Good Eats!!!
So let’s start knocking the restaurants off the 101 in 1001 list…
1. Risky’s Steakhouse located in Old Ft. Worth at the Stockyards. OMG you want an excellent steak… definitely go show this place some Love!!!!! (November 26th, 2010)
2. Instant Karma Gourmet Hot Dogs located in Downtown Joplin, MO. Ok so I actually had plans that night so all I had were their cheese fries and a bite of the husband’s Hotdog. I really wasn’t impressed with either, but I may have to go back and try again, just for good measures. (February 12, 2011)
3. A&Q Chicken House located in Fayetteville, AR. They also have a location in Springdale, AR, but we were at the VA hospital for my husband and the one in Fayetteville is just down the road from the VA Hospital. You want good chicken, this is the place to get it! I had Chicken Quesadilla’s and my husband had a Chicken Sampler Platter that had pan fried, Over the coals & BBQ. The Over the Coals was the absolute best! Oh My Goodness! And then top that with their excellent rolls. You’ll think you died and went to Chicken Heaven! (February 15, 2011)
4. Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill located in Bricktown, Oklahoma City, OK. They have locations all over the country, this just happened to be the place that we stopped. The husband had catfish, which I tried a bite of… not so impressed but I don’t like fish. Then he got 2 sides which he chose their SW Creamed Corn and Fried Okra. YUM!!! I had the Chicken Sandwich, a grilled chicken breast, ham, bacon and cheese with a side of SW Creamed Corn. Yup, I’d definitely recommend going back there, or any one of their locations!! (March 27, 2011)
5. Santa Fe Cattle Co located in Ardmore, OK. I ordered the Santa Fe Chicken Torte (sandwich) and oh my goodness was it good, however, the thing that really caught my attention was the fries! Their fries, I’m not sure what good things I can say about them! Hubby of course had the fish but I didn’t actually try any of it this time. I think it was catfish but don’t quote me on that. Seems like most of their locations are in Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, Alabama & Tennessee. It’s definitely good IMO! (July 23, 2011)
6. Two Frogs Grill located in Ardmore, OK. Here I had to order Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo. I was in the mood for pasta. The chicken itself was so good that hubby couldn’t let me send 3 pieces back to the kitchen when I was done eating and talk about the Alfredo sauce on the Fettuccine. Super Yummy! The hubs again had fish and again I didn’t try any. My mom, hubs, aunt & uncle had green beans and they all raved about how good the green beans were. My uncle said this was the best place to get a good steak around so of course mom tried the steak. She said it was very good. Looks like if you want to try this place, you’ll just have to head out of OKC on I-35 toward Ardmore OK. It is right off the highway. Seems like the only place in the country… guess one will never know ;). (July 23, 2011)
7. Cousin’s Bar-b-que located at Terminal D in the DFW Airport (however they have many locations). I had the Pulled Pork sandwich and yummo!!! I can’t remember what hubs had, but mom, dad & grandma all liked what they got too. They have locations in and through out Texas, but also 2 in the DFW airport if that tells you how yummy they are! (September 3, 2011)
8. Duke’s located in Honolulu, HI on Waikiki Beach. I had the Mango BBQ Bacon Burger, and OH MY GOSH was it Yummy! The husband had Mango BBQ Baby Back Ribs which were excellent too. Duke’s is a must eat on the island, in fact if you call the concierge they’ll recommend Dukes. It is located in the bottom of our hotel, so you may think well of course they’ll recommend it, but even people we asked in other places, such as our Catamaran ride recommend Duke’s and it’s the happening place at night. (September 4, 2011)
9. Top of Waikiki located in Honolulu, HI. This place was ok. For the price of the food, the food was just OK, the best part of it is it is located in the top of a building and you spin around the city. It makes one full revolution ever hour. Reservations are required. I had the Hawaiian Vine Ripe Tomato Parmigiano for dinner. It was very tasty, but not something I would crave. Husband had the Chicken Panzanella which was much better, but still I would save my money, there are many other great restaurants to eat at, we just wanted something special since it was our anniversary night. (September 4, 2011)
