Wednesday nights: Dinner, Diving & Ice Cream!

There is a local children’s camp that the dive shop we dive with goes to every Wednesday night for 8 weeks. Last year hubby and I had the pleasure of going and helping Deb & Grady out and we had a lot of fun. This year we discussed it and thought Tbug might have fun helping out as well so we made arrangements to get her every Wednesday night for 8 weeks minus the week she’s on vacation to go help as well.

We meet up at the dive shop on Wednesday nights, usually after giving Dan grief all. day. long. about it being Wednesday as he forgot the first week… We love you Dano! Anyway we meet up at the shop and leave between 5 & 5:30 to head for dinner first. Usually we either eat Wendy’s or Hardee’s. This year it’s been predominately Wendy’s.

And I wanted to write this great post about how we love them and they love us. In fact when we walked in they recognized us as the Wednesday dinner crowd :). But this week, wow they mixed our order up so bad. They haven’t done that since last year… it was crazy. So usually they’re great!

We all pretty much got the same thing, either a Baconator or a Son of a Baconator, fries and a drink. My Son of a Baconator only wound up with 1 patty. Whatever… it was still good. Then I started complaining that I needed a selfie stick again. Hey, my birthday is July 30th, who is sick of hearing about the selfie stick and wants to send me one. ha!

Hay Season 2015: Sneak Peek

I have been fighting some kind of crap since Father’s Day Weekend which was also the Safari Hunt at the lake with our scuba diving which was also a weekend I was supposed to get night/limited visibility diving certified. That last thing didn’t happen, I couldn’t dive.

Tuesday I went to Urgent Care to find out what was wrong. 4 weeks plus I lost hearing in my left ear. So I finally gave in and went. I have bronchitis, an ear infection and a sinus infection. I guess if you’re going to go, you should go all out!

Anyway a couple weeks ago my uncle was baling hay. Dad was going to help but wound up needing to go pick up square bales in a close by field so I volunteered to go help Jackie (no that’s not my uncle’s name, it’s Jack but I have called him Jackie for so long he’s Jackie).

When I got to my grandma’s I couldn’t get dad’s tractor started. Dang it. A few minutes prior I had go into my parents house to steal a long sleeved, light weight shirt out of dad’s closet because I had a sunburn I didn’t want to burn more and they were pulling back in the driveway. So I called dad and asked him what the trick was. He came down and the tractor immediately started. Isn’t that the way it goes?

I took off for the field. Apparently in the process I dropped the stand for the rake. Jackie stopped to pick it up and later gave me fits.

Hay Season 2015: Field Fires

Okay… I guess I’ll share the story. It really isn’t much of a story but….

Sunday evening I had just gotten back from taking Tbug to her mom’s house. I left Abug sitting in her chair up by my house with my mom and went down to help dad with the tractor. Earlier I had been on the big tractor raking and just as I got done with the last row the tractor started acting funny so I shut it down. Turns out a line that runs hydraulic fluid broke and I drained the tractor of hydraulic fluid. #fail. But I shut it down the minute I realized something wasn’t completely right so I had that going for me.

So I was helping dad tear the line off to fix it and I start hearing a horrible metal clanging sound over in the field where hubby was on the other tractor baling. About that time I heard dad say shut it down you’re going to catch it on fire and then the fire broke out. Ugh! I ran to the edge of the field to see what was going on and then took off running (in flip flops, shame) toward the house to get a shovel. I wasn’t about to be able to put the fire out in flip flops.. this is why you farm in boots….

Lazy Dawg Days of Summer

Let’s set the record strait, yes, we have a swimming pool. No we didn’t open it this year. There’s lots of reasons why that I don’t feel like going into right now, but yes, yes we do have a swimming pool.

Sunday the weather was sunny and hot! Hubby, Tbug, Abug and I went to run a few errands and then come back to the house so hubby could help work on the tractor and the baler (2 separate things… not one thing involving both… sadly!)

I figured that Abug would LOVE to play outside so I went and got a horse watering trough that we actually used for sheep and filled it with water for Tbug and Abug to play in. It really was the perfect size pool for Abug. She can stand up and sit down and stand up and sit down and so on… you get the point. I got Tbug a chair and said either A) sit in the chair and stick your feet in or B) get in and play with her.

Once we got them all set up in the shade, I left them up by the house where dad and hubby were working right beside them on the tractor and I went and jumped in the other tractor and went and raked hay. Should I mention I ran the other tractor out of hydraulic fluid? There was a line that busted… #fail! Luckily it happened right as I finished up my last row to rake so I parked the tractor and went back to the girls.

Abug got cold so Tbug was taking her in the house to dry them all off and then Abug went down for a nap.

Lakes, Sunscreen, Food, & Fires

Earlier last week sometime plans were made for Tbug, hubby and I to get up and go to the lake Saturday morning. They were certifying some boyscouts and we were going down too. I have been fighting a cold, plugged ears, etc… lots of stuff to keep me from diving… but I recently got my new fins in and I wanted to dive and try them out… so I agreed to get up an some unknown hour that turned out to be 5:30am. Did you know that time exists? This wasn’t quite 5:30 but close. I have no idea what time we left the house…

Hubby decided we should stop to get some donuts to take with us.

Fish City Grill and a Girls Day Out

What do you do when it’s been raining for almost a week straight and you finally get a reprieve in the weather? Sunny and 80’s+=Girls Road trip!

