HorseFest

Dad, Prince Charming & I went to Horsefest in Springfield Sunday, March 14th. (It was a 3-day event March 12-14th) There was a lot of good information that was given out. We watched Kerry Kuhn from Kansas give a demonstration on this 3-year-old. The owner said she’d been ridden 1-time last fall and that was it.

He said the first thing you need to do is build the horse’s trust. Get curious as to what you are doing and let them see you won’t hurt them.

Dancing with the Stars – Season Premier

I’m not sure who of you out there are Dancing with the Stars fans, but let me tell you what, I AM!!! I actually didn’t watch the first season and thought my mother was weird for watching it. However I have always loved dance, just never into that show. But boy when Season 2 came and it had Drew Lachey & his partner Cheryl Burke, Jerry Rice & his partner Anna Trebunskaya, Stacie Keibler & her partner Toni Dovolani, and Lisa Rinna & her partner Louis van Amstel. Those 4 it was always a toss up who I liked better. But with that said, I’ve been addicted to Dancing with the Stars ever since! One season, I didn’t get to see the results shows because I was taking cake decorating classes, so that season, I wasn’t as into it as I have been most every other season. Monday night started Season 10. With quite the Line up and scores for the first night. They either did the Cha Cha Cha or the Viennese Waltz. Here’s the results for this week. No elimination, scores will combine with next weeks for the first contender to do the walk of shame home… Stay tuned 🙂

3rd Annual Buffalo Show & Sale

Saturday morning we woke up and headed to the MoKan salebarn. They had the 3rd annual (4th one… think about it, the 1st is just the first, the second is the first annual….) Buffalo Show & Sale. Yes we are the proud owners of a few head of Buffalo. They are cool however Buffalo are still considered wild animals, haven’t been domesticated. You have to watch them b/c if they want, they’ll clean your clock! A cow if you throw your arms at them will usually stop and run the other direction… oh heck not a buffalo. The first year Dad & I went we bought 3 males (they have all since gotten sick and died and we aren’t sure what from…). Well we had a cow out one day and I went running through the field to get around her as she was running up the driveway and I had one of the male buffalo hot on my heels. I hoped the metal fence and he plowed right into it. One thing about them, you keep your eyes on them and you make sure not to do any sudden movements. They don’t like that! Anyway the second year we went, we bought 3 females. No we didn’t do it with intentions of breeding them, it is just how it happened both times. This year we bought 2 more females (remember all males have died now, but you can breed a beef animal to a buffalo, that’s how they get the breed, Beefalo’s.)

Anyway this was the beginning of the sale. They were actually doing an auction to raise money for the Missouri Bison Association. (MBA)

Ever heard of the lol kitteh’s? They are cute and funny. Not always do they make sense and boy do they need to learn how to spell! but I found them on the lol kitteh’s website. I was introduced to them by some co-workers. They are cute. I also now have an app on my iPhone for them. You should check them out sometime. For now I’ve been kind enough to share a few cute ones I saw this morning.

Uncle Bill

My grandpa has 2 siblings. Actually, I guess biologically my grandpa has 1 sibling, there’s a story there if you can’t guess… My grandpa was born in 1928, think back, depression time. He had a sister who was born 3 years later, again the depression era. No one knows why but his mom drove her kids in from Illinois to St. Louis and dropped them off at an orphanage. My great-grandma decided she wanted a son and so she and my great-grandpa headed to St. Louis to adopt my grandpa. At the time they didn’t have to keep families together so they just adopted my grandpa at age 6. Once they got home, they realized that they shouldn’t have split him up from his sister so a week later they headed back to St. Louis to adopt his sister but they’d already adopted her out to another family. Life back then didn’t require records to be kept, etc so they never knew where Aunt Sue went. Back in the ’80s, my grandma stumbled across stuff that eventually led them to my grandpa finding his biological sister. She’d been adopted into a family that already had an adopted son, Uncle Bill so my grandpa, Uncle Bill & Aunt Sue all claim each other as family and if you saw my grandpa and Uncle Bill next to each other, they are brothers! Unfortunately, Uncle Bill has been diagnosed with the early stages of Alzheimer’s. He can remember but not always. (more…)

Project – Feet

So have you noticed, or cared, that we’ve forgotten to post 2 blogs. I promise it hasn’t been forgotten, just momentary lapse. And this, this is another one that wasn’t announced but I don’t care. It’s the best we could do on such short notice. I promise there will be one on eyes and there will be one on chair, but not today! Sorry for the letdown! I hope you’ll get over it! I guess you have to, or else you can quit reading, but me, I don’t know really who reads this anyway, it may just be me… I don’t know. I do have 3 followers that I know which makes me oh-so happy!!! but one of them is Prince Charming :). Anyway here we go, today’s feet photo 🙂

Nicole: It’s my baby’s feet. We were at Horsefest yesterday and I was bored.

The many faces of Mudd!!!

My dad has been wanting another male Australian Shepherd Dog for a while. For Father’s Day 2009, my mom and I went on the hunt for one. A surprise to us, Dad had also been looking and found one. Well we admitted we’d been looking and low and behold, we got him a Blue Merle with a blue and a brown eye. Next came the challenge of naming him. Eventually he got the name Mudflap, more as a joke than anything but it stuck. We now either call him Mudflap or Muddy or Mud for short. He is one cool Dog. Sunday I was helping my dad and Prince Charming haul hay, actually I knew I wouldn’t have much to do so I drug my camera along and took pictures to entertain myself and try to make myself better. In the mean time got some great shots of my model for the day so I now present to you: Mudflap and all his faces 🙂

He heard the clicking on my camera. Anytime you talk to him he cocks his head one direction or the other.