10. Cheeseburger Land located on the Boardwalk in Waikiki, HI. I believe the whole party, except for hubby, went for the stuffed cheeseburger. Basically you get a list of items for which you can stuff the burger with and it is an inside out burger. I had Mozzarella cheese & Banana peppers. You got your choice of 2 stuffing’s and each additional stuffing was 50 cents. Hubby got the Aloha Fish & Fries. (September 6, 2011)
11. Bikini Catina located in Honolulu, HI. They had a spectacular view of the harbor. The restaurant/bar was open completely so no matter where you sat, you sat outside. This was a Mexican cuisine restaurant. My grandma ordered the Potato Boats (yup, real Mexican… LOL) and the rest of the table ordered Nachos. Dad ordered steak on his and husband ordered chicken on his, I got mine without beans. These were excellent nachos if I do say so myself. (September 7, 2011)
12. Senor Frogs located in Honolulu, HI. Now if you are looking for not only a good time, but dinner too, this is definitely the place to visit! When we first got there, while waiting on our order a guy came around making balloon hats for everyone; I got a flower and hubby got a monkey climbing a tree. Then they found out we were on our anniversary along with some other couples in the restaurant so they came around singing and we all got a shot of Blue Hawaiian. So hubby and I ordered one because it was yummy :). I ordered the Philly Steak Sandwich which was excellent! and hubby ordered the Grilled Mahi Mahi. I’m so not a fish fan but I made him a deal that if he ordered fish on this trip, I’d at least give it all a bite. (September 7, 2011)
13. Moose McGillycuddy’s located in Waikiki, HI. Now when I was a little kid my dad used to call me McGillycuddy. I’m not sure why, so when I saw this restaurant I knew we had to eat there. And let me tell you, it didn’t disappoint! We all (as in mom, dad, grandma (yup), hubby and I) had a Mai Tai. Now if you want the world’s best Mai Tai’s, go to Hawaii! I mean I’ve never had them anywhere else, but they sure were good everywhere we went in Hawaii! This particular one got the nickname Ninja. It kind of snuck up on you, FAST. For food, I went with the Kahlua Pig Plate. It didn’t disappoint at all! I had it narrowed down to 2 options and had the waitress pick the better for me :). Then hubby had Mahi Mahi. I’ll admit it wasn’t bad IMO but I’m still not sold on the whole fish thing. (September 8, 2011)
14. Round Table Pizza located in Honolulu, HI. This was an accidental stumble across… When our plane got sent back to Honolulu for technical difficulties, we stayed another night in Honolulu. American airlines doesn’t provide meals, but since we boarded the plane as late in the afternoon as we did, we didn’t really have time for dinner so we’d just snacked and then picked up snacks to make the 8 hour flight back to Dallas. But instead we stayed an extra night so at 11:30pm we ordered pizza. Besides, you can’t go to a new town and not eat pizza at least once ;). We had the Ulti-Meat and it was excellent! (September 8/9, 2011)
15. Bubba Gump Shrimp Company located in Honolulu, HI. Since we got to spend the extra night in Hawaii we got to eat lunch the next day before boarding our flight home. The hotel gave us $10/person vouchers for lunch and one of the options was Bubba Gump Shrimp Co so of course that’s where we went, especially since I’ve never been there before :). We started with Bubba’s Far Out Dip and it was amazing, in fact it didn’t last long at all. I had the Texas Cajun Chicken Sandwich and hubs had Bubba’s after the Storm Bucket of Boat Trash. Haha no it wasn’t trash, it was multiple types of seafood :). So get this, I had to try multiple types of fish in one sitting. Then we actually got dessert and ended with a Chocolate Chip Cookie Sunday shared by the table. Yes we pretty much ate our way through Hawaii. (September 9, 2011)
And there you have it folks, 15 new restaurants I’d never eaten at for my 101 list. It made me broaden my perspective 🙂 And again, nope, didn’t get any money for sending you to their links or telling you about their restaurants, although, I’d be more than happy to take even coupon’s off :)… hint hint 🙂
