Jose Peppers {Belton, MO}

Earlier this year after a string of unfortunate events revolving around trying to purchase a truck, Mark and I found this restaurant in Belton, MO. On a Monday night we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated… Wow. Must mean it’s good, right? Oh yeah! So good in fact that last night after leaving the Chiefs game, where they won by the way, we decided to eat dinner at Jose Peppers.

I absolutely LOVE stuffed jalapeño peppers. I highly recommend these because I’m not sure you can find better…. seriously! Although I’m willing to keep searching! Like I said, I love stuffed jalapeño peppers.

Labor Day 2016

After such a taxing weekend, we decided to Monday we were going to relax. Just take time and do nothing. Or else, go swimming, that works too.

Abug got to play with Karen’s new puppy. She may or may not claim the puppy as hers. lol.

I was a little bit of a weenie in getting in the water. I’m a warm water person and this was 83ish˚. Brrrrr! So I sat with my feet in the water and played fetch with Sisco and Pete for over an hour.

Homemade Spaghetti Noodles

It must be the thought that we’re heading into the fall season or something, but the other night we thought spaghetti sounded good for dinner. Now… I’m not sure if you’ve ever made your own noodles, but oh my gosh, they are so awesome. And it’s really just as easy to make your own as to buy the store bought ones and cook. Seriously.

Bruner Pharmacy {Monett, MO}

Yesterday my daughter and I went with my mom to her hair appointment. While mom was getting her hair cut, we walked around downtown Monett, Missouri. I have to say I’ve never really spent a lot of time there so it was interesting. Right across from where mom was getting her hair cut was Bruner’s Pharmacy. We walked across the street and wandered around.

So first off, they have some really cool things in there. I found a Mickey Mouse Scrapbook and a Mickey Mouse Recipe binder. I’m all about spotting the Mickey/Minnie Mouse stuff these days… but the coolest part of it, they had a real ice cream shop!

To the next chapter

Where to start. So for a while I’ve been hinting that something was going on but I really didn’t want to tell about it. If you’re friends with me on Facebook you’ve probably already seen, but here’s the story… We sold our house.

This whole mess of a process started 2 years ago July. I’ve been under the stress of this for over 2 years now and it’s taken its toll on me truthfully.

July 2014 we had a Sunday night dinner at our house. A friend said he and his fiancé were thinking of buying a house. I smarted off they should buy ours. After a few minutes they questioned if we were serious or not.

Now for a year or so prior to all of this we’d seriously debated selling it and listing it with a realtor friend but nothing ever came of that so when I smarted that off, we were like, maybe. Hubby shot him a price, they discussed it and came back and said yes. I’m pretty sure hubby and I were in shock for a minute… So we all went to the bank, a contract was drawn up and signed and we were supposed to close on September 15, 2014.

Key word: were.

Chocolate Eclair Cake

I hope everyone had an awesome weekend. Mine was spent packing/moving. I’m a little exhausted and I found a lot of muscles that I forgot I had. But enough about that… So here’s what I have for you today…

Late Sunday night we decided we needed a break so Mark texted our friend Deb. Earlier in the week she’d mentioned getting together on Monday but we weren’t sure if plans had actually been made. Late Sunday night they decided to go forth with plans. Monday morning meals were discussed and by Monday afternoon we were lounging by her pool, prepping/cooking food, and just relaxing. Well I relaxed, other than playing fetch with the dogs… but that was actually relaxing, all hour and a half of throwing the toy for them to retrieve.

After dinner, Deb was like, I have dessert! That’s where today’s post comes in… A Chocolate Eclair Cake.

So pardon the pictures, my big girl camera is buried somewhere in boxes or clothes… so you get the trusty iPhone, which I wasn’t so happy about. I love my big camera. But that’s besides the point.

+Wondering how and why // on tv when someone goes to spit something out (ex. Mike on Friends spitting out the rats crackers or Tula on My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 spitting out the peanuts after hearing the old guys suck the chocolate off of them) they stick their tongue out and are overly dramatic about it…. Is that a tv thing or do people do that in real life?

+Recovering from // This weekend. I’d like to say it was a wild and wooly party, but sadly, I just did a lot of packing/moving and found muscles I haven’t seen in a while, Oh hello there strained muscle that is creeping up the back of my leg every time I so much as move.

+Washing // a bagillion loads of laundry. My husband said it would take me a while. How long has he known me? Washing laundry doesn’t get the best of me, it’s the putting it away. Wow, but right now I have access to 2 washers and 2 dryers so it’s going really fast. Now who wants to lend 4 hands to fold it all and put it away? That means those 2 would be putting it away, I might go enjoy a drink, not specifying what kind of drink, leaving my options open!

Happy Labor Day

Happy Labor Day.
I hope you’re having a lot more fun than I am.
This is a day honoring those hard working individuals who make the world go round.
It also “marks” the end of summer even though Fall doesn’t start until the 22nd.
This is what my life looks like after this weekend.
Maybe I’ll get unburied…
I guess I get to cross off sell house on my 33 goals in my 33rd year…

Happy Labor Day friends!

*Pulled from my old blog Paved Dirt Roads

To keep or not to keep, that is the question

Going back to that list of blog post ideas, there was one that was, what are bad habits of yours and share why you won’t give them up. Ever.

Today I was texting a friend of mine and telling him about what’s going on in my life (I promise I’ll fill the blog in ASAP) and I told him I was kind of sad. His response was, that’s because your sentimental about things like that.

Hmmm…. I’m not sure why but that has hung with me most of the rest of the day. I know I’m sentimental but I told him in a response, that’s probably one of the bad things about me. He disagreed, but he tends to play devil’s advocate with me, a lot… Just talk politics with him… (btw, he votes like I do.)

Then I pondered on if being sentimental is a bad thing…

Recently I’ve been going through cabinets and purging things I don’t like or don’t use. Why keep them around if I don’t use them? But there are still a bunch of things I keep. Why? I had a karaffe in my arsenal of things I’ve been hanging on to. I’ve never used it. It’s really pretty, but again, I’ve never used it. So why did I keep it around? Because my Grandma S gave it to me.

My Grandma S passed away in 2007. I still miss her to this day. Even if I don’t see that karaffe, knowing it is in my kitchen made me feel closer to her. Was it hers? No. Was there anything special about it? Not really. So why did it hold that sentiment? Well, because I told her I liked it or something similar to it and so she made sure I got it.

I finally decided that I didn’t want it, but the more I think about it, I really kind of do. It’s really pretty. Decisions, decisions.

That’s just one example. So I guess in this case, it can be seen as a bad habit. Justifying keeping something that I don’t really need, but something that I still really like. I’m not sure where I’ll wind up on the to keep or not to keep, but know this… I probably won’t be giving up this “bad habit” any time soon. And once I decide, I’ll let you know. My decision should come soon!

Btw, do you want to see the karaffe? It’s really pretty!
