2. If I had to fill out a questionnaire, I don't think I would; but congratulations on your new addition! 🙂

  3. Oh my gosh, Oakley is precious!! I love her name, too!! How absolutely exciting…I love new puppies!!
