Pensacola Beach: The Beach

I really think in my former life I lived on a coast, in a house right on the beach. Knowing me it would either be the Gulf or the Atlantic or maybe Hawaii. I can sure tell you though, when I came in to this life, I got rid of any ability to tan. Yeah okay anyway if you believe any of that, I’d believe the tanning part. I even have Greek in me and I don’t have that pretty olive complexion they get although what little tan I do achieve does give me a pretty, very light, olive complexion. Now I’m just babbling. I think it’s because I start school this week and I’m freaking out!!! Moving on!

The reason I was babbling above is I’m still talking about our trip to Pensacola Beach. Today though, we’re actually talking about the beach! Yey! The whole reason I wanted to go on this trip, to plant my butt in the sand and put my feet in the ocean. If you think I’m kidding, I’m not!

Pretty much the minute we checked in to the hotel, I jumped into my swimsuit and was headed to the ocean. I truthfully couldn’t wait. I guess that’s what happens when you live in a landlocked state that is 10+ hours from any ocean.

Pensacola Beach Eats: Landry’s Seafood

The last night we were at Pensacola Beach, my dad had to take off for Atlanta for his job for a meeting the next day. Earlier in the day we had gone deep sea fishing, when we came back, we showered, had lunch, and then hubby and I crawled into bed and slept for like 2-2 1/2 hours. The heat/sun took it out of us. Plus we were on vacation so naps are totally allowed.

Around 6 or so, I don’t know, I was asleep, my mom and aunt came into our room and tried waking us up for dinner. I opened my eyes when she yelled at me and asked if we wanted dinner. I muttered something semi coherently that sounded like I don’t know ask him and fell back asleep while kicking hubby to get his attention.

I did hear a conversation between my aunt and Tbug when my aunt asked how I slept through his snoring. Tbug answered she doesn’t, that’s why she kicks him. ha!

Anyway he said yes to dinner so we both drug our butts out of bed and down to the car. I know we didn’t, but we felt like we kind of exhausted our food options on Pensacola Beach so someone suggested Landry’s Seafood which was just over the bridge. We all thought that sounded good so plugged it into the GPS and away we went.

This happened to be our night for drinks apparently. When we were in Hawaii we all had Mai Tai’s and they were friggin awesome. I’m not much of a drinker, but I had some of those in Hawaii… During the planning of this trip, that’s all mom and hubby talked about. They had one at the hotel, but said it wasn’t nearly as good as the ones in Hawaii. So when they saw this on the window they decided to try one. Hubby said this was pretty darn close (PDC) to the ones we had in Hawaii. (more…)

Pensacola Beach Eats: Riptides Sports Grill

Hi, I need to be reading. But right now I think my brain is still on vacation mode, even though I got home around 10:30 pm on Tuesday evening by the time we got our luggage and Tbug taken to her mom’s house.

Today I’m going to share pictures of one of the restaurants we ate at while at Pensacola Beach. Please don’t judge these pictures as we all know I’m a photo snob (or so my husband tells me)! The lighting was HORRIBLE.

After traveling all day to Pensacola Beach Friday the 7th, we went and jumped in the pool and the ocean first thing. Around 7 pm we finally decided it was time to go upstairs and get ready for dinner.

Before our trip I asked Janna for recommendations on where to eat in Pensacola since that’s her stomping ground, plus I found a blogger who was talking about Pensacola Beach. Finally, we talked to the driver of our car company about where we should eat. The consensus was Peg Leg Pete’s. We discussed going there or Red Fish Blue Fish that night but decided we’d just eat in the hotel restaurant that night since we were right there, our rental car hadn’t been picked up yet, and mom and dad hadn’t arrived in Pensacola yet.

That meant we’d eat at Riptides Sports Grill. Note: This picture was taken during the day on Sunday versus the night we ate here… that’s why the lighting is good here!

Pensacola Beach: Papa’s Pizza & Parasail Key Sailing

When our trip to Pensacola Beach was planned, we had no plans. Our plans involved sitting our butt in the sand, maybe a drink, maybe not, eat yummy food, but the main goal was to RELAX to the MAX.

Luckily our hotel had a lazy river. Like I mentioned a bad storm blew in “yucky” ocean water between the jellyfish and the seaweed. Oy! So we spent our fair share of time in the lazy river.

One story that needs to be documented: Tbug is 12. She is a very cute 12-year-old at that. And I’ve learned I am the mother of a cute 12-year-old. There was some guy who swam up to her, asked her if her name was Brittany because she looked very familiar to him and then proceeded to spend the next couple hours going around the lazy river with our group. She hung out with her Memaw, dad, Abug and me the whole time she was in the water… and so did this boy. ha!

Pensacola Beach, Florida, TGI Friday’s at DFW, Our Trip down

I would like to say I know how it went down that we planned this trip to Pensacola Beach, but I really don’t. During last semester I kept claiming all I wanted to do was plant my ass in the sand and my feet in the water... pardon my language but last semester was challenging. And if I thought it was challenging, this semester will be even more so, but that’s besides the point. Truthfully I just tuned out and put my nose in the books. But a trip was planned to go to Florida to the beach and that’s all that matters!

Last Thursday night we went to Dive Club meeting; afterwards it was time to pick Tbug up from Cheer. My MIL came to my house to stay the night because, while I joke that I didn’t know 5am existed, we actually had to wake up around 4am to get ready and head to the airport. Sad thing is we didn’t get to sleep until almost 11pm Thursday night or later so dang, 4am came early!

Squirrel girl woke up with daddy’s alarm, she usually wakes up in a happy mood with a smile on her face, which she did this morning but she really didn’t want to wake up either. In fact it took a little convincing to get her to let us dress her.

Our flight left for DFW at 6:40 in the morning, then we had a 5 hour layover before getting to board for Pensacola International Airport.

Pensacola Beach: Holiday Inn Resort

Oh hi, I’m home from vacation. Oh… you didn’t know I was on vacation? Well, I may have kind of omitted that. I didn’t want someone to break into my house while I was gone…. haha! Yeah, we’ll go with that. Or maybe I was a little worried to wish my summer away to get to vacation because that means I’m just days away from school starting and I’m really worried about that, to be honest with you! Either way, whatever, I’m home!

I only took a little over 500 photos in 5 days. That’s a little over 100/day on average. Definitely less than the 2,500 photos we took in Hawaii, but as I continue to weed through the photos… I’ll leave you with the hotel we stayed at while on vacation.

When our plane arrived we had a car service waiting for us to pick us up and take us to the hotel. My parents were on a different flight and they had to pick up the rental car, the rental car company wouldn’t allow us to, so that’s when hubby and my mom found this company and had a service waiting to pick us up. I would recommend if you need a ride from the airport via car service to use Pensacola Airport Shuttle.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Resort. It was great.

Our room was on the 8th floor. There were 3 elevators so we rarely had to wait long for one. We were up high enough we had a pretty darn good view. And the hotel has 11 floors. Some rooms are Oceanside with balcony’s, the others are bayside with just a normal window view. We were bayside. Hey, we weren’t in our room all that much! (more…)
