Liebster Award – Say What??

Spread the love

So last week I got a surprise, Jilly gave me an award!  Thanks, Jill!  So glad your post told us what Liebster stands for though!  I’ve seen it around bloggy land for what seems like ages and had no clue!

What Is The Liebster Award?
“Liebster” is German for “dearest”, from Liebe, the verb ‘to love’. This award is given to bloggers who are up and coming and who have less than 200 followers.  I’m honored that she chose me and I’m excited to join in the Liebster fun!

Here’s How It Works:

  1. Each person must post 11 random things about themselves.
  2. Answer the questions that the tagger set for you and create 11 questions for bloggers you’ve tagged.
  3. Choose up to 11 bloggers and link them in your post.
  4. Go to their page and tell them.
  5. No-tag backs.

11 Randoms – Hmmmm

  1. My hair has 3 textures.  From my ears forward it is kinky curly, from my ears back (top layer) is wavy and the bottom side is straight.
  2. My husband can’t decide what color my eyes are because they aren’t brown, but they aren’t green so he calls them either breen or grouwn
  3. Sadly enough, I haven’t met a swimsuit top that I haven’t fallen out of at least once.  When someone catches you, you just have to smile, fix yourself, and laugh!
  4.  I pretty much refused to ever wear a ring on my left ring finger until I got engaged.  Then when my grandmother passed away they gave me her ring to hold until my mom got home (work trip to China we busted our butts to get her home) and then I was to give it to her.  The only finger that ring would fit was my left ring finger.  Now it sits on there permanently (my mother gave my grandma’s ring to my husband for me when he proposed/we were married)
  5. My left ear and my right ear don’t look alike.
  6. When it is 110 degrees in the shade, my knees can still feel like you pulled them out of a freezer.  When they get that bad they throb and hurt like crazy!  Imagine what it is like in the winter.
  7. I really can’t see diddly squat without my glasses/contacts but when I was early teens I picked a lock on our horse trailer with nothing but the light from the taillights.  (no glasses on, that’s why the miracle)
  8. I can write my name upside down and backward with my left hand and it’s legible.  I’m a righty.
  9. I am not now nor have I ever been a morning person.
  10. I have 2 moles or freckles, whatever you want to call them, on the palm of my left hand.  I didn’t think you could get things like that on the palms of your hand.
  11. I can stick both of my big toes straight in the air perpendicular to the floor while the rest of my foot is parallel to the floor.  Then I can proceed to walk that way.

Now Jill’s Questions.

  1. If you could have a conversation with anyone, living or dead, who would you choose and why?  This is such a loaded question.  I might choose Abraham Lincoln or George Washington or heck Adolf Hitler and ask him what was up with that… but really, I’d love to have a conversation with my great-grandma.  She sounded like a fascinating woman.  She ran the farm while my great-grandpa had a Maytag dealership.  If she had a question and you were walking down the street and looked like you might know, she’d stop you and ask you.  She adopted my grandpa when she was 50 (he was 6).  I dunno, she just seems like such a fascinating person!
  2. How did you come up with the name of your blog? Um… well it started as Nicole J because when I started my blog I didn’t know what a blog was.  Then it went to That’s Life.  That seemed a little derogatory so my husband (boyfriend at the time) always answered the phone, “Life’s a Beach, Wish I was on one.” and so it became.  However, I’m not real crazy about it and think I want to change it… what do you think??  I’d take suggestions!
  3. What is your dream vacation destination?  Can I sail around the world stopping at all the countries along the way?  I want to hit the Straights of Magellan, I want to come back and hit the Panama Canal, I want to go up in the Arctic waters, the Indian Ocean.  Sail around Australia & New Zealand.  Somehow get to the dead sea, although I’m not sure you can sail there, whatever, my dream vacation would be to travel the world and see all that it has to offer!  Currently, my passport only has one stamp.  It needs MANY more!
  4. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?  (Did you end up where you thought you would?)  Truthfully I wanted to be one of about 3 things.  I wanted to be a ballerina on Broadway.  I wanted to be a veterinarian.  And I wanted to be a school teacher.  I guess technically my college degree kind of ties 2 of my dream jobs together since I have an Agriculture Education degree, however, I am not an Ag teacher, although maybe I should be!
  5. Put your iTunes, iPod, or whatever on shuffle…what’s the first song that comes up?  It came up with the Grey’s Anatomy Cast singing Chasing Cars
  6. What is your all-time favorite book?  Can it be one I reference a lot….. Horrible Terrible No Good Very Bad Day {Ok I know that’s not the exact title, I can’t remember it….}
  7. If you could buy anything right now, what would you buy?  (Cost is irrelevant.)  A Canon EOS Mark 5 II with an 18-55mm lens, a 50mm F1.8 lens and a nice telephoto lens oh 70-300, and then a 17-124mm lens for an all-around lens :)!  And that so counts as one purchase!
  8. What are you craving right…now? A Nestle Crunch Candy Bar.  I know bad right!
  9. What is your absolute favorite song lyric? Kenny Chesney, “I lost it”

