Him and me, me and him

We just fit together like peas in a pod! He’s great! I said I’d post some photos from Kentucky and wow, I’m finally getting to it, and the sad thing, I got Dallas pictures up rather fast and that was the weekend after Kentucky. Prince Charming’s friend, Greg, was getting so tickled at me but Prince Charming is just used to it. Me, I was sitting there while they were talking, playing with the settings on my camera. I just used Prince Charming as my model and he sat there talking to Tim & Greg. Greg asked me what the heck I was doing and Prince Charming said, Oh probably playing. Greg was like doesn’t that bother you and I looked at Greg and told him that Prince Charming is fairly used to it! It happens a lot!

He’ll usually smile at me for a few 🙂 (more…)

DWTS – Week 4

As you can tell I’m a Dancing with the Stars Nut! Ok, maybe not a nut but I do like to watch. I would love to take ballroom dancing lessons! Maybe that’ll be a goal for someday! I was in ballet for years and loved it! I wish I hadn’t stopped dancing. Then in my late teens and early 20’s I ran in queen pageants and one of my favorite talents was my dance to “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” by Charlie Daniels. To this day I can’t listen to that song without counting out loud. What’s sad is my parents used to even count the song. I listened to that song so many times and learned my routine to counts although some was based on specific words so if I sing along with that song I’ll sing words and with counts. It’s funny. But anyway I love to dance. I would love to be some of them on there! Anyway, I didn’t actually get to watch this week’s DWTS until last night. (more…)

Hey Eufaula

My dad is quite the character and he and I have always had that special bond. I was a daddy’s girl, no questions asked! My dad has told me many times, especially when I was in junior high and high school that back in the day when he was in school he had an English teacher that made them write stories. They would get their topic on a Friday and it was due the following Monday. Dad said actually that was probably the best teacher because he learned to create stories, where he might not have otherwise. So yes, my dad is quite the storyteller and the real kicker of it all…. sometimes, actually a lot of times, they are believable. So as a kid, we’ve made many trips to Texas and all over Oklahoma showing horses. Going down 69 headed through Oklahoma to Texas there is a town/lake you pass called Eufaula. As a little kid of course I asked the million-dollar question… how did they get that name….? So I present my dad’s version of how… (but to this day he swears he never told me this story)…

Beautiful Stories

One of my absolute favorite things to do is go to Texas. I’ve been going to Texas since I was a little kid. I have an aunt that lives in Arlington and there are lots of horse shows in McKinney, Ft. Worth, and suburbs that I’ve been to. In fact, as a little kid, we spent almost every weekend in Texas at a horse show here or there so I always claimed I was part Texan. I know crazy right? Sounded good to me!! Well, there is this town called Sanger on your way to Dallas/Ft. Worth and it has this beautiful house. My parents can remember it being there since 1989 and I remember it since the mid-’90s (which of course theirs is older than mine but shhhh I’m telling this story:)… haha)

The trees were saplings back then and you could see the house exceptionally well.

No More Procrastinating….

So as you’ve seen in previous posts, I’m engaged and planning a wedding. Plans are coming together fairly well, but my biggest fear, finding “the” dress. Unfortunately, like most women, I wish I could drop some weight, or think I’m fat, ugly, etc… it’s a curse!!! So I have dreaded going wedding dress shopping. We’d go out on weekends and my mom would say, let’s go here and try on dresses, I always came up with an excuse because really it was just usually me and her. I wanted the experience with lots of people, I guess or so I told myself. Plus she’d also promised that we’d go to Dallas area and go with my aunt, etc plus my matron of honor lives in Dallas. We finally picked this weekend to head that way. April drove over to our first stop in Grapevine Mills, TX, Aunt Connie drove over from Ft. Worth where she was with Brad at a horse show and mom, Evelyn (my bridesmaid), and I headed down from Missouri.

On the Road Again!
(yes that Willie Nelson song has been playing in my head all weekend, I just got home from Kentucky last weekend….)

DWTS – Week 3

I realized I didn’t put up last weeks scores and week 4 starts tonight. Last week brought some interesting turns of events. Nicole & Derek fell from the top because well first off they had a lift even though it was Nicole holding Derek not the other way around. I still think they are my favorites! Evan & Anna came through though! Unfortunately Buzz is older so competing with the younger ones is difficult but I would so much rather had him stay and Kate leave than anything. Her scores aren’t much higher and she’s full of drama. She isn’t even improving, just staying the same. But hey that’s my opinion and I’m not a judge but you can be sure I didn’t vote for her. I’m ready for tonight!! Chicken Spaghetti and DWTS, it doesn’t get much better, oh wait sharing it with my fiance, and he’ll be there!

Engagement Photos

Prince Charming and I have been waiting until we could get our engagement photos taken. It seemed like it never was going to come. Too cold, too rainy, no green, whatever… no time in schedules, but finally the day came. The guy who did our family photos also did our engagement photos and is the backup photographer for our wedding. Taylor emailed me this week and asked if we wanted to do engagement photos one night this week after work. Hey works for us because then we’d hit the “golden hour” anyway and not have to wait so cool. He suggested Wednesday, Prince Charming has night class; Thursday, I had a meeting at 7 pm; Friday I’m headed for Texas wedding dress shopping… we finally agreed on Thursday, after I got off work but before I had to be to my meeting at 7. Wooohoooo. And boy doing the photos last night just made this feel all that more real! It was GREAT!!! Taylor got us a cd first thing this morning too of the photos. No touch ups have been done, they are all SOOC (straight out of Camera) but even at that, they look great! Here’s a sneak peek at some of them. Don’t forget they are sooc and they will be touched up before we get them :).

I am the Sunglasses queen. I can’t go anywhere without trying on Sunglasses so we had to do a shot like that 🙂

Troy Marshall

-->

This was written by Troy Marshall, please don't give me credit or yell at me if you disagree, I just thought it was something interesting and a new take on a relationship/marriage. And trust me, with my upcoming wedding, I try to read this stuff if nothing else, see other points of view. There are a bunch of people who think it's the best thing in the world and there are those who hate being married. I want to go into this with an open mind and see what happens. I have already warned Mark though, I'm not changing my identity more than once so no divorces for me!! I can relate to this article though, I grew up on the back of a horse, I was riding horses before I could walk. So you talk horses and I'm there!
So I give you: Troy Marshall:

Someone once told me that one could learn a lot about marriage by studying how your dog relates to you. I don’t remember all of his points but it revolved around points like the dog always is focused on you, wants to please, expects the best, is quick to forget and forgive, etc. I’m sure there’s a lot of good advice hidden in that analogy, but it doesn’t really resonate with me. I prefer to ponder how the principles of a relationship between a man and his horse could apply to the relationship between spouses. Here are my thoughts:

  • First off, you never should take a horse for granted. That horse might be as gentle and good-minded as they come but something as little as a pheasant jumping out of the brush can leave you sitting on the ground if you aren’t paying attention. So it is in a relationship; if you don’t have a handle on what’s going on and aren’t being pretty observant, little things can lead to a big wreck.
  • You can’t force a horse to do anything; they’re bigger and stronger. Plus, even if you succeed by forcing a behavior through intimidation, they’ll resent it and cheat on you the first chance they get. Enough said on that one.
