Eagle Drive-In. Must I say anymore? I think the pictures can do the talking for themselves!
This is the JoMo Po’ Boy. Calamari, Eagle Sauce, Tomato, and a whole bunch of other stuff. I obviously didn’t eat it, I don’t eat seafood. Mark though, he LOVED it. Oh and Eagle Sauce they say is similar to Thousand Island dressing, but better. This came with a side, fries were the obvious choice. Then there is the choice of sauce to go with the fries. That is Eagle Sauce.
This is the Black and bleu Burger. It was also thoroughly enjoyed. Now I don’t eat Bleu Cheese either, but my mom LOVED it. She went with a side of fries too. Her sauce of choice, Garlic Aioli.
Do you ever just wake up one morning and realize your day isn’t going as planned? When I woke up this morning I wanted to do something, I just wasn’t sure what. Today though was not what I planned.
My dad and husband planned on going and renting a bobcat. They planned on scraping the colts (horses) pen as well as the runs off the barn. Once that was done they were going to scrape out the back and put it more in a mound.
The more I thought about it that day the more I thought I wanted a garden so I started plotting and scheming where to put it and what to do. That’s when I decided to do a raised bed garden. I figured I needed landscaping timbers but my dad told me he already had some Cedar boards in the barn I could have so I decided that’s what I was going to use. While dad and hubby worked on scraping pens I went to working on finding boards, measuring boards, cutting boards, etc. Every so often I got help from them.
If you’ve been around me any time at all (and that includes reading this here bloggy) you’ll know I LOVE pictures. When I sat down to write this post I realized I screwed up and deleted all the pictures taken while sewing these blocks 10-12. So if that’s the case, how do I have pictures? Well the pictures I deleted were off my camera but I had a couple that I took on my iPhone so that I could send texts to my mom, mother in law, and husband to show our quilt blocks off. Those are the only pictures I have of this whole experience for blocks 10-12.
Last month my aunt who lives in Southern Oklahoma came up to see the girls so we decided to have a girls day. We debated where to go shopping… Fayetteville, Tulsa, Springfield… Decisions decisions. Eventually we decided upon Tulsa. I’ve spent a lot of time shopping in Tulsa, my aunt actually lived there while in Med school. The one down side to Tulsa is when it comes to food. No, there are a lot of restaurants in Tulsa, but we tend to stick to the same ol same ol restaurants. I was kind of in the mood for something new. Aunt Connie had recently been in Tulsa for a convention and learned about a few new places down around Utica Square. Since we were going to Utica Square first, it was perfect. Eventually we decided upon Andolini’s Pizzeria. Let’s just say, this was an AWESOME choice.
There are a lot of people who have jumped on the Gluten-Free bandwagon for different reasons. I personally don’t know much about it other than what little research I did once upon a time when a friend’s daughter had issues. They thought she needed to be gluten-free so I did a little research but not much and after they realized that wasn’t her problem and she could eat gluten, my research days on it went out the window. I think I’ve liked carrots since I was a little kid. My grandpa used to always say, “Have you ever seen a rabbit wearing glasses?” Sometimes I would respond no and other times I would respond yes. The yes would catch him off guard. Then I’d tell him Buggs Bunny wears glasses sometimes. He’d laugh at me. But he always said that to convince me to eat carrots. By the way, I’ve worn glasses since I was 7 years old and I’ve eaten carrots for as long as I can remember. (more…)
Back in December, I was in Texas. One of our favorite places to visit while down there is World Market. While we were walking around looking at this and that, really eying the silverware that I’ve wanted for years but still won’t buy, I stumbled across a book called Pie School | Lessons in Fruit, Flour, and Butter. I made mention that I wanted it and low and behold I got it for Christmas! I started reading through it right away and the author, Kate Lebo, discusses things called a Galette. I’m sorry, a what? It is a pie that is free form, as in you don’t bake it in a pie plate but roll it out, place your filling in the middle, and roll the sides up over the edge of the filling. Well it’s spring time in the Ozarks. Time to start thinking about moving the cows home and off our hay field so the hay can grow.
The cows were real excited about being hauled too…. ha! Really they weren’t to bad. Dad got a little upset at us and said his cows wouldn’t work like we thought they would. sigh. Seems like we can’t work stupid cows without people having fits and everything else. Our friends came over to help both physical bodies as well as bringing the trailer to help haul since our trailer is only a 16′ and holds very few at once.
Hi, did you notice it’s been a while since you’ve seen a post? Did you notice that there are new digs around here? Please bear with me as I try to get everything sorted back out. Now what did I do? Well, I switched housing basically. The old blog was written on a website called blogger. Now I’m self-hosting my blog. Don’t ask me what any of that means, I’m not sure I could do it justice on explaining. I spent most of last month researching and switching over. I’ve also started a couple side businesses and been working on derriere off on them as well.
It’s been 2 weeks since I’ve been able to work on this quilt. We are so far behind… haha! The first of those two weeks my grandma had to go to voting school. What?!?! She works the polls (wow, that could be read incorrectly… mind out of gutter please, this is my grandma after all!). They apparently have to go to class to learn how to help at the voting polls, even though she’s done this for years. I used to love to go to the polls to vote when I was younger because she’d usually give me a cookie or something. Anyway, that week I worked with my {step}daughter and tried teaching her to sew. She did an excellent job I may add. I should share her blocks. Now I’m trying to decide, since she’s with us so little, do I continue making hers after I get this one done, or do I just MAKE time in our hectic schedule to work on hers… decisions, decisions.
The second week, my grandma was out of town. One of my aunts lives in South Carolina and grandma went down to spend a week and a half or so with her. Typing that, I just realized none of my aunts live close. Like I always knew that, but never really thought about it. Not that it really matters. Just sharing useless information.