I had a hundred dollar ring in my hand
So weak and tired i could barely stand
From being up all night, prayin` she`d say yes
So with a hopeful heart i hit one knee
With a tear in her eye she looked at me
It was the moment of truth, i was scared to death
My life hung on what that tear meant
    Then she smiled at me
    And I lost it

  10. I told you about my dream car…now you tell me about yours, OK?  Oh, gee!  Well if we go Muscle Cars I want a 1969 GTO Judge.  I’m not as particular if it is the Green color or the orange.  But if we’re going current, well then my heart lies with a 2013 (hey I can dream right) F-350 4×4 King Ranch Diesel.
  11. Beach, pool, or not a fan of the water? Ok so weird question, do I have to worry about my hair? ha!  I hate fixing my hair!  Anyway, I love the water!  It’s not the nicest friend of my hair… but I love the water!  So bring it on.  Beach, waves, chlorine, pools, love it all!

Now for my questions:

  1. Who is one person {dead} you’d like to have a conversation with?
  2. Who is one person {alive} you’d like to have a conversation with?
  3. What is your favorite room in the house and why?
  4. If you were to appear on America’s Got Talent, what would your talent be?
  5. If you grew up on a farm, could you make it in the city?  If you grew up in the city, do you think you could make it in the middle of nowhere (aka on a farm possibly)?
  6. What is your favorite Zoo Animal?
  7. (I like Jill’s question) What did you want to be as a little kid when you grew up?  Did you accomplish that goal or go in a different direction?
  8. Are you up and at it with the roosters or a night owl (early morning or late night person)?
  9. What is the most random thing you saw on your drive to work this morning?
  10. If you could claim credit for one invention we have nowadays, what would you want your name on?
  11. Which came first, the Chicken or the Egg?

Ok and the lovely people I’m going to award this award to are (and I didn’t pay attn to the follower’s thing):

Also sharing this with those cooky, crazy, lovely gals!!  Shawn & Impulsive Addict

  1. Thanks for playing along, Nicole! Loved your answers to the questions! That's funny that your iPod came up with the Grey's cast singing Chasing Cars – one of my faves!

Also, love your song lyric…so sweet! 🙂

  2. My eyes are the same way! Eric calls them “Emmy colored eyes” 🙂 That is weird about your toes and your knees :). I have been trying to raise my toe like that and it barely goes up.

And it is Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day. I love that book 🙂

  3. The water freaks my hair out too. But I'm all in!! And I would love to trip around the world. We'd better start buying those lottery tickets!!

  4. Find your blog through the talk to us tuesday link up 🙂

Feel the exact same way about the pool and beach- love them both but don't like what they do to my hair. Can't be that bad though, I got married on the beach 🙂

    New follower!

  5. Congratulations and thanks for extending it to me. I will do my best to work on it soon.

Thanks for linking up with us!

  6. I love reading these! It always gives you a more personal look into your blogging peeps! So your hair has 3 textures? That's awesome!

I'm soooo not a morning person. I totally feel you there.
