The One Where I'm Not a Fashion Blogger

So have you ever wondered why I’m not a fashion blogger?

Exhibit A:

Lately this has been my go-to outfit.  Jeans (in this case some Old Navy pair I found in the closet), a Tshirt I bought in Hawaii (they were like 10 for $20 or something), My bling belt I bought in Branson down on the landing, my belt buckle I won showing horses and my boots that I bought the first year we were married.

Who would want to dress like me?

And then the posing.  Oh the posing.  Someone, please come give me a fashion make-over (but don’t do anything with my belt/buckle!! or boots) and someone please teach me how to pose!

So this weekends plans are to bale hay.  Fun, right?  We’re doing square bales which means I have to get my muscles on!  I went and ran on the treadmill Wednesday at the Y in town and actually enjoyed it.  Holy cow, someone slap me because I really think I’m dreaming.  Must be that runners high or something you hear so much about.

So anyway I’m out!  Have a wonderful weekend!  What are your plans??

Tbug Farm Girl Style

Not to long after I started dating my husband, I was riding down the road with Tbug and she had on boots and jeans while I was wearing tennis shoes and who knows what, knowing me jeans but I can’t guarantee that.

So we were driving down the road and she said to me, “I’m a cowgirl.”
I said, “oh yeah?  How so?”
She said, “Because, I’m wearing my boots and jeans, that makes me a cowgirl.”
I just about cracked up laughing at her but that statement has stuck with me now for a little over 3 years.  So without further ado, Tbug – Cowgirl Style!

What I Wore

Today is Friday.  Friday’s I don’t have to dress up for work.  So while I’m sitting here in jeans, I’ve really been wanting to do another What I wore post, but just never seem to work it in, so…. Today is your lucky day. ha!

The What I Wore, the Business Work edition.

And yes, I felt a little bit awkward! 🙂

Even Marlie wanted in a shot.  Truthfully, any photo outside one of both of my girlfriends (my dogs, that is) think they just have to be in it.  Usually hubby is keeping them back but Marlie got her 2 seconds of fame :).  Haha.

She looks kind of funny in that photo too, she’s getting ready to lay down to get her belly rubbed, or at least try ;).  Ok, ok I confess, she got a belly rub, then I had to jump in my car and zoom away to work.

Have a fabulous weekend and hopefully maybe next week I’ll have some of my 1208 photos weeded out from the PBR we went to last weekend to share.  or maybe not… who knows 🙂

These Boots Were Made for Walking

Let me state for the record, I am not a fashionista.  Some days I see outfit posts by people and think, boy I wish I could do that or dress like that or whatever, but a lot of times, that just isn’t me.

So I thought I would show you my Cowgirl style because that’s the way I roll.

Trust me, if I could get by wearing jeans every day, I would.  That’s just how it is.  I like getting all “gussied” up and looking pretty and wearing fancy party dresses, etc, but when it comes down to it… I’m all about the boots and jeans.

Dressing for the Job You Want…

Have you ever met a person who was EXTREMELY book smart but sometimes lacked in common sense?

**via**
This is who I think of, and yes I love Sheldon Cooper 🙂

Don’t tell anyone, but I’ve had 2 friends that way.  Sometimes their quirks are down right hilarious!  Sometimes they just floor me even.

And maybe that has nothing to do with the blog title post or what I’m thinking, but I couldn’t help but kind of go there too…..

So I was watching a recorded episode of Rachael Ray (yes I know a bunch of you don’t like her…. but hear me out) the other morning while I was getting dressed for work and she has a team she’s put together for this season.  It consists of Jo Frost of Super Nanny (b/c she doesn’t have kids), The Cake Boss (b/c she doesn’t bake), and then there is Zanna Roberts Rassi who is a fashion expert.

The episode I was watching the other day featured Zanna and they were doing a make-over on interns and one of the comments made was, “Don’t dress for the Job you have, dress for the Job you Want.”

**via**

Now I’m smart enough to know where they’re coming from… and to an extent I agree with that statement… but let’s use my company for example, we have an in-house mail room.  They sort incoming & outgoing mail, deliver it to the different departments, do the Fedex/UPS thing, and make the run into town to pick up and drop off mail.

Now what if they really wanted to be in Accounting, a salesman, or better yet, the CEO of the company.

Our company has a business/business casual dress code.  It has gotten more lax in the 5 years I’ve worked here but depending on the department, you still have to wear a suit for some jobs.  Now accounting, they get by with the business to business casual side of dress.  The salesmen don’t even get to participate in Jeans Friday and the CEO, I usually see him in a suit every day.

Does that seem feasible for the mail room gals to wear heels and a dress to deliver mail?

**via**

How about the suit?  And if that is the job they want, well cool, but one of the gals wanted something more, but truthfully how do you dress for the job you want in that case?  Something I wondered :).