Friday morning my mom sent Abug and me a message and asked if we wanted to go to Springfield for the day. I suggested going to Rogers instead and she was good with that. On my way to my parents house I wondered if Tbug would be able to go too and we could just make it a girls day so I got a hold of her mom (especially since it was our weekend to have her) to see if it’d be possible to get her early and it was. Score! We picked her up and made a day of it!!

So when we got to Rogers to the mall area we love to go to it was time for lunch. Normally we go to 1 of 2 places, Fish City Grill or PF Changs. This time around we chose Fish City Grill. I surprised Tbug that I chose this place. I only chose it for the dessert and I’m not a big dessert person… does that tell you something? (Mom’s not pictured because she refuses to be in photos…)

While we were waiting to place our order we took some selfies to send to Dad (hubby) just to be ornery since he was stuck in doors at work today. Shame on us, we’re mean, but it was oh so fun!

Movie: Men in Black

Earlier this week, or maybe it was late last week, my days are kind of running together at this point as I’ve been fighting a cold, the flu, an ear infection, a cough for 4 weeks now. Okay… anyway I mentioned a few weeks ago I like the Timehop app… and no noone is telling me to mention this app…. That was an interesting paragraph… blame it on the prescription cough medicine I just took!

So I was perusing through my day through the years and at the end they give you a bit of time trivia. This just so happened to be what came up…

First off I should mention I loved this movie.

So I was in early high school when this came out. One day during the summer I was invited over to my friend Taria’s house for the day. If you remember, this is also around the same time that the N64’s came out and she had MarioKart. I had 2 controllers and that game system would hold 4 controllers so I took my 2 over, she had 2 and the tournament was on between her siblings and me.

Her parents had a huge stereo system and it had surround sound so Taria put the Men in Black CD on and away we went. One of the songs is all instrumental and playing MarioKart while hearing that particular song in surround sound made us all extremely competitive. It was hilarious and intense.

So after I heard that song I wanted the sound track. So I think it was for Christmas that year my grandma asked what I wanted and I told her I wanted the Men in Black sound track CD. Simple enough, right?

At the time we had a local Hastings store so my grandma went to Hastings to find the CD I wanted. A guy came up and asked her if he could help her locate something and she told him, yes, I want “All the Black Men CD.” And that my friends is how my family started referring to the movie as “All the Black Men”… lol :).

It’s fun stories like this that I remember so vividly about my grandma. It’s hard to believe that my grandma has been gone since September 11, 2007. I miss her every day and it upsets me so much that she was never able to meet my great family. Hubby, Tbug and Abug missed out on meeting a great lady but even more so a great lady missed out on these incredible people.

So Grandma, I know you can’t read this but know I still love and miss you! I love you!

p.s. read the bottom “fact” on the picture. Hope you laugh :). It’ll lighten the mood!

Fourth of July

Hi… my name is Nicole and I’m a picture addict. I totally like them and I make no apologies for that. The thing I do apologize for is not printing more and displaying more. That’s one problem I have with digital photos, otherwise I absolutely LOVE them!

Saturday was the 4th of July. Hubby had to go with the MO Governor’s Mounted Guard to help park cars for the Seneca fireworks. Baby girl and I stayed at the house so she could nap and not get to hot and then we had plans to go down later in the evening.

Hubby on the other hand was supposed to take pictures because a girl has a blog and needs pictures… dun dun dun… epic fail. ha! He didn’t take any.

Baby girl and I went over to grandma and grandpa’s around 5pm to see what they were up to and invite them down to watch the fireworks with us. Around 7 or so we loaded up, went and ate dinner at Applebee’s and then headed down to the fireworks.

There is no epic fail there though… I took pictures!

Baseball & Tacos

Friday night a friend of ours was going to sing the National Anthem at the Joplin Outlaws baseball game so we loaded up and headed over to support her and watch a baseball game.

We got there a bit early while they were still warming up. There was a foul ball that came our direction. Our friend De picked it up and tried to give it to CL but he didn’t want it so I said to try giving it to Abug… she wouldn’t play with it either. Weird kids… lol :).

Finally baby squirrel claimed the ball and played with it for a bit.

Extreme Fourth of July

Saturday hubby was off helping the Missouri Governors Mounted Guard. Squirrel girl and I stayed home so she didn’t get to hot and then we showed up later in the evening. I asked him to take pictures for me so I could write a blog post… dun dun dun, he didn’t. I asked him how I was supposed to write a blog post with no pictures. So that being said, I guess you can tell I like pictures… that is if you didn’t already know that. I guess what I’m trying to do is justify my number of pictures for today’s post. So without further ado, Today’s blog post…..

Thursday night started off our round of Fourth of July parties. The first Thursday of the month is our Extreme Dive Club meeting and being as though it was July, that mean the Fourth of July bash!

Wednesday’s I usually go to the dive shop to work on blog posts for the Extreme Sports Scuba blog as well as help out in any way I can. During the summer on Wednesday nights there is a local children’s camp that we go help out at with try Scuba. But being 4th of July week, there was no camp. So hubby and I went to Deb & Grady’s to help get the meat ready for Jared to smoke on Thursday.

I usually volunteer anytime anyone needs onions cut up. I love to chop, dice, slice, you name it…