So then a co-worker and I were discussing this and of course we got carried away…  What if you work in a law office but your dream job is to be a Rodeo Clown… should you dress for the job?

**via**

I guess that’s where the whole common sense part falls into my train of thought.  Yeah I got there 🙂

Welcome to the inner workings of my brain… next up, one may never know… LOL 🙂

Happy Thursday!

Big News!!!

Do you notice something?

How about if I give you a bit of a clue?

Still not getting it?

Well try this:

Yes, my hair will now go in a ponytail!

That is all 🙂

(and how many of you thought I was gonna say I’m pregnant?  Well I’m not!!  I’m just excited about the ponytail finally!)

(oh and btw, I finally joined pinterest.  Look me up :))

The One Where I Show You What I Wore

Wow, I’ve never done this… and I can’t guarantee I’ll do this again… But I was feeling extra spunky I guess…

That and I didn’t think you wanted another recipe post, however right now, that’s one of the biggest things going on in my life it seems like and therefore, I have lots of recipe posts :).

Anyway if I could have it my way, I’d wear jeans every day, but at work, that isn’t an option.  You have to dress up 4 days a week… I could wear dress pants, but I hate wearing dress pants, I guess the winter does that to me, so in the summer I dress in dresses, skirts & Capri’s a lot.

Here’s one of my work outfits 🙂

So I can’t promise tomorrow you won’t get a recipe post :)…

I did something a little crazy last night………

So some may say I’ve lost my mind… Some may say “Hey That’s Cute!!”… some may say “What were you thinking?”… Some may say “Oh MY GOSH!”… some may ask if I’m Pregnant, let me state for the record, I’m not!

I’ve done this one other time, back in February of 2006.  I kind of got the same reaction as I am right now…  Everyone keeps doing a double take….

All I can tell you is I don’t choose the right time of year to do this.  I should do it in summer, not winter!

My neck is cold!!!

When I did this back in February of 2006 I claimed I was having a pre-life crisis.  At that time I was doing my student teaching and constantly getting mistaken for a high school student instead of a final semester college student.  Once I did this… that changed!!

My poor timing there was I did it 2 months before my friend’s wedding… I told her if she did this to me before mine, I wouldn’t be mad, but she didn’t.

I’m not going to blame this on a pre-life crisis but I’m not sure what I’ll blame it on… Oh wait, I know I’ll blame it on the fact I wanted to cross more items off my 101 in 1001 list!  In one foul swoop I crossed off 3 items!!  Go me!  It makes me feel good to know that I’m getting things accomplished!!!  Now if I can keep from having a panic attack, we’ll be fine.

I still don’t have a clue what I think either!

I chopped my hair last night, donating it to Locks of Love.  The first time I did this, I swore I’d never do it again… but here I am… I put it on my list and I did it again…  It’s just such a great cause… I couldn’t help myself.

Here is the before shot…

Seems like a lot of brides do the Post Wedding Chop, I’m not even going to say that’s what I did it for, however it is post wedding… just over 3 months to be exact so I think that is still the time frame… but I really just did this because I knew it was for a good cause.  The Post Wedding Chop I could have just taken a few inches and been done with it…  But this is a required 10 inches.  They’ll take shorter, but they can’t make wigs out of that, instead they sell it to help raise proceeds to offset the making of the wigs for cancer patients.

Here I am trying not to panic…

I swear, it takes a lot to keep the nerve up!  Especially b/c I’ve had longer hair for more time than not.  I only had short hair long enough for it to grow out the last time…

To donate it, they have to tie it up with a ponytail/rubber band or else I read it could be braided as well.  They won’t accept dreds though… good thing I don’t have those!

And the cut.  Bye Bye pretty, long hair… I’ll miss you!  Wow look how friggin dark the underneath side of my hair that doesn’t see sun at all is!  Wow and when I was a little kid I was blond!

10 inches, gone!
Um… can we just glue it back on now, I change my mind!

Doing the final cuts

There is the pile of hair that I get to donate.

I’m still trying very hard not to freak out at this point!  I haven’t had this short of hair since Feb of 2006.

She didn’t cut the top layer, it was to short anyway… But they laughed b/c all I could think was, OMG my neck is going to be so cold… Note to self, If you ever do this again, do it in May….

The picture quality here is horrid b/c I took them with my husbands phone…
but here is the end result

And here’s the back… (wow I look like a linebacker or something… LOL)

I’m not sure what I think!  But I’ve wiped 3 items off my 101 list…
6) Donate hair to Locks of Love (again)
9) Find a new hairdresser I like… I’ve been working on this for a while.  Paula is GREAT!  and she promised me she wouldn’t become a nurse and she isn’t planning on moving any time soon either.**
31) Try a drastic new hairstyle… Yeah so I would say this definitely qualifies!

So until next time… Here’s lookin at you kid (name that movie)

Peace, Love & New Hairs!!

Nicole

**Seems like every time I find a hair dresser I like, they become a nurse or move and I’m stuck looking for a new one… Let’s hope 🙂  But maybe since the hubs found her, my curse will be broke!  (The first time I went to Paula was for my wedding and I haven’t looked back since!)

Let's Get This Show On The Road!!

So I’ve FINALLY gotten more photos from our photographer.  This wedding recap has been so long and drawn out… but we’re getting there!  Yey!

So Warning, this post is PHOTO HEAVY.  Sorry.  There are 28 photos.  I thought about breaking it up into two posts but I decided against it in the end.  Hope you enjoy!

The wedding was at 11am.  It’s a long story as to how we got that time, but hey it all worked out.  The bad part was, we were at the hair studio (Works of Art) getting our hair fixed at 7am.  I usually am not awake and coherent until about 10am, ask my co-worker’s who talk to me at 8am 🙂

I’m not sure if you can tell or not, but I have a ton of hair.  And you remember how we made it really blonde??  The day of the wedding the underneath dark side mixed in with the blonde and it didn’t look so blonde, Score!

I didn’t have a hair trial.  Paula had me bring in a few shots for my hair and the girls hair and said we’ll see you Saturday.

I really like the side ponytails so that’s how I had them do April & Evelyn’s hair.

See, I look awake huh?

They were laughing at me because supposedly I was the calmest bride they’d ever seen.  I was content with my Cherry Coke and my iPhone if I wasn’t talking.

Not only does Evelyn have a bunch of hair but it’s super long too!

The lady who did my make-up also worked on Evelyn’s hair (my lady also worked on Evelyn’s hair).  It was a trade off 🙂

See, NOT Wowzer’s Blonde! 🙂

No idea what I was looking at.

My friend Aerielle did Tbug’s hair for us.

Now this is where I thought about breaking it into a second post… but figured, what the heck… I’m known for picture heavy posts anyway… why not 🙂

Here is my dress.  This shot does absolutely NOTHING for it.

And I like bling!  This had enough to satisfy me but I didn’t look outrageously over-done either!

My mom made my garter’s for me (keep and toss).  The keep one was extremely heavy and I swore by the end of the day it’d be around my ankle but it never fell.  They were both gorgeous.  And my pretty blue shoes 🙂

Evelyn made matching garter’s for all of us to wear and she gave me mine on the cute sheep.  Our photographer actually used my dress as the backdrop… notice??

And I joined in on the “I Do” on the bottom of my shoes.

More dress detail.

I’m not sure if our photographer thought we’d tied our rings to the pillow or what, but there are no shots of our actual rings :(.  These rings on the pillow aren’t real.  PC’s mom went to an auction and got a crapton (yup my word again) of jewelry and she let me have these rings.  That way we didn’t have to worry about our rings getting lost.  However we didn’t get any shots of our rings 🙁

So once we got to the church I put on my undergarments (or as I called it, the tummy sucker inner thingy).  But I was in one room and my dress was in another so I put my shorts and shirt back on so that I could go to the room my dress was in and my guests wouldn’t see me 🙂

This was my bouquet.  Through all the photos I’ve seen, this is one of the only photos of it 🙁

Then I got to strip down and get in my dress… woohooo 🙂

And they told me to hold it up so they could lace me in.  I love the placement of my hands… LOL  Evelyn was tucking the holding strings in… I love the look on her face.

The back of my dress.

Then it was time to put the shoes on.

The flower was a last minute addition and mom really thought it would just be for the reception but we just decided to place it in when we put the veil on.

I was actually supposed to take my veil and flower to the hair studio and forgot.  Remember I’m not real coherent at 6:20am…

This is kind of random… but here is our guest book.  We went with the signed photograph because the other would probably just collect dust on our shelf.

All photos taken by Greene Photography.

101 in 1001 – Shoes

My name’s Nicole and I’m a Shoe-a-holic!

Ah, I did it people! I cleaned out my shoes! They are all put away in the closet neatly except the pair on my feet and the few that are behind the main door at the house. I wish I would have taken a photo of the mess of shoes I had all over our bedroom floor that we tripped over for weeks. I’m slowly getting my house all put together… keyword… Slowly! But I can cross one more thing off my list! Woohoo! I’m doing good, right 🙂 If you are saying no, please don’t tell me 😉

Wow, I think I kept the boring shoes! Oh the top rack, the right side, those are the ones I’m wearing today in case you wondered 🙂

Here is the get rid of box. I got rid of a lot of shoes!

I’m slowly weeding my way through this list 🙂 wish me luck!

Peace, love & shoes!
